Eflite*
Yes Eflite the version with the flite test branding on wing top
Fast and smooth. Great job
@@FatGuyFliesRC thanks man! I enjoy your videos. I feel like I’m meeting a celebrity lol. Do you watch @ the lighter side of RC?
I sold this one. Think it was too pretty I was afraid to have fun with it. I got two used eflite 80mm f-16s and I’m loving them.
Nice
Like an Avanti but less wing area
Great flight with the nose view 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Good use of an old crashed nose cone
Nice play and bill great video taken.
Nice flying bill great video taken.
@@markhenrie5615 Thanks!
rc전투기 보단... 저렇게 넓은 장소가 더 부럽네!!
We do have a wonderful flying field at ncrcc.org
$$$$$??
Got it used, previously crashed lol.
Nice flying with a f sixteen bill.
Thanks! Went to the field Friday after work for a few flights. Ralph was there.
Nice plane,Pilot, and video Ace👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Thanks! still getting the engine tuned, was really rich in this video.
What did you do, just place the motor, mark and drill mounting holes?
Yeah pretty much. Just need to keep the chain in line and running true.
Just four channels and a sweet running engine is all you need.
Channel mixing?
Yeah. I don’t remember how I did it. But you need right and left aileron and also those two servos to function as only up elevator
@@BillCranford Only up elevator? No down elevator? Are you trying to mix elevons? Or a V-tail?
Okay, so it's a paramotor. On sale or not, I have no need for such things.
Your old truck and no Sheetrock!
And no airplanes 😮
I know now
😬
That's pretty awesome.
Thanks. Engine still needs a little tuning. Flies great though
Spit or Warhawk?
Spit mkII
so I've had this plane for a couple years now.. just put it together this afternoon and bound up to my controller, and I'm scared as hell to fly it. it's my 1st plane. I'm a drone guy. any advice?
Dual rates help with about 8mm of throw in each direction for launch, 5mm for high speed 40% expo 3/4 throttle have a friend give a good level toss at a 25 degree up angle. Be ready to give a little up and right to fight the torque. A failure to launch can be repaired as I’ve done it like 10 times but if you put this in at full speed it’s going to be pieces!Good luck :)
I run mine on 6s but lose the servo action when going high speed. I get servo control back when it slows down. Also your motor will burn out. The esc will be fine, but the magnets on the motors will wear out on 6s
I like to build model airplanes.
6S? 60 amps? How much did this thing weigh?
same weight in this flight with 7x6 prop. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIWEuMFrYqbLfNI.htmlsi=Bzx6MJ77eM75frne 8x8 gives a lot of torque and caused my failure to launch
Stupid dog
That looks like an eagle 2
Hobbico hobby star 60. Similar to the Eagle 2
what do you think is most fun? my mates got one on 4s but I need to huy hatteries so wondering of I should go 6s or not
4s is plenty fast and fun for this plane. 6s is cool but not really worth the effort, and shorter flight time. Two 4s in the air together will be a great time.
@@BillCranford perfect thanks mate 👍
I don't know why guys do this. It just makes the plane roll wonky and less linear than the traditional approach. I tried it once and went back after one flight.
lol. I actually did the same. Not even one flight, about 1 minute, I had the mix on a switch.
@BillCranford Tellin ya... Ha! SO much better with the traditional surfaces. 👍
i ran mine on a 6s quad batt and a 7x5 all else stock. if you start running into torque roll issues move out the servo horns. I had trouble going to anything below a 7 in diameter prop since most of it is covered by the cone. Before you tell me ill blow up my spedo ive flown over 100 packs through with a 8 x 8 on 4s and 20 with the 7x5 6s setup. All on the stock power plant.
I wasn’t going to say anything about your speedo. 100 packs that’s impressive.
What airplane is it?
1/6 scale Sopwith pup. It’s a proctor enterprises VK model kit.
So cool, and so satisfying
I wanna do the taileron and flaperon. Is it using with mix?
That’s what I want🥺🥺 can u make a tutorial for that?
What radio are you using? You have each surface on its own channel?
@@BillCranford Futaba t14sg
@@BillCranford yes
@@BillCranford I have separate it
@@user-oj6gn5tq5q sorry do t know futaba but on spektrum I created two mixes aileron to elevator. Wing is two servos. Tail is two servos. Hope this helps
I have a old Goldberg Sukhoi I bought built. It has an old Ys 140 in it.. I've never flown it as it needs updating the servos ect. Thinking of going Gas.. Does the 20cc give it unlimited vertical? Nice vid!
No it didn’t. The 20cc was enough for a fun aerobatic flight, wouldn’t pull out of a hover. Mine originally had a YS 120 pumped. Going gas you might want a 30 twin
Well done. I get the appeal that four smokers have but I'm an old timer. I go back over 50 years in RC modelling and for me there is nothing like a hot little 2 stroke! Love em.
