The first solo from Sleepless Nights you used isn’t even Andy lol. It’s Pete Black. King Diamond has always had two lead guitar players sharing solos. It was easier back in the day to distinguish who was who since it specified in the CD pamphlets

DeGarmo and Matheos are really nothing alike. The rhythms they play over are different, although sometimes their choices of scales/notes for short bursting runs are similar. I don't see much reason to compare them really.

Two of my favorite lead guitar players.. also Marty and Scaccia... I'd say that this is the hardest comparison ever, Chris had amazing melodies while Alex has great technique, nevertheless he doesn't lack melodies at all. I like that his melodies have some jazz chromatics in, however Chris melodies were a little more inspiring! Would be very difficult to choose one or the other. Alex's solos on the legacy were sick and crazy inspiring because of his youthful energy! Can't say enough good words for both! They both inspired me to grab my guitar and play.

Nuno is the more technically gifted but Slash has the ear. Both are wonderfully melodic but while Nuno will come up with the more interesting part, Slash will come up with the more unforgettable lines.

Nuno is a technically more proficient guitar player BUT GnR is the better band and Slash’s soloing is much more melodic, you feel it ✌️
two of my favorites of all time.alex is incredible and his playing is next level,criss is too.they are very innovative and can do it all.very complete guitar players.criss is very missed and never got the respect he deserves.

Without taking anything away from these two guitar virtuosos They are both amazing players and human beings . Both very kind and humble to fans and crew. you have to keep in mind that we have two different styles of playing and music altogether But As a former tech who was fortunate to work and traveled with both of these bands On tour together and separately With zero hesitation I have to go with criss . I believe had criss not left us so early he would’ve easily surpassed Alex. Just imagine criss up there with TSO . Alex was great with TSO but criss would’ve attained absolute guitar god status which in my opinion he so rightfully deserves because of the mainstream fan base that attends TSO shows. The world never got to see the talent criss possessed Alex is awesome but he can’t couldnt carry criss Olivia’s lunch box.

Slash is all soul. He can improvise back and forth. Example, slash and Izzy weaved back and fourth, they knew what to the next one was doing. Don’t get me wrong Nuno is much better technically but lacking the soul and improvising.

There's absolutely no comparison much like Randy Rhoads Criss Oliva WROTE every song he ever soloed over. Alex Scholnic couldn't even play Criss's solos live AND Eric Peterson wrote every song Alex played on. Without Eric Peterson no one would have ever heard of Alex, period. ALL of Alex's solo CD are complete garbage = Criss Oliva in in a whole other league!!
