    Why would anyone allow a rope to hang like that in front of a horse touching the ground ? It's dangerous for them. A horse could easy step on it and trip causing them brake a leg or cause another kind of serious injury. Especially getting spooked like he did. I've actually knew someone who let their horses range just lay on the ground not having tendered it off and the horse tripped over spitting his hine leg wide-open by his huff. Ropes or a range should be being held at all times not allowing it to hang lose like that . Every good experience horse owners know this. If they actually care about their horse . You just don't do it. No disrespect intended here.

    My husband and I adopted 2 Pryor Mountain black stallions ages 7 and 4. It was a trial getting them loaded. Then the training..........hard work. Got kicked several times, they are amazingingly fast and accurate. They are 25 and 22 now. Not for everybody, but great after years of hard work. The babies go for much higher $$. These older stallions take a lot of work.

    Lovely mustang. I always wanted a chance to work with one back in my horse training days. But getting one to Alaska would be crazy expensive.

    Having zero experience with a horse . I lived in Los Angeles, I road a horse once when I was around 26. I’m 52 now. My family said I was crazy and I couldn’t blame them but I did manage to train my horse(mustang). I admit there were time I thought she was going to kill me. I thought I may have gotten way over my head. It took me forever(2yrs) basically trying to figure out how in the hell am I was going to do this. . We now have 5 mustangs and she’s the most loving horse of them all. I couldn’t imagine not having her .

    That is so cool that you got to go just curious did you see a red paint with a little bit of a red roan mark on his flank in the yearling pen with no blue eyes, and he has kind of interesting markings, and a white stripe on his knee and if so, I was wondering if he seems chill or not he’s my competition horse

    The roan mare is pregnant!! And I agree. I’m not a fan of white. At all. A lot of pretty buckskins tho especially the buckskin gelding at the end that was 14.3 hh. Buttermilk buckskin. Hmm never heard of that ! But he’s the one I’d pick for sure !

    I love the horse you picked I had Mr. Pickles last year and this year I have a yearling pinto form south steens and I was wondering how come you aren’t a big fan of south steens? I was wondering so then I can keep that in mind when I do the mustang challenge next year

  • @LydiaDederasHorseTraining
    @LydiaDederasHorseTrainingАй бұрын

    Hi! Great question! I’ve worked with quite a few South Steens horses and have enjoyed working with them! Firefly, my personal gelding, is from that HMA as well. While they’re flashy and friendly, there has been a bit of a theme with the ones I’ve worked with-this is a blanket statement, so bear in mind that this won’t apply to all horses in this hma- in my experience, they tend to buck into the canter, they’re defensive with their face, and can be bolty. If you get them young, they tend to be much better! Although, the 2022 babies had a lot of health issues due to their dams enduring the drought while they were pregnant with them. South Steens can be some of the best horses, they’re just not my personal favorite for a 100 day challenge!
