My wife (American) and I are looking at moving to NZ or Australia. She’s a PA (physician assistant) here in the Rio Grande Valley TX. I’m NZ born and my family are all there but I’ve been living in Australia for last 33 years before moving to USA 2 years ago. I’m an Australian citizen too. Best of luck in the U.S and hope things go well for you and I’ll continue to watch your videos. Thank you

I was born in Auckland in 1970. It was great in the 70s and 80s. It went down hill in the the late 90s. Moved to Australia and would never move back. I miss my hometown but its not the same as I remembered.

Hi Tara, just a thought. You know here in New Zealand we don’t have double entrance doors 🚪 unless one of them is a security/insect screen door right!? I want to know why American homes have two doors? Like the that shown in your video here. Just a curious kiwi :)

Lol one thing i really hate about the US and ill be honest here its IMO the worst thing about America... even worse than the health system (i dont hate that as much now due to NZs being hugely over rated) is the whole civil court thing (ie lawsuits etc). I cant stand red tape. However in saying that i still like using cash as i dont trust the govt in New Zealand and worry about the social credit system

I couldnt believe how much paperwork buying a home was in the US. Like tons electronically, but then in person on paper for the loan and closing documents. Then they kind of rush you through it so you cant fully read it all as your signing page after page after page. Crazy.

I went to buy a 22 year old used pickup for $8,000. Instead of selling stock, I decided to borrow the money from my credit union, and in the past borrowing from them was simple. One sheet of paper, everything else was taken care of…then they merged with another credit union, and now that same branch couldn’t find their way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in it…I had filled out the loan app online, but I STILL had to go into the branch, sign all the same documents in person that I had signed electronically, and get a paper check to carry to the dealer, and physically hand it to him. When we got to the branch, nobody knew what we were talking about, despite having an appointment to do all of this. What an utter fluster-cluck!

Not to mention all the closing fees that are charged in the US vs none in NZ. We were in shocking when we bought our first house here. We asked how much we needed to bring to the closing. They said the cost of the house and your solicitors fees. We were in shock. Definitely way better than the ten of thousands of dollars they rob you of on any house sale or purchase in the US.

So I live in a small Kansas town. It's not the smallest town around but it's pretty small, under 3,000 people. Buying a car or opening a checking account is literally one piece of paper. If you get a loan there's like a pack of paper but that's three signatures. And 9 times out of 10 you get approved for it over the phone. So it may be a city or a state thing.

Lived here for 20 years, married a kiwi in London and she wanted to come home. In retrospect, it's one of the worst decisions I have ever made. Kiwis are not very inviting, the cost of living is terrible, customer service is appalling, the price of housing is through the roof...heading to Aus first chance I can get.

I dunno about early shut shops in NZ, but in Belarus the shops aren't to be open until 11 am, and they close similary to NZ timings. - all because people who work there needed at the fields in the morrnings and evenings. That way they have the largest agriculture staff at hand, and no bad crops is their result.
