From my perspective, I compare lifting capacity figures to something I have been around my whole life.. Like, how many John Deere tractors can the Liebherr 13,000 lift at one time? !! In the process, the first thing I discovered is that 3,000 tons is 6 million pounds!! W! O!! W!!! Well, Deere's largest tractor today is the 9RX 830 BEHEMOTH‼️ This 913 maximum horsepower, 4 track tractor weighs a mind boggling 74,000 pounds, with a maximum ballasted working weight of 84,000 pounds‼️‼️ Doing the math, the 13,000 could pick up in excess of EIGHTY ONE factory equipped 9RX 830 tractors‼️ Now, it will take a lifting apparatus to connect the crane to that many tractors, so let's allow 2 tons per tractor to accomplish that.. With those impediments the crane would be able to lift only seventy seven 9RX 830 tractors.. 😢 Well, we'll have to settle for that!!

I’ve been a crane tech for over 30 years and I can assure you most crane accidents are caused by arrogant or ignorant crane operators. They either say “oh she can handle it, I know my crane” or “this crane is rated for blah blah blah” not understanding LOAD RADIUS. The good operators will not lift or move anything without knowing weights and distances. They will NEVER exceed the load radius rating of their machine. Cranes are giant see-saws using counterweight to prevent tipping. Cranes don’t usually fail due to structural problems they tip over bc dumbasses try to lift too far away from the machine.

None of those steam components even began to tax that LR1600. Typically, the cranes are used for reach rather than lifting capacity.

They're trying to die obviously, and one of 'em almost suceeded. More seriously it looks like they're installing a pipeline as we can see a dozer with lateral crane and probably a counterweight on the other side, and other cranes lined up behind, probably each with a piece of pipeline.
