I've played both in the 70s and opted for a Guild F50-RNT (same body style as the F55). It has held up like a tank, nearly 50 years old and I'm playing it out weekly. In the early 80s I bought the matching Guild F512 (12-string) which has an incredible ring to it. No complaints with Guild! You really can't go wrong with either instrument.

I like the looks of the all Sapele better but ive owned a lot of Mahogany acoustics over the years so I thought it would be good to change it up when i got my Martin. I also wanted something with a wider frequency/tonal response for more versatility when i got my D10E. Thats why I went with the Spruce top and Sapele back and sides. Ive had it for about 4 years now and I absolutely love it. Its the best acoustic ive ever owned in my 20 plus years of playing guitar. I just couldnt ever afford anything nicer despite my playing capability and devotion to the instrument warranting a nicer guitar long ago. The D10's feel really great to play. I love the wider string spacing, it really makes playing finger style a breeze. And the Spruce/Sapele D10's record extremely well. I think you could get a great recording with the under saddle peizo by itself or by only close micing with a condenser mic. But if you do both peizo and condenser mic then mix them theres no reason you couldn't get the D10's to sound just as good as a D18 or D35 etc.

It always amazes me that people who can’t even tune a guitar properly ( you, in this video ) and additionally can barely play the instrument, feel qualified to review it.

Well, it seems to be recorded from a distance, so it's loud. Our ears prefer a close-mic'd sound sample. We're just sayin'. . .

And the maple-backed one is pressed and steamed laminated wood (not carved). Guild has been making arch-backs like that for over 60 years. But they do match the grain on the veneer to fool you!).

I’m a Guild girl…when not a Martin girl. I have three Guilds now - a GAD50 which while made in China is my favorite goto guitar. Fabulous to play & sounds like (loud) angels! My purchase of this was as a beater guitar to protect my F50. I also have the light of my life, my 2008 F412! My Martins are the D12-28, my limited edition 175th anniversary D18 & my Martin D15.

The tonal palette of the different colours and flavors of each note from the bass to mid to treble blends together very smoothly and well. The EVO gold frets wear better than the nickel frets they have a harder blend of metals than the original nickel. I am taking my time making up my mind on either Martin 000-28 modern deluxe or the Martin 000-18 modern deluxe. I play classical, bluegrass, strumming. Thank you for taking time to audition this well made guitar.
