    Damn man.. I am 22 years old. T-Bone I remember waking up as a kid running to the living room carpet where my dad would be watching you, Lee and Tiffany, and all the rest sell Can Cookers, and shoot big bucks. I got the gamo bone collector pellet gun for Christmas after I saw your commercial talking about how it was the #1 squirrel slayer 😂. Just hope you get healthier in the most caring way man, we want you around for the long haul.

    This could have been valuable information. But, when the 3 key components, draw weight, arrow weight, mechanical/fixed broadhead are changed. It would have been better, if you were shooting the same bow at 70lbs, with the same broadhead, and with the different arrow weights. This would be a better light vs heavy comparison.

    switchback and monster 6, guardian. owned alot off bows since then, dont like tinkering, the bows since 2015 are investments for fools in the future, i will never sell the 3 since nothing compares to them. get a z7 if you want to learn hard tuning single cam but most modern bows are built for a pro shop or a person willing to waste alot off money on equipment. bow shop dream. funny 316fps shoots faster then most 333 bows, monster 6 300 fps 29inch 70lb 500gr arrows, some 80lb bows can beat it, none i have match the accuracy and are much harder too pull. its hard to pull but so much easier. still prefer solo cams no bow press needed apart from changing cam, bowmaster does it. funny technology has gone from easy to tune to needing shims, tophats, cams that dont sync so funny. any thought on bowtech core ss, gimmick or real deal modern tech?

    with the light weight, light spine, short range examples versus the better penetration of the same arrow and broadhead at 30+: I'm pondering if maybe the paradox added friction on the chip shots, and it had straightened out for the longer. In the absence of a bone strike in my observation, it seems like ive had better penetration with those light setups at that medium range. All that being said, ive been moving to heavier setups with higher FOC also, because ive got better results, regardless of draw weight. Thanks for the good video

    It’s not just tuning with the 250 spine that’s better at heavy poundage, it has to do with energy on impact and how well it will stay behind the broad head. What’s his videos again and all his arrows with the light spine flex way to much on impact which equals loss of momentum. You can get a 340 to fly straight yes but when it impacts it won’t stay straight.

    To be honest, on your first 2 shots it looks like poor arrow launch was the problem on your 12 yd shot…the nock waved around a lot after impact. On your second shot, much longer distance, you can see the flight correction hence the better penetration.

    I shot mechanicals for years and will never touch one again, the quality of the metal uses on the moving blades is thin and susceptible to breaking/bending. I've spent way more money on replacing broken/bent mechanicals than the three fixed blade broadheads I've been using for the past four years, sharpen and go hunt again. Great videos on your shots that is the best way to learn and figure out what works best.

  • @AlexJohnson7789

    There's so many factors at play with the lighter set-up. That being said, that first shot definitely hit the opposite leg bone. Not to mention, you're shooting a mechanical broadhead. I shouldn't even have to mention the series of issues with that. I don't care how light your arrow is, if it's a well placed shot, and a single bevel fixed blade broadhead, you will always get lethal penetration. That also being said, weired stuff happens in hunting no matter the setup.

    Yeah, at 80+ lbs on your DW. That 340 spine is weak for you. Also, you’re brave using a mechanical at that short of DL. I’ve had similar shots and not end well. I lost two bucks to a swhacker and rage. One buck ended up a mile from the property in a goat barn and had to be euthanized by a game warden. The arrow was still in him, and when they examined him after swhacker never deployed never was sticking in a rib. I’m shooting 71.8 lbs dw at 26.5 dl and 300 spine is the lowest I’ll go. I also had issues with slick trick with their flight even when tuned properly. I’ve had success with magnus stingers and now TOTA XL.

    82lbs and a 340 spine. That's pretty dumb. If your "manning" up to 80lbs... why not build a solid 550gr arrow?? You "gotta go fast" there Ricky Bobby? Is it because of your "pin gaps" lol 70/80lbs...250 spine...550gr...a GOOD fixed head and like a magnus or a single bevel.

    I'm very similar in setup. For 20yrs I've shot between 63 to 68# at 28" DL. I've shot every weight from 390 to 483grs. I've killed bears, deer, and turkey. Even at 63lbs for many years I've had full pass through on shots just like that. Our deer here in PA aren't that big 165 to 185lb average. I spent years using rocket heads and rage after that. Past 5 years was rage and shwacker only. I've mixed a fixed head in nearly every year to for at least one kill to compare. I've killed with nearly every normal brand known over the 20yrs. Still I run mechincals for the cut size, bow draw 28", and draw weight now is 71 to 75lbs for hunting. My arrow weight is still 420 to 440gr tops. My results with a setup smaller or similar I've never had issues like that but I've never liked sevr bc of the swing blades. Not saying that's it but my mind I don't want that movement in blades. I've tagged out nearly every year but 4 years on everything in that without bears included. This makes me question more what did you hit inside, was it the head, etc compared to what I've seen and expirenced myself. Mystical arrow flight as always. Great video!

  • @bryanbrown1476
    @bryanbrown147610 күн бұрын

    Much better results for me after increasing arrow weight. I'm not someone who is obsessed with sticking the arrow 8 inches in the ground behind the animal but it definitely is better to have 2 holes than 1! Keep tinkering!

  • @kellyskinner7282

    Shot placement is everything. You killed all the deer you shot at.The one's that went the farthest were the shots weren't the best. They weren't terrible but some were better than others. Again, shot placement is everything. Both set ups work, especially on deer.

    I would call 430 to 550 a midweight arrow. I would never recommend shooting a mechanical with anything lighter than that. When I went to 455 grains and 14% foc things changed dramatically with mechanical heads. My two favorites are the Sevr 1.5 and 1.75. I don't see the need for the 2" as I don't like unpredictable penetration. I also learned that tuning is EXTREMELY important with mechanical's. If your arrows and bow are not super tuned your penetration will suck.
