Sounds Pink Floydish to me
Try playing sitting down with a slide, a wah, and a swell pedal.
The thought of slide WITH wah had never occurred to me. It sounds very cool. Now I’m thinking about what other combinations I should try. Thanks for sharing.
I love distortion on acoustic guitars, it’s also amazing on mandolin.
Gorgeous, and such a good lesson
Thanks, Kate. This was an extra filmed moment I sent my Groove Guitar students about chord choices. YOU choose chords by energy and emotion, how they make you feel when you compose songs. I love your music.
I can tell by the meters your not using the distressor correctly yet, takes a while.. try and have them breath with the music more,
Also, the audio is not in sync with the footage/meters. But I’m sure you’re right.
Give us your Distressor tips?
@@LaurenPassarelli Looks like you’re hitting it too hard. And attack and release were not set correctly , It’s a very unique tool. Start with 4 to 1 and try some differentl material through it. Drums vocals bass. All need different settings.
I've been in the box for awhile now (started with garageband way back in the 2000's), now I'm learning the power of hybrid mixing with a Portastudio 488, a JHS Color Box and some reamping through an old Akai reel to reel with a tube preamp. I'm never going back to a completely ITB mixing or recording setup. Working my way towards the kind of setup you've got going on here eventually, it looks so fun... thanks for the inspiration!
Never going back because of the sound, fun…?
@@LaurenPassarelli Haha, I suppose the "fun" part is subjective. I'm enjoying having more than just a mouse to mix. The flexibility in the box is great, but my tracks have greatly benefitted from even just a little bit of the analog process and, as an added bonus, I'm not second-guessing and going back to tweak tracks as much because it's less instantaneous when I have to re-print everything through my setup.
Yes. Yes. It’s funny how real instruments, unprocessed or parallel compressed get the rap of , “sounds like a demo, or drums from the 70s”, doesn’t sound like an album.” Uh, those are the sounds of real instruments played by real people. I’ll always love that. And I like parallel compression and super cool productions that actually fit the song. I’m glad you dig what you dig. It’s so much fun to be a creator this way.
What kind of guitar is that? An orangewood?
Idk
Yes! Orangewood Oliver Jr. Live.
Wow that’s cool

Looks amazing If you don’t mind me asking why logic? I know it’s a great DAW, just interested to hear your thoughts, maybe you have some specific features that you really like ? Other than that amazing studio, would be awesome to see some mixing session on console “analog vibe and style “
When I gave up digital ADAT tape machines for Logic Pro in 2005, there weren't as many DAW options as in 2024. Pro Tools required expensive hardware. Logic included amazing plugins and software instruments. I had a MAC and Apple makes Logic. This channel has come along since and has amazing tutorials: www.youtube.com/@WhyLogicProRules. I'm currently working on a new (album) digital release called, Big Blue Machine and I will mix most of the songs through it hybrid style. These two songs of mine experienced the 4816 mixer: It's A Mess, and Peaches. kzread.info/dash/bejne/on-rw7BrktOfqLA.htmlsi=6sMJSOzmKwudMhSM kzread.info/dash/bejne/k5p7q6mvc8fLaLQ.htmlsi=-lkl__0CcL1KwvEU I have a 4816 playlist: kzread.info/head/PL1HcwONdBtUVkz7IXFfE5vukxoU4Dey3E&si=7RzTUKde4Rl6l8_S At this point I want to print some outboard gear results to use the gear again and decide what gear I may use as inserts on the mixer. You can do some cool parallel processing by assigning tracks to the busses.
@@LaurenPassarelli oh you started using it in 2005, now it make sense, wow it’s been a while Have a warm analog mix on your new album, (waiting for analog mixing video😎)

Thanks Kyle!
Nice space, I have my DA outputs normalized to my analog consoles inputs. If I want to use my summing mixer I patch it in. My outboard preamps are normalized to my AD inputs. I used logic for many years, but switched to protools a decade ago. I like both your desks.
Your setup sounds great. I'll look for your videos to see pix.
Ive been researching the 4816 for quite some time now, and just found your channel. You do an excellent job in showing your workflow, and how you utilize the board to achieve that. Looking forward to exploring your channel more!
Welcome, Greg! It is interesting how few videos there are on the 4816. What are your questions and concerns? How do you need to use it?
Just subbed. I’m LOVING the setup.
Thank you. Feel free to browse 'round my playlists. Lots of fun things for musicians and dachshund lovers.
Crazy you liked my comment from 16y ago! 😂 I was 17 years old when I wrote it 🥲
KZread hadn't sent the notice that a comment had been posted. I just saw all of these comments. That is crazy. Glad we're still rockin' 16 years in.
Great article about latency problems sent to me from multi-instrumentalist recording engineer, Rob Harkness. us-west-2.protection.sophos.com/?d=apple.com&u=aHR0cHM6Ly9zdXBwb3J0LmFwcGxlLmNvbS9ndWlkZS9sb2dpY3Byby93b3JrLXdpdGgtcGx1Zy1pbi1sYXRlbmNpZXMtbGdjcGUxMTk5N2JhL21hYw==&i=NWYxNzA0YmU1M2JlZGMwZjc3OTkxN2Fj&t=Y0RqT0xVc2RjRE9Qd2pSYThVVEVFempJR2M3NlRYNlNUWitSOWUvcHp2TT0=&h=edb24313949f41699ab7dd890d8194ed&s=AVNPUEhUT0NFTkNSWVBUSVaRULYO8kM_BWpdElTDSuFz1G0wmUbpgJ19Fx6Z3D-3pQ
That was Very Very Cool...Love your Setup ..I too have been doing this a very long time as well....LOL ..Thank you ..!!!
Thanks, Edwin. It's so much fun to be us! Keep enjoying all you can.
Yes, it is lots of fun. I finally got to point where the set up I have works for me. As you, I have three different keyboard zones that act independently and also can function as one unit. Like you said so many so many possibilities. it’s all fun.😊😊😊
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it. Thank you.
The fundamentals of mic placement are a great place to start. The basics are so often overlooked in these days of "throw a few more plug-ins at it".
Looks like you're having a great time. Love it.
Thanks for sharing! So valuable! 👏❤️🙌
You ARE a Beatle - fabulous!
Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing this! So kind of you! ❤
I looove your, Creative Hurts and How to Heal Them, videos. I even have a playlist of them on my channel. I watch them often. Fantastic. I’m always brain training and your work is ground breaking for “creators of all stripes”, as you’d say.

Wow, that was unexpected. Just stumbled on because of your Beatles drumming short. This was a very enjoyable video. Maybe you already covered the differences between things like Dominant 7, Major 7, etc and where they are appropriate for nuance. I actually don't remember any more. Nothing much in theory really made sense until I studied piano and that unlocked it all pretty much instantly but i can't think in piano whilst playing guitar. I'm rambling, lol, but i wanted to stop and applaud your video. I've been plsying for 30 years so I think I stay in a cycle of relearning all the stuff I forgot I knew, including songs. It's unnerving to be learning a cool song I always meant to, only to find 10 minutes in that muscle memory kicks in and it comes back. Anyway. I like yor approach and energy. I hope people find you if your other videos are like this.
Thanks, power beard. The chord spelling is the same on every instrument. Major 7 - R-3-5-7, Dom 7 - R-3-5-b7, Min 7 - R-b3-5-b7, Min 7 b5 - R-b3-b5-b7, Dim 7 R-b3-b5-bb7. You can look up the guitar shapes and find them on every combination of strings.
