I grew up with this movie, and am just rediscovering it as an adult, like an old sweet memory... and I can't _believe_ that, come to find out, it was super overlooked and almost no one knows this movie!! The soundtrack is even out of print! What the heck! It's one of the most beautiful, touching, funny, and inspiring films I can ever remember seeing! And a GREAT performance from Damon especially, in the middle of the rise of his career, just after Good Will Hunting and Saving Private Ryan, and just before Finding Forrester and Oceans Eleven! How did all THOSE great movies become classics, and this one didn't??? I don't get it.

Notice his name is Junah like in the Bible. He has the Junah complex. He keep running from his purpose. But God/Will there to bring him into consciousness.

SUch a powerful movie and scene, Bagger was excatly the guardian angel that Junuh needed at the right time to help him overcome those demons that haunted him.

And of course, the dialog is ambiguous. Is the game golf? Or is it the game of life?

It me getting older and being out of the Army to truly understand these scene full force. The insinuation is that Bagger was in the Argonne forest during WWI, the battle Belleaux Wood. This was one of the most brutal battles US forces endured, the woods brings that back for Bagger, hence his mental state while looking for the ball.

There's something in the "why don't you just loosen up your grip" that hits differently in the context. All about how Junuh is holding on too tightly to the past

This scene is profound. War is Hell. Why do we need soldiers anymore? Kill innocent teenagers for something that planes can drop bombs. Sad. This scene makes you realize what those soldiers went through. I understand why my uncle drank so much. This is dreadful. Canons, machine guns, grenades, bazookas, and other weapons killing people. It’s human waste because a president or commanding officer mistakenly send troops into harm. The poor people in Ukraine and the poor soldiers of Russia. We have modern technology. We dont need rows and rows of soldiers some dumb captain or sergeant order them to die. Save humanity.

Christ. I've researched this place as I could and I had a meeting with himself. I was agnostic but man I always thought the . story of christ was just plain goodness out of all the other beliefs. I'm swear that christ yeshua of nazurit is God in the flesh. He is always with us ❤️ Love you Lord even though I'm a piece of shit and you still love me regardless. Legend.

Great movie as it had everything. How one can lose believe in one's self but also you can find yourself again even through the roughed of circumstances also it felt like baggar was a guardian angel 😇 which made the movie so good that even in our darkest moments someone is looking out for us.
