You wouldn't happen to know where you would place a vacuum gauge in that nest of hoses , would you ?

What a great video, this helped me out big time to replace the hoses on my 1988 22re. Any chance you'll be doing one for the electrical connectors? The guy who had my truck before did some crazy hack jobs and I have no idea what's supposed to go where.

I really appreciate your attmept to give a visual on all of the hoses involving this motor and the description of the hoses and the names of the parts that they are connected to... however there are 2 parts I dont get. Plus confusin over other peoples comments.. one of them is where the hose that was left dangling after the check valve with what you said was a filterthat was on it at 0:34 and the hose connection that has no hose connected to it at the end of the clip at 5:42 where you said this connected to this and then ran your finger over the part pointing to the port with non hose on it and and said something that sounded like " and this is ultimately connected to the fuel filter?..". My fuel filter has one line in and one out and it has 2 banjo fittings with banjo bolts and thats from factory.. I have an 89 22re.. I tagged everything before my rebulid... and am trying to troubleshoot and check my hoses for proper olacement and for vacume leaks... I could have made an error in putting one or 2 of the hoses back but I doubt it and as I am reading through some of the other comments and debating the locactions of the hoses... but thanks for the clip anyway becuase I might try swapping things around one by one and seeing if it makes a differents when I get to the one trouble spot that the engine wants to stall when going down hill like its starving for feul or that fuel pump going... on strait aways and up hills it runs fine...and also I am getting poor gas mileage.... just need to get over this hump and I'll have my truck back up and running... I dont want to overlook the cheapest things before dumping money into hanging in any parts that dont fix the problem... So thanks again for your clip... I will try and read the commentors suggestions or descriptions to in order to assure myself that I got the hose connections right.

On my 88 runner and on the vacuum diagram I found for it online, the black and orange check valve connects to the other port on the VSV (the one at the end, furthest away from the valve)

4:51, That’s not water dude, it is air, that comes from the coconut sized filter in front of it that pulls its air from the air intake at the front of the engine. The air goes from the front, threw the coconut, threw the reed valve, around the back of the engine, over to the other side of the block into a long copper looking pipe, that sends the air into the 1st and 4th cylinder exhaust. The extra oxygen helps the gasses burn up clean in the catalytic converter.... helps to cool your headers and pass smog.

I found a few things in this video that aren’t quite correct. The pvc valve hose goes on the bottom of where you pointed and the brake booster goes to the top( not mentioned) the part your calling cold start injector is actually an idle up valve( turns up idle when you use power steering and ac I believe) also the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose isn’t mentioned and the charcoal canister hose wraps around the back of the valve cover not across the throttle cable. Not trying to dog just trying to help
