Ocho Verde Wildlife Channel
Ocho Verde Wildlife Channel
Wildlife adventures in Costa Rica & South Carolina and anywhere else that I may wander. We are always uploading videos of the amazing animals that we find to educate and advocate about the local fauna.
We utilize Trail Camera videos of animals that live in our forests. We show many snakes or lizards that we come across on day and NIGHT hikes. Its always in a fun spirit. We may even include a cool day trip that we took and some of the sights, sounds, and food we enjoyed.
We are involved in wildlife projects...from Big Cat Conservation projects to Snake awareness. We provide simple laminated charts to enable local people to easily and quickly distinguish a venomous snake from a non venomous snake. This keeps people AND the Snakes out of danger.
We may explore some of the customs and traditions of our area.
So jump in with us and take a look at why we enjoy being outdoors!
ALL proceeds from likes & subscriptions or ad revenue go back into providing & promoting our natural resources.

Bery cool video. Great information.
Thanks! Glad you found it informative!
“Beware of an old man in a profession where men die young”
Good advice.
Bro just did a Fortnite emote
Wow the name of the snake is my name
Welcome to the channel, Scarlet!
SNIKT!!! SKNIKT!!! C'MON BUB!!!
🤣
So relaxing
That little guy was bitey! Wasn't gonna take no guff lol. Copperheads are pretty quick to strike.
For sure!
Dumb me thought a snake needed to be COILED to deliver the death blow. How wrong this video proved that unwise thought. How wrong indeed. Glad I chose to continue on in the video despite primal fear even just viewing this creature on a computer in the relative safety of a residence. Still scary to me.
Sometimes those strikes are bluff strikes to scare a predator. They can get ya, no doubt.

Not reversed this is very poor cgi or AR
@@shaunmawson-phipps6197 I’m pretty sure that when I edited it, I reversed it.
Are they dead 😢
@@GrokisChildsplay yes. Sadly they were both hit by cars. They are in my freezer 😅 until I can get them to College of Charleston Biology department for final preservation.
I like how he calmed down and ket you carry him off ro the grass after he drank his fill.Bless you kind sir😊❤
Thank you. I was glad it had a few sips!
@@OchoVerde Though I fear snakes,It made me happy to see you help it.
Grumpy Gus is gorgeous!!
This was back in C0vid lockdown. It really shows how some snakes have very different personalities.
Okay, so I've gone into your archive.❤
You do know that I wait for your snek videos with baited breath, right?😁 I hope y'all are enjoying your summer!
I’ve got another in the works! We are having a lot of fun! It started off so well with that huge mud snake.
He turns his head like a robot.😂😂😂

I seen vids of these been fine snakes
Cool!
I just purged the last Browning camera from my lineup. I've had more problems with them and will never buy another. Water ingress and ants gets in them. I currently have 8 Stealth Cam/Muddy from GSM and 11 WOSPORT cameras and other then a battery tray being down letting in moister and bugs, I've had no real issues. I also would NEVER buy another MOULTRIE camera. Just complete junk!
I hate to hear you had so much trouble. A Browning rep told me recently that they thought water was coming through the microphone port. Myself and many others are awaiting the new browning cameras that will hopefully stop the problems. I have never tried muddy. How is the video quality? Browning has the best quality video I have seen in a trail cam and records at 60 frames per second. While wait for the new camera line, I’m experimenting with the low and high end models of GardePro, with mostly decent results.
Very informative
Thank you. I hope you enjoy our channel.
Cool
For sure!! Thanks!!
@@OchoVerde you are very welcome
Picked up a yellow ratty today.
@@laveraparato258 how was she? Calm and curious or a snappy Pattie?
I intentionally feed the rat snakes in my area our chicken eggs so that way they stay out of the coop when we eventually introduce new chicks to the coop. A small one in particular has grown a liking to me and I’ve held him more than a few times. Great little guys they are.
@@Googlysaur rat snakes are so awesome. I know they can be a problem for chicken owners, but a few eggs are a small price for their work to keep rats away from the feed and hens.
I catch those at my house all the time
@@normanicol443 they are so cool. Where is your house?
Beautiful 🐍
It really is!
😔🐜:I’m saving are babys bro
Ok
The flies
They were pretty bad for sure.
Beautiful animal
They are very interesting animals, indeed!
@@OchoVerde I was born in North Georgia Appalachian, there was an Black Beret training camp up in the Blue ridge mountains and on open house day I would sell the snakes that caught to their snake house, I used to catch a lot of moccasins copperheads and timber rattlers during the summer months I would sell the snakes to them for their open house, the biggest timber rattler that I ever seen I didn't catch it but it was almost 8 ft a beast very old
@@frankhowell479 that’s huge!
Do you think snakes can bite trough thin plates made of alluminium? Like, the type you find in cheap pans and stuff I'm planning about moving to an forest-like place, and i'm not confident enough with the leather snake proof boots I bought, even they almost reach my knee... So i've been thinking about reinforcing them with some kind of leg armor made of thin alluminium and leather, and wear it outside of the boots (Srry for my bad english btw)
I don’t think they can bite through aluminum plates.
Were is a buzzing sound come from
It is rattling its tail in the leaf litter.
16 snakes n 2 days would b insane numbers for me, think my best is 6, and even then 2 got away... got several nights of finding 4 but nowhere near 16
It was really 17 if we count the huge mud snake that started off the first day. I'm hoping our current rainy weather will bring them out tomorrow afternoon as we will only have a high of 85f. It sounds goood... but sometimes the snakes have their own plans.
My old snake hook broke, another got list, I've been procrastinating about making a 3rd hook, I regret it every time I go out, hoping I don't find a rattlesnake n the middle of the road
Mine is an extension of my arm when I'm hiking... cant go without it almost ever.
Just found your videos from one of the SC Facebook pages where you posted about the mud snake! Just watched a few and am loving them. Do you have any recommendations for herping near Columbia? I’m a reptile keeper but haven’t done much in the field but would like to start getting out there!
Thank for joining us. I think the Congaree Swamp is an awesome place to herp. The SC PARC is as organization about herps in South Carolina. They sometimes do field trips.
Almost stepped on one of these today.. It was literally 6 inches from my shoe.
Glad you avoided the fangs.... did it strike?
@@OchoVerde Oddly enough it didn’t. It was laying flat with only its head up and didn’t move at all.. I think if it had been coiled it would have definitely struck me.
@@GhostOfficial-0187 they would rather be ‘invisible’ than waste venom on a non food item.
@@OchoVerde Thank GOD for that, I dodged an expensive bullet on that one.💯
"Don't touch me ya weirdo!" Ahh plant

