I have a photo of one of my grandsons pinning the officer's badge on his dad (my son) who is in the Navy. The icing on the cake was when his oldest brother (then in the AF) got to give him his first official salute, and the traditional silver dollar. It's a cherished photo and I' a proud mama.

one of the finest marines i ever worked with as a navy EM1 was a staff NCO with the USS JFK mardet. he taught more about leadership, honor, and commitment than any navy school ever could. my run aboard JFK was the highlight of my entire career. this vid is pure Gold.

A blessing young man from God, your family, your child to you. I beg you, never forget this moment. My father passed two years ago almost to the date, 84 USMC. He never shared with us, my three siblings and I his world in the USMC. I wish you wisdom of how to share, when to share, how to share... like this with you child so they will never wonder. Be a great father first. THIS weather you believe it or not is EXACTLY what the USMC creates you to be. Strong, proud, a role model. Your family, you children will forever respect you. You sir, you and they may never understand (I pray they NEVER have to get involved) the USMC. Core, family, God... all is one. Your child, my father said the Core broke him and when he left, he became a new human. A father. Respect sir, God bless you, your family, the USA and the USMC.
