All about drums and drummers. Thoughts, lessons, tributes, creations and much more. You can be sure there is always a snare on 2 and 4, or near enough. A real snare, never a sample! :D
A celebration of a collective international passion that started just over a hundred years ago and has no end in sight.

Mate, that's as good a cover of that track as you'll ever see. Well done. Great to see it played so well.
Means a lot sir, cheers!! ✌️
Hmm this is close but the hi hat doesnt sound like its correct
Close. Its an approximation of the polyrhythmics Art does his own way
Very musical drumming.
Thank you!
75 years young.
He was on fire
Im sleepibg. Quiet!
Hahaha sorry mate!
my neighbours told me after 3 years of jamming late they go to bed at 930 pm. Oh well. I shut er down by 10. Lead guitar guy always showed up late. Tuned foe 20 min. After the rest of us had played a few songs. Happy smashing
Beautiful!
Grazie mille!!!!
fighissimo!
Grazie mille Sig.!!!! <3
I saw the SAHB in the 70s in Doncaster and what a band they were fantastic.
That was cool. Love that. I always presumed it was just some mad double tracked drum madness. Sounded great man.
Thank you so much my brother.
1:18 the man draws his blade.
Love it 🥲
Can anyone tell why the snare "a's" in the triplets don't line up with the "a's" in the hi hat in this book?
Those exercises are meant for you to develop your ability to play straight notes over the swing triplet "a's". 2 over 3 or 4 over 3 polyrhythmics. Its difficult at first but if you play very slowly you hear how the notes form a groove together.
This was always a brilliant song to start with but this is a total reworking with a wholly different feel but still brilliant. Zal has always had a touch of genius though.
Thanks paul. Fully agree, saw the genius up close and its all there, what a pleasure playing w him
@@louiemalvessi I could only dream of how good that must have felt. Unfortunately my three chords probably wouldn’t cut the mustard with Zal lol
Jesus guys go easy on Mangini. He's an amaizing drummer
Agreed
Sloppy
Sounds good tho
Fabulous, great playing and insights. Shuffles much underrated in rock, Peter Criss' idea on 100,000 yrs and Jim Hodder, Reelin' in the Years for instance. Thank you for posting.
Lovely to hear SJF98. Im going to check this Kiss song, i dont remember. Is it in the Unplugged?
@@louiemalvessi Thank you for reply. That was on the first album from 1973 and was used to set up the drum solos in the early live sets. Have a listen to the studio version and some early demos to hear how the song developed. I think there is a demo somewhere engineered by Eddie Kramer! Keep up the good work🤟
Thank you Louie and this Gentleman for sharing this. Bonzo was a shining gem set in the history of the music and watching this video brings even more light to him. Now, let's stop writing and listen to Achilles' last stand!
what a sweet comment 😘
Amazing!
Grazie bello

Yesssss, master of drummers
Thanks brother. Yes, that's deep water. Serious groove.
Not the best song to showcase why he doesnt suck
Thanks for your sage advice, NintenDub
@@louiemalvessi as in, there are much better songs that showcase his playing
Yeeesssssss
Remember when we crashed Eddies truck ? We were listening to exit stage left and full of differentiated energy
The problem is not if LArs sucks or not, it's Lars play in Metallica and since 40 years now and every year is getting worse than better
Now he is definitely better than he was in 2011-2014, those were their worst years as a band imo
True that, he rekindle the fire lately
Since Hardwired released he's been getting way better again. The last two years he's been pretty awesome. And also, the guy is 60 and has problems with both his shoulders.
Interesting song...At the Time his drumming always sounded "esoteric" to me, I and do recall asking many Older drummers if he was self taught. Also glad to see someone lay down the Groove & feel the way its intended- So many guys get it wrong.....
Thanks so much for the insightful message and kind words, sir Jason. 💪
Yes
😂 brilliant
Let the spirit fly!!!!
RACER X quote! Nerds rejoice!
Only a complete amateur would ask that question and spend any time wondering. Peace.
Love it!
You’ve got that drum sound really nice… but I don’t see any mics? How have you set it up?
Thank you, Avetorro. There is no mics, just the Steve Jobs one.
@@louiemalvessi incredible, sounds like you have gates and compressors and all sorts going on :)
Great video and explanation of lars' musicality. Lars isn't what he used to be, there's no mistake on that subject but he's still great for Metallica. Lars revolutionised thrash metal drumming style and created some of the most musical and influential songs and drum parts in the world. There are countless modern metal drummers that are praised for their great playing, that would not be here today if it wasn't for Lars.
Thanks so much, Lewis. Glad to hear you're onboard with my views on his genious. I totally agree with you, now thinking, to my generation Lars is almost like what Ringo was to the guys that came before. His sound, power, white drums, stage presence. Those things altogether can really open your mind and make you dream of what you can do too.
@@louiemalvessi Thank you for the reply. I totally agree with the Ringo comparison. Your drums sound great by the way.
Peart was a magician! Great drumming
He could goat's piss into gasoline!
one likes to believe in the freedom of music
One rikes fo berieve indeed!
My favorite Metallica song!
One of mine too! Loved playing it on our high school metal band!
Ask his boyfriend

You mean James.
Zal shreds , a highly underrated musical talent . I think he’s a genius.
100% agree
Nice video!!!
