    You should do those more in depth videos because I see that a lot of people that have purchased the remote have been having issues with getting it programmed and they are wanting to sell the remote. As you know, there is very little information on how to program the remote and get things setup. I actually purchased 3 of these and having some issues getting things setup and working correctly and I also use Home Assistant.

    The speakers are placed too high compared to the ears. If you move the band down, then it will squeeze your nose. They should be redisgned. Also, they are not completely dark (in case you use them in a car or somewhere with light).

    Do you have any links to the Lumagen integration for Home Assistant? My google-foo has failed me so far? I don't want to use IR, and I'd like to get events from the Lumagen into Home Assistant for automation (e.g. future screen masking - would be ideal to get aspect ration events). Thanks.

    IP control is the way to go. It amazes me we don't have more companies using that technology instead of the old IR. Roomie, SImple Contol, and now AVAOS (very limited offerings)etc. are the rare companies doing it so I'm glad to hear about this. Not sure about Home Assistant, don't use it, but an app based version, a la Harmony hub, would be great for those of us who don't want a physical remote and prefer an app based, IP control design. Thanks for the info, Travis, going to check it out.

Does the Remote Two at least do LED number touch keys like the Eilte? ... otherwise its an expensive doorstop for me. I also chucked HA (runnning on a VM on WIndows) cause I realized no one else in the family would be able to manage it when my time is up here on Earth One, Alexa is already a challenge for them.

It's about the fun of getting it figured out. If I paid someone, the money would be wasted, and then I wouldn't have play money to spend on myself because I wasted it on someone else having the fun I wanted to have.

    Thanks Michael. Home Assistant has been great, and since all my gear sits in a rack with my network equipment it is pretty great to simply connect everything with Ethernet and use IP control as much as possible. I’d love to do a video from start to finish setting up Home Assistant and then configuring it into the remote but id have to figure out a way to back everything up first so i can restore it after doing the video. I’m sure you can relate to getting things working perfectly and not wanting to mess it up to do a video. 😉

    You guys should consider doing more content on plasma TVs, Pioneer Kuros exedra. As you'll notice, your interview with the Pioneer technicians Is your most watched video. It would be great if you could get them back on and let some of use write up questions for them. I would really like to hear them talk about the faulty aging algorithms which was never addressed by Pioneer. It is still very talked about to this day on AVSforum. These TVs still have a very big following and sell for thousands of dollars on eBay. I would be happy to spread the word if you are able to get them back on for a follow-up interview. There would be a lot of interest and a lot of people with interesting questions. These TVs still have a huge following.

    I just got this on 4k two days ago. That scene where they destroy the ship (the one you have at around 16:30) got the neighbors knocking on my door. That is easily the bassiest scene of any movie I've watched yet. I'm curious, don't you think they nerfed the initial Paul worm riding scene for home release? I remember in theaters it had a lot of low low bass but on my system it's just not there. Not even my bass shaker that goes down to 10hz does anything on that scene.

    The JVC NP5 is lamp based while the Epson LS-12000 is laser based. Is there any difference in performance after say, 6000 hours? At the price of the JVC, should it be logical to get a laser projector rather than a bulb projector? Looking forward to your advice.

  • @av_nirvana
    @av_nirvana11 күн бұрын

    Great question. If you buy the JVC, you should expect to replace the bulb after about 3,000 hours. For me, the vast improvement in black levels and color accuracy offered by the JVC make it the best choice for situations where you’re using it in a proper, dark home theater type of setting. It’s going to give you the best, most accurate picture of the bunch. The benefit of the laser on the Epson is that you really won’t lose any light output as the projector ages. That means you can calibrate it after about 100 hours and it should be pretty much stable for the life of the laser (assuming you don’t move it to a new, different environment, at which point you may want to consider a new calibration). But, as you can see in the scores, you’re sacrificing some performance in overall image quality. Don’t read that as the Epson being bad… it’s not… but the JVC’s black level performance give it a leg up in overall picture. If I were you, I’d look at the used market and see if I could catch a deal on the JVC-NX7 or NX9… buy a new OEM bulb for it, and enjoy. Also, see what used pricing on the NZ7 are, especially as the two new JVC models start shipping in the next month. That said, if budget is paramount and the NP5 is top of your money, it’s a solid choice.

    What many people might already have is an AMD graphics card and Chromecast. There you can use AMD Link to mirror your PC to your TV. It is a bit more involved setup, but the upside is that you don't need _any_ extra cables, power adapters, transmitters etc. - all you need to have is both of them to be in the same network.