Hey, I’ve got a question about my corn snake, people who see this and know the answer, please reply. I have an albino corn sake she is about a year and 6 months old, she will make these noises that are like small bits of compressed air being let out and I have no clue what it is and I have been wondering what I should do. Please help me someone.😊
If she doesn't appear to be in any discomfort, it may be just gas escaping... like a fart. But maybe someone else knows better.
Hello Frank!! Wonderful video Frank sorry to see the dead snake of course but look at how many you save with all your dedicated hard dangerous work ! Be proud of yourself Frank great attitude towards life nature etc long may it continue , whilst watching this brilliant post a moth landed on my tv screen and in true Frank devotion I released it unharmed with the help of a plastic cup and a local pizza menu ……it was touch and go at one stage but I put my fears aside and powered thru as if you was beside me Frank ! LoL I genuinely went fresh water fishing in Dade county Florida and the serene silence was broken as a child screamed “Moccasin” when I realised this child didn’t not have a slipper phobia and actually was talking about a snake I’m ashamed to say I was last seen throwing women and children behind me heading for the nearest vehicle to hide behind!! Not my greatest moment in life Frank but I feel I’ve made huge progress concerning the moth incident!! LoL seriously Frank thanks for letting us all into your world your a good man Frank stay safe mate from Tony in Kent England 🏴 👍
Great story there Tony.... Thank you for your support all the way from Kent England!
The kitty cam!
I always hope they are all 'kitty cams'!
Ahh yes, the harmless stick snake. They are very common in the NC Piedmont as well. Seeing that gator was disturbing. I'll echo what Rob said- people suck sometimes. I look forward to your next video.
I have run across more deceased gators in the last year... they have really rebounded around here and I guess folks just take them out when they can for whatever reason. It mystifies me with the price of ammo nowadays. Thanks for watching... I'm getting started on the next video later today.
Productive two days/nights I'd say. 17 snakes?!? I'm with you on the Gator dealio, people suck sometimes. Have the same hook you do, I need to get one of those thinner curved hooks (like keepers use) to get snakes off the road at night. My blue hook is a pain. Great for flipping boards and tin though.
100% agree that the field hooks ain't great for scooping them up on roads quickly. I do love them while hiking/flipping/poking at things. The first snake of the first day didn't even make the video either. It was that big mud snake.
Esta hermosa ❤️👍🏽🐍🐍🐍
Si, gracias!
I love green snakes, used to watch them climbing in my mom's rose bushes and eating bugs and caterpillars when I was a child. I've only seen 2 in the last 20 years- sad that they're so rare now.
They are still pretty common in some areas around here(SC). Pesticide use and manicured lawns have taken their toll on these beauties. Hope you find one soon!
The cutest snake I've ever seen ❤❤
One of my favorites!
Awesome
Thanks! This was a fun couple of nights!
One of my favourites, absolute beauty!
It was such a perfect snake to start the year!
