    Yes it is in this case, as long as it's hot enough to produce steam from the damp cloth it will work.

    Nobody ever talks about how to get rid of the stiff prickly part of the dreads when you install them. I have human hair that is 10 inch dreaded 16 inch loose ends. The dreaded part is very prickly.

    Hi! It may be that they are in need of conditioner. Whilst we don't recommend the use of regular conditioners because they leave behind too much residue and cause build up, dread specific conditioners ensure the hair is nourished and hydrated and this can often make them feel softer. We have a range of conditioners at www.dreadlocks.com.au.

    Does anyone know if i can do this for synthetic dreads like connecting two synthetic dreads together for length?

  • @thedreadshop399
    @thedreadshop3994 ай бұрын

    Yep, as long as they're crocheted they can be joined in exactly the same way.

    As a person who does this. why is the hair at the end not wrapped around. It looks like crap when all the hair at the end is sticking out like that.

  • @thedreadshop399

    This video was made to primarily demonstrate the blanket braid. There are a number of ways to finish off the ends - the neatest way is to use thread rather than elastic so that the ends can be hidden completely and wrapped neatly. We have plenty of videos at www.dreadlocks.com.au.

    Historically, dreadlocks were worn by a multitude of cultures which spanned the globe. To say now, that dreadlocks belong to one culture serves to divide, not unify. Plenty of Caucasian hair types will dread on their own (not just matt but actually form dreadlocks) once brushing and conditioning ceases. And finally, here in Australia, a number of African Australians provide dreadlocking services with a large part of their clientele being white - to rule dreadlocks out as a 'hairstyle' open to anyone who appreciates it, will impact their livelihood. In their words, dreadlocks belong to the person whose head they're on.

    Can you do the same with crochet dreads

  • @thedreadshop399

    Hi - crocheted synthetic dreads typically don't need setting like the twisted dreads. If they need tidying up, use a crochet hook.

    Would this work on 5-6mm dread extensions?

  • @thedreadshop399
    @thedreadshop399 Жыл бұрын

    Hi Nicole. Yep. It's a little trickier to get a bigger hole but you can definitely still do it with the latch hook and this will then allow you to pull a section of your own hair through the hole. We also can do custom orders and build the loop into the top of the dread. If that's of interest, please email [email protected] with your specifications so we can quote. Thanks, Lucy

    If you put your hair into Cornrows and then use a crotchet hook to feed the dreads through the cornrows it looks much nicer and you don't see ANY of your own hair. I use to do it this way but hated seeing my own hair braided in as it looks so un natural.

    For how long do they last in that hair length?

  • @thedreadshop399
    @thedreadshop3992 жыл бұрын

    Usually a week or two. If installed really well and your own hair tends to be a bit more textured versus soft a silky, you might get a bit longer but the longer your hair is the longer you can wear temporary dreadlocks.

  • @thedreadshop399
    @thedreadshop3992 жыл бұрын

    Yes, these can be braided in and left for 2, possibly 3 months depending on how fast your hair grows or alternatively, they can be crocheted to the bottom of your own dreaded hair (your hair needs to be dreaded first) and left permanently. For more information, head to www.dreadlocks.com.au.
