Very few people in your life are going to be genuine cheerleaders for your success. When you start doing well, some people create a lot of noise about how you aren't that great, overrated or any other insult. The big difference is that you can be comfortable in silence while they need constant noise and negativity. Stay true to yourself and good things will happen.

One slight improvement from my last serve about 8 months ago is that I am going faster through contact and doing a better job of going into the court. Once I can figure out how to connect my lower body to my motion better, I should see a big jump in my serve quality. Out of all my shots I am most proud of the progress I have made on my serve...I used to only be able to hit spin, now I can flatten it out a bit more

Thanks RAD. With this one being my last match for a while I had a hard time staying focused. My brain would jump 3 points ahead instead of seams of the ball/exhale like I told myself to do. Definitely a hard sport but a good lesson to be learned

The 50 minute timed format for USTA is really difficult too because it takes me about a set to get all the negative crap sorted out of my brain and develop a solid working strategy. Gotta cut myself a little bit of slack considering these aren't full matches, but still good to know which emotions I need to quiet next time I am hitting. I can go from a pretty solid ball striker to almost no strokes just from the wrong mindset. More practice is needed and I am looking forward to the grind!

Jesus Christ (the eternal existing son of God) came to earth and was crucified on the cross of cavalry for the remission of humanities sins, he was then buried and raised from the dead on the 3rd day, the only way to have salvation (to be justified in the eyes of God and have eternal life) is to believe this gospel message, you cannot earth this and you cannot lose it. Few there be that find it. If you reject this gospel message you are rejecting the testimony that God gave of his son Jesus Christ according to the scriptures and you are choosing with your own free will to perish in the lake of fire for eternity. No other religion / no other world view or belief will save you, only Faith in the blood of Jesus Christ has the power to redeem your soul. The gospel can be found explicitly outlined in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4.

Not quite where I want to be but not bad for 1 hour of practice. I think I am doing a better job of going up to the ball and keeping my feet together on the drive upwards. Still falling left a bit but I am slowly fixing that. My serve has definitely gotten better and more enjoyable to hit. The grind will continue!!!

Thanks Alex! I am always kind of surprised that people watch my videos lol. Shun and I hit together a lot. We are on the same USTA team for 4.0. I worked really hard to level up from 3.5 a few years ago. Both Shun and I are around 5.8 UTR which I am proud of coming from a 4 UTR a few year ago. Biggest things I am working on are my backhand and match confidence. Struggling with both but I will find a way through to improvement.

I struggle with loneliness at times but I know that it is better to receive recognition from people who have gone through your same level of difficulty as opposed to just being there and acknowledging your existence. A lot of people don't understand how difficult tennis is so I used to cut myself down with my accomplishments because of "so what" type comments after my wins. I played a really athletic basketball guy sophomore year of high school because he thought tennis was a joke. I won 7-5 6-0. I would win 6-0 6-0 today but early on I was very insecure about myself and still beat him.

Absolutely! As a player and coach I have to hold myself accountable to keep getting better no matter the level. I am by no means a professional level player but I am encountering these tough moments in my journey that are making me better. That's why I think tennis is such a great sport because the challenge scales to the exact challenge you need to become mentally and physically stronger.

You're not as bad as you think. With practice your own stroke style will emerge but it takes a lot of practice. The only thing I will say is you're very armsy with your strokes. I feel like if you can get in the mindset of using your legs more (especially on your backhand) you'll see a lot of improvement. Happy hitting.

Thanks for being my first official comment nubprac! I never really expected anyone except my friends/family to even see these haha. You are absolutely right about me arming my shots. Forehand side is much better but my BH side is stiff due to tension. Hitting the gym and reps once it is warmer to work on it. I'm excited to put the reps in and work towards USTA 4.5

Not a lot of rallies by either of us on this one. My body was more tired than 13 minutes of tennis though. Lol. Probably due to all the servers I missed. Or the killer warm up. Haha