Thanks! Wow 50 years that’s great. I have a few 4 strokes, they have their place, but on a sports plane yeah give me a high revving 2 stroke 💨
Nice...speed on 6S. I fly mine on stock motor 4S with a 7X7 aeronaut prop and in level flight it's just under 120, and I thought that was fast.
Sweet! I got 123mph on 4s 7x6 prop but that was a huge dive from 400’. 143mph with a 7x6 is actually too much for this airframe. Thanks for watching 😁✈️
In a shed full of glossy looking ARFs - the ole beed up ones with scars are always more satisfying to own.
Well said 👍
Hi I find the stock prop abysmally inadequate and a disaster waiting to happen so I'm not going to even bother using it and frankly you would think freewing wouldn't go down the same road FMS did with exploding prop adapters it was the main cause of catastrophic mid air explosions of the assembly usually resulting in the mounts and nose being destroyed Any suggestions on the prop adaptor and prop to use would be appreciated
kzread.info/dash/bejne/eH-t1sSTl5jNo6w.htmlsi=OU2sz1cv995Y1SAL The link to the prop adapter I used is in the description of the video above. Also I use a 12x8e apc but that’s running on 6s. I’m not sure the best prop for 4s with the stock motor.
I never even used the stock 4 blade. If you have 6s batteries I’d just go the same route I did. The stock motor and esc handle it fine.
Wow, that plane is fast!
I’ll fit my skyRC gps in it next time 😁
NICE VIDEO, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! RUSS FROM ACTION RC!!!
Thanks Russ! Winter here in Connecticut so flying days are spread out quite a bit, but it’s good for workshop time 👍
SAME HERE, TON OF RAIN SO WORKING ON NEW SHOP AND PAINT VIDEOS FOR THE CHANNEL, HOPEFULLY IT CLEARS UP HERE THIS WEEK. I HAVE A BIG PROJECT COMING!@@BillCranford
@@ActionRC-Russ nice! I have a fiberglass and balsa Habu 32 I’m putting together. Planning an 80mm jet fan on 12s 😃
Hi guys, just got this plane and cant love it more....But....landing....dont you brake the prop...? What about using folding prop....? Has anyone tried it?? Thanks for posting...😊
Once in a while you’ll break a prop. Glide in for a soft landing and most times it’s fine. Personally I wouldn’t trust a folding prop used on gliders at this speed/ rpm.
Finally I was forced😂 to use a folding prop...It performs PRFKT....😅
That's awesome haha. I bought one of these planes a few years ago with the intention of adding DJI FPV to it but it's just been sitting in the box. This gives me some motivation to finally put it together and fly it. IDK about going 6S on mine but man that would be a wild FPV ride lol
Put it together! I flew this on 4s twice and it’s still pretty fast. This airframe glides really well and true. I imagine it would be great FPV 3 or 4s.
Cool! 😎👍🛩
It is pretty much an Eflite V 1200. With no gear
Speed wise yeah probably. The v1200 has a swept wing and other obvious differences like flaps and retracts
@@BillCranford Just the same type of speed demon.
V900, on 4s
@@redwineisfine The V 1200 will fly on 4S as well. But it only does 120 and 4S
@@Royshanger sure does, but v900 on 4s is about 140mph
I have a similar setup. Except on 4S, 7x6 prop, no sure of the motor, think it's around 1900kv. IIRC I clocked mine on GPS at 163mph (263kph) in a dive with a good tailwind. I would say yours is of similar speed. Ridiculously fast. I think yours is a lot faster than 140mph.
Looked about 150 to 160 to me. I have a v1200 and that looked like the 164 I get out of my stock v1200 with similar battery
Nice 👍 I’ll get a gps reading next time
My EFXtra on 6S and 6x5.5 APC reach 250 Km/h.
If you had telemetry or a radar gun, you may be surprised! In my opinion, that is faster than 140 mph. Back in the early 1990s, my brother designed a foam/balsa plane powered by a Fox .36 glow engine running a 9X8 prop. Your plane appears to be going at least as fast as ours and our plane did 150 mph.
Thanks! I do have a skyRC gps unit I plan to put in it. There’s no room in the battery bay so I’ll have to take the wing off and tuck it inside the rear of the fuselage. I was being conservative with my guess, I agree it’s probably closer to 150mph.
kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIWEuMFrYqbLfNI.htmlsi=h3J3gXcSvVuAPcgn My goblin recorded 139mph setup similar having a 20amp lower esc and the motor about 400kv lower
@@BillCranford 😎👍🛩
Try a 7x10 APC
That’s asking for trouble this 7x6 is already too much for the airframe
Stock motor?
Yup!
I have x tra parts
I have 3 of these models, 1 still nib, 1 is crashed in pieces, the other is my regular. Such a fun plane. I run an old school K&B 60 Sportster, really like the sound
👍 it’s a great flying airframe.
Dont you brake the prop. While landing...??
I have not yet. It does brake once in a while when landing “belly landers” there is debate on whether to use the esc brake to stop the prop. I choose not to and let it free wheel. It is a roll of the dice but most times it does not break.
Bill.... "you're a thrill" Thank you for the video...
