Another tip is to watch out for corner surprise attacks, there are sometimes when we get to a hallway or a certain close alley that opens up when you walk through it and suddenly when you least expect there’s an enemy waiting for you to cross the room entrance and attacks you by surprise, always look at your surroundings before entering a close area

We actually said [a single time] "it has a similar art style to persona". Which it obviously does, given Soejima's art direction. Soejima was art director for a single game before working with Hashino on Persona [3]. During this initial project he says he had yet to refine his own style; "my memories of 'Stella Deus' have more to do with my drawing style dilemma than the actual process of character design"*. The title sounds like low standards syndrome. 😅 Plenty of worthwhile games to play made in the past. Following the conversations in the video, you both lack experience in the gaming world. Your focus is very narrow, which taints your enjoyment for this media. Now I'm not saying Dark Souls 1-3 are the worst, but they certainly aren't as great as they could be. My intro to this kind of game was through Demon's Souls on the PS3 which had an actual fleshed out story to it (big bonus not being ambiguous for ambiguous sake). There is nothing compelling, for me, in a game where I place myself into the butt crack of every enemy, and attack from there let alone robotic conflicts that take forever to complete unless I've made the game into an unpaid monotonous job overlevelling myself. That's just my thoughts. I had fun with the games, and several games that utilzed similar mechanics, but they are by far not the best gaming media can offer (highly subjective statement).

If I may list a few that gave me more enjoyment than any of the Dark Souls, Demon Souls, and Bloodborne, in no particular order: Quake/Quake 2, HalfLife, Metro 2033, Resident Evil 7&8, Super Hot, Clive Barker's Jericho, Journey to the Savage Planet. Entertaining world building. Simple first person shooters. JttSP is also pretty funny. Zeno Clash 1&2. Short and sweet beat 'em ups in first person view. Also entertaining world building. Thief trilogy. Not encountered a game that makes used of sound as an important mechanic for stealth. No seeing through walls. No map indicators. Not completely linear. Yes this game is old, and laughably bad in elements (like hiding in darkness right in front of altered enemies looking for you and failing to find you as they walk into you). I've gone back to this game a number of times, and it's held up the experience I had with from the beginning. With more gaming under my belt the game was even easier. I would love a conintuation, but at the same time I don't knowing what games are like these days. Just take a glance at the reboot... Barely anyone talks positively about the reboot. Guild of Dungeoneering, Inscryption, Cardpocalypse. Throw these three together being card games. Stories were entertaining. These did scratch that TCG itch without burning a hole in my pocket. Little Nightmares, and the sequel. While I am disappointed how vague whatever story it was trying to tell was, it still held my attention wanting to see, and know more. The puzzles were fun. the art style was appealing. Dwarf Fortress, RimWorld. Can come with a variety of different approaches to playing these. The stories that can be told by these are pretty fun. Portal, and Portal 2. Interesting puzzles, and lore. Subnautica (not the expansion) was a great exploration game. I love the ocean and this to some level satisfied my interests. Certain wish it had a bit more to offer, but it did have me engaged for many hours. Battlezone 2, Warcraft 2&3, Dark Reign, Starcraft, Age of Empires, They Are Billions. Entertaining RTS games. Enough depth and variety. Great solo and multiplayer (where that is possible). Red Guard, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. For their fantasy action adventure take. Jazz Jackrabbit, Duke Nukem, Halloween Harry, Monster Bash, Super Mario World. Old 2D platforming greatness imo. I could list far more, but that would take all day, and comments are limited in characters.

I have a very eclectic taste on games, not preferring one genre over any other. My interests change so what I am hyper into will rotate in a scrambled way. I had fun with Demon's Souls, and co-op Dark Souls, but nowhere near as much fun I had with the above mentioned games. (I actually prefer Bloodborne due to the setting and lore, but The Last Hero of Nostalgaia was slightly better for its references to older titles, which I recommend if you like games similar to Dark Souls, though some references may not strike the same cord if you've never played the games it makes references to).

