    Subscribed! Thanks for the thoughts on the 70-200 f/4. The Mark 1 version has been on my radar for the longest time and I never pulled the trigger simply because my work rarely requires a 70-200mm.

    I hate this lens. There is a LOT of copy variation for a modern lens from the 2020's era. I have tried 4 of them and they've all had their own unique issues. It does seem that there is some variation in the quality of the glass mixture, and some variation in the shaping and or positioning of the lens elements. For instance, my current copy is very clear and colorful but has substantial CA and tons of coma wide open at 28mm. It is soft at the edges until f/8 and more so on the left side, and, the whole left side of the field is soft at 70mm focused at infinity. For a 3,000 lens I was disappointed. Unfortunately, B&H denied my return and I refused to pay them for the lens... Now, I don't blame Canon because I know what B&H is up to, they're dirty NYC thieves... They go through lenses and cherry pick the good ones to keep for themselves. They repackage store demo models and sell them online for $100 off like its a huge deal. And they repackage returned models and do the exact same. They let their employees take lenses home and use them then sell them as new. They do not value the product or the industry and take liberties with their business at every turn. Just because it is "usable" doesn't mean it is worth $3,000. I don't think these fools at B&H understand what the extra $2,000 over a typical 24-70 2.8 is supposed to buy you. I have loads of vintage zooms and none of them are this poorly made. I would avoid the Canon RF 28-70 f/2 L.

    My camera wasn't focusing between every shot (EOS R8) despite following your instructions. I then realised that I had 'Preview AF' turned off, so it would only initiate focus when I held down my focus button (which was AF-on) Turning it on solved the problem. FYI to Other canon users!

    I switched to Sony mirrorless cameras way back in the day when all the other brands were ridiculing mirrorless. I came straight over from Minolta 35mm lol! The Sony A mount shared the same mount as my native Minolta glass at the time. People said that mirrorless was a poser camera and would never make it onto a professional tool. It’s been interesting to see that Sony disrupted the whole camera industry with mirrorless tech and now the other brands are trying to catch up. I built out my Sony E mount kit pretty well and enjoy it! People also used to criticize the limited E mount options of glass, and now that shoe is on the other foot as well. Since Canon had to make an all new mount, now they have much fewer options and Sony is the most supported ecosystem on the market. Where things are at now, I think all the big brands have compelling cameras and your point of shooting on whatever restricts your content creation the least is well said. I would honestly like to build out a whole second kit with Canon and have all the things! Looking forward to an A9iii vs R3 comparison 👍

    One thing often not mentioned: the ergonomics of the body and the ease of use of the menus and buttons. In this disciplines, Canon is far superior. The R3 is even more ergonomic than the EOS 1 DSLR cameras were. I don’t like messing around with battery packs and small batteries that I have to change 4 times a day when I’m on a wedding. I photographed with canon since about 1998 or so. I switched to Sony for a short period around 2006. Then back to canon - the concept was still the same and so it is today. Since the EOS System came out, superior ergonomics, easy to adapt to.

    Hi. I don’t believe that’s how to read it. Here’s an example… I can drive at 195 mph, but at the same time only drive for a few miles before I slow down. Did I drive at 195mph? Yes, but that’s different than driving for 195 actual miles. I would have had to drive for an hour to achieve that (miles per hour). So the camera does “‘drive at 195” (bursts at 195), but only for a few miles (50 pics) and not 195 pics. Hope that helps!

  • @calebizsol
    @calebizsolАй бұрын

    @@DavidWagelmans Sure... but a S5000 dollar camera shouldn't have a fault at such a tender young age. I'll have canon fix it, but I don't trust the camera any more. I travel deep into the African bush for weeks and I need reliability. I bought both the Z9 and the R3 at the same time. Shutter counts are the about the same. Maybe Nikon has a point when the say the Z9 is "unstoppable".

  • @joshrexford
    @joshrexfordАй бұрын

    For me the primary issue has been banding on the electronic shutter. That's happened pretty frequently tbh so I've gravitated towards the mechanical. Plus, the mechanical shutter burst speed is 12fps which is exactly what I want for shooting animations...so it's been a win for me. But the major issue is the banding in certain environments.

The F4 scares me a bit for low light but I haven't really had an opportunity to test the FX3 in low light setting. If it were ME and it were for video shooting and I already had the 85, I’d go with the 24-70. The 28-70 is SUCH a great lens but if you’re exclusively looking for video shooting, I think the IS will be helpful and since you already have the 85 I think the 28-70 would be too much overlap.

    It's funny you could have at least points #1, 2 and 5 to some extent even in DSLRs with the help of *Magic Lantern* (with certain cameras, including 5D\5DII\5DIII, 7D and 70D, the full list is on ML website) over a decade ago... 1) ML has been showing focal length in LiveView (obviously not in OVF) since 2008... 😊 BTW R-cameras only show FL with RF lenses (EF\EF-S and, I assume, third parties for DSLRs are not supported). 2) With ML you can have two *ExpoPresets* , which are switched between one another with an assigned button too. Handy feature. 5) *Rack Focus* and *Focus Stacking* also present in ML. Of course, for shooting only. You need to stitch the result elsewhere.
