    This is one typical example that marked the emergence of the Williams Sisters who vastly improved on Graf’s power and speed game and raised the bar of Women’s Tennis to a different stratosphere which is still unmatched. The power on both wings, the power and speed of the serve, standing way inside the baseline to receive serve, intimidating return of serve, turning defence into ferocious attack, The Williams signature’Drive Volleys’ which they created and their own brand of approaching the net when they need to. Graf was considered unbeatable at her best then came the Williamses ☝🏾🙏🏾💫⚡️☄️💎👑👑

    In the slovak media Daniela said that Sharapova was absolutely arrogant that day. She said that Maria wanted to go first on the court and during the warm up Maria was playing the ball only if she started a rally and because of that the warm up did not last long and they just practised the serve. At the end of the match Maria said “My home” because she knew that Daniela was feeling “like home” in Indian wells.

    Many people say that after the attack, Monica did not return 100%. However, I saw her win the first tournament in which she participated after her return, the Montreal Open, which by the way continued to win for years in a row until 1998. After the Montreal Open in 1995, she continued unstoppable until reaching the US Open final. There she won a set from Steffi with a devastating 6-0. Then, she continued his sweeping pace and won the Australian Open. Apart from that she conquered 21 additional titles and reached the last instance at the US Open in 1996 and the French Open in 1998. Not bad for a person who wasn't at 100% right? To another dog with that bone. The skills, the passion, her aggressiveness, her determination, her mental toughness were still there when she returned.

    Monica's comeback was at the Canadian Open in 1995 which was held in Toronto that year. The Canadian Open alternates between Toronto and Montreal, with the men playing in one city and the women in the other. There is no such tournament as "The Montreal Open".

  • @adalbertoroblesdethomas104
    @adalbertoroblesdethomas1042 жыл бұрын

    People regularly say that Steffi Graf would not have been so successful if Monica had not been stabbed. That argument is valid. Now, it is also equally valid to argue that even if Monica had not been stabbed, perhaps Steffi would have been able to make adjustments in her game that would have allow her to dominate Seles. Ahhh that other argument did not like right? Well, as I told you, it is as valid as what you say. We have seen many other players do it. For example, Agassi spent a long time under the shadow of Sampras but then Agassi managed to snatch first place from him and stay on top for 101 weeks. We also saw Roger Federer do it who was frequently dominated by Nadal but in the last matches between them Roger won 7 out of 8 matches and even got to regain the # 1 position at one point from Nadal. Graf herself in her rivalry with Sabatini at one point lost 7 of 8 matches that they held in a row until Graf made the adjustments in her game and beat Sabatini the following 8 matches that they held, which incidentally were the last between them. two. And so there are many other examples of players who made adjustments in their game and managed to overcome their nemesis and return to the top. Now, what I want to get to is that arguments and theories are just that arguments and theories, which may be reasonable but cannot be taken for granted. The only thing we can take for granted is data. And the data we have is that Steffi dominated the circuit with or without Monica involved. Those are the data. Those are the facts
