Why are your walls empty inside? Sorry, I live in another world (Europe) where we don't have such interesting light weight houses.
@kmarch66302 ай бұрын
The walls are made of sheet rock or dry wall as some people call it. Its about half an inch thick. It's attached to upright boards in the wall that are spaced about 16 inches or roughly 40 centimeters apart. Insulation is placed in those empty spaces. The sheet rock is not strong enough to support heavy things that are hung on the wall so you have to use anchors or other methods to hang heavy things. US houses are made cheap because building supplies are so expensive.

Your son is a gorgeous hunk! You must be very proud of him, rightfully so! I wanted to ask if there was a component at the store for making a "huge" ironing surface, or if you would have to make one yourself? I have used that basket system myself and loved it, on a far smaller scale than yours. I always wanted an ironing surface large enough to handle the pressing of quilts and pillowcases but it was always sort of cobbled together and just laid on top of a column of baskets or file cabinets. I love your setup and i look forward to seeing your channel in the future. Thanks!!😊😊😊😊❤❤❤

This is quite a sensational makeover…especially your island; your husband is clearly a very supportive and helpful person. As a very amateur crafter, I had fallen into a smaller version of the same problem….non stop crafts supplies coming in that kept mounting and not getting used. I finally saw things differently and decided that I should be running out of things and not accumulating more and more need for storage solutions. So it’s no more buying, but ramping things up on the crafting side to reduce my need for ever more storage space. This is how retailers do it to save money. Less product=less storage space. This revelation struck me hard, as while surfing for crafting ideas, I now notice that craft room make overs are trending more than the actual crafting itself. One viewer commented that even if she completed a project every day for the rest of her life, she would need another life time to use up her stash and actually had to buy a bigger house to accommodate it all. As much as I admire your set-up, I have to wonder which is more relevant; crafting or storing as much stash as you can. One thing I know for sure is that the craft stash and storage making industry are busier counting their profits than they are making product. Just an observation that I wanted to share. May you find the creativity and the success you dream of in this new lovely space. It is to date one of the nicest setups I have seen.

I like how you used the term, ‘invested’ because it is an investment! I started with the Ella’s in my small attic space and love them there. Last year I created a wall of Ella’s that most of my crafting supplies fit in. My Alex units from IKEA have never worked well, and after 10-15 years of reorganizing and trying to get them to work, I decided to try the Elfa. I am so much happier with the Elfa units. I still have the Alex units, and made a wall across from my island work space of them all together. But, they are not very useful. I will probably be ditching those later this year for more Elfa. I want to build the shelving units floor to ceiling. The amount that can be stored in the Elfa compared to the Alex, well, there’s no comparison! I wish I had the space you have!