You forgot to talk about how bad the lock target system is. My god, i never saw anything like it. It baffles me how poorly they treated it. You are constantly surrounded by a swarm of bullshit and when you try to lock a target, it locks in the mob that is miles away from you. Sometimes its just wont lock at all. Add to it that controls are imprecise as f... and slow input, plus bs combos from some mobs/ boss and you get punished A LOT, for having fast reaction. I never regreted so much of spendig money on a game.

I always wanted to get into souls types but never did but then did co op with my buddy on remnant 1 and that was my introduction and had fun with that,then he said to try code vein and elden ring,code vein Been fun but elden ring def taking longer to get used to lol.debating trying mortal shell still and would try demon souls but im pc only so ppl recommend dark souls 1 remaster instead.

Lies of P is a great game, but there’s no way I’d recommend it to a newer person. From midgame on, the bosses are absolutely unforgivable. Finding it harder than any other souls-like I’ve played.

Mortal shell was the absolute worst game I've ever played my entire life! Looks amazing stuck behind the worst gameplay mechanics! No way to heal besides rare rats and some dinky mushrooms so without healing you just don't fight any enemies besides bosses and run past anything. Perry never ever works so you just stand there like an idiot taking lethal damage. And that's your only steady way to heal! Absolute awful game.

I also didn't like this game at all for the reasons you just mentioned. Most other Soulslikes suck as well IMO. Developping such games seems to come with a huge learning curve. From Soft did a lot of things right even with Demon's Souls and they kept improving (with one well-known exception ^^). Team Ninja also did a lot of things right with Nioh but did not improve after Nioh 2.

You are constantly surrounded by a swarm of bullshit and when you try to lock a target, it locks in the mob that is miles away from you. Sometimes its just wont lock at all. Add to it that controls are imprecise as f... and slow input, plus bs combos from some mobs/ boss and you get punished A LOT, for having fast reaction. I never regreted so much of spendig money on a game.

I always wanted to get into souls types but never did but then did co op with my buddy on remnant 1 and that was my introduction and had fun with that,then he said to try code vein and elden ring,code vein Been fun but elden ring def taking longer to get used to lol.debating trying mortal shell still and would try demon souls but im pc only so ppl recommend dark souls 1 remaster instead.
DS1 is still very good, and much more accessible in terms of boss difficulty than later entries (though there is more obscurity about where to go). Best wishes and enjoy friend

Dude how did you mama be to never get him to hit you? I barely get him to the point where he’s at the first set of stairs, and he always kills me there. I heard he isn’t supposed to hit you once he gets to that point but he always kills me. Also, your head butt is impressive, I keep throwing punches and the occasional head butt when I try.

Lies of P is a great game, but there’s no way I’d recommend it to a newer person. From midgame on, the bosses are absolutely unforgivable. Finding it harder than any other souls-like I’ve played.
But consumables + summons and the game is extremely manageable, especially considering things like infinite respecs, I think it’s absolutely fine for a new person to the genre
Mortal shell was the absolute worst game I've ever played my entire life! Looks amazing stuck behind the worst gameplay mechanics! No way to heal besides rare rats and some dinky mushrooms so without healing you just don't fight any enemies besides bosses and run past anything. Perry never ever works so you just stand there like an idiot taking lethal damage. And that's your only steady way to heal! Absolute awful game.
I agree I’ve seen a lot of people say it’s good but it sucks it’s one of the most boring games I’ve ever played and there’s only like 3 weapons in the game, just go play a real soulsborne game
I also didn't like this game at all for the reasons you just mentioned. Most other Soulslikes suck as well IMO. Developping such games seems to come with a huge learning curve. From Soft did a lot of things right even with Demon's Souls and they kept improving (with one well-known exception ^^). Team Ninja also did a lot of things right with Nioh but did not improve after Nioh 2.
I started playing souls game 6 months ago,with dark souls 2(dont kill me) and after clocking in 226 hrs i played ds1 then ds3,now im finishing sekiro,i remember trying to play bloodborne 3 years ago,but back then i was a noob and the game violated me.but now im in love with fromsoftwere games and souls likes.

Thanks for the tips! I got both Mortal Shell and Demon Souls to get started. I've always wanted to play cause these games look epic and amasing, but got pushed away by the dificult. Now it the time, i'm getting in.
