    @@StarlightWorkshop0z at the end of the day I have limited time off at home with work and other life commitments. Family is always number one priority, then trying to run around and get some work done gets whatever time is left. Filming and editing this is bottom of the priority list but I think it’s cool to document what we get up to with our old shit boxes. If everyone is cool with the crappy filming and editing and happy to watch the free entertainment then that’s a bonus for them. 👻🤙🏻

    If I had parts to get it running I would. Aim of the current version is to get it running with what I have without having to spend lots of money on parts I don’t have. The shed is full of grey motor bits and pieces so that’s what this version will be. Who knows what the future holds. If I keep it and follow my plans for it, it will have a red motor back in it…. Stay tuned

    Just found this video. I'm from Maryland. U.S.A. love the holden wagon. Gives me vibes of both the 59 chevy wagon and 56 chevy. I'm a long time G.M man. When they killed off holden made me sad. Somebody at G.M needed to be dope slapped. They made some cool looking and performing cars.

    The V8s hated my ute back in 1976-77, lol. I used to blow them off easily.

  • @GregoryBamber
    @GregoryBamber24 күн бұрын

    When it comes to motors better red than dead. I had a blue EK ute before the wagon that had a mild 179, a HR disc brake frontend and drag racing suspension that ended up with a hp 179 bored to 192 with a 25/65cam, solid lifters, a stage 3 Yella Terra head, a Holley 500cfm 2 barrel jetted to suit and extractors wit a 2 inch exhaust with 2 big Lukey mufflers to keep it quiet. It was built by Noel Tuckey in 1976 before he went on to write for Street Machine. That motor could do 135mph flat chat. I hit a cow late 76 so my mates and I replaced all the front and passenger door except the drivers guard as the original was better than the replacement. I had it painted black which really set off the 14 inch ROH wildfire mags and white tarp. After the Ek wagon I had that motor in a HD wagon.

    If I end up holding onto it I’ll build it into a straight axle gasser with a blown red motor. But for now I have a shed full of grey motors and parts so will slap one in,, have some fun with it and see what happens.

    Unsure of the long term plans at this stage. I have a FB wagon that’s close to completion with an LS conversion in it so I don’t know I want to take on another big build just yet. Will get it running with the grey motor out of my other wagon, have a bit of fun and see what happens. Perfect candidate for a gasser build or if someone wants to put the effort into it, it would be able to be saved with the usual rust repairs etc.

  • @Greyghost_138
    @Greyghost_1389 ай бұрын

    I use a cube speed short shifter to suit a w40/50 Toyota gearbox. Shifter is mounted in the normal position which ends up sitting between my legs. It’s a bit awkward at first but once used to it it’s fine. If I had my time again I wouldn’t have used a foot brake I would have done a handbrake. Apart from that the car is pretty easy to drive. I hope this helps

    the screw in the tappet gears a old trick we did it when we ran grey motors in the FJ in the 70's the oil pump probably needs new gear old and tired think autosurplus do them

  • @Greyghost_138
    @Greyghost_138 Жыл бұрын

    Yeah it’s a weird one. The pump got done on rebuild which is now 20 runs old plus some run in time on various “experts” dynos. It’s always made oil pressure within spec but it’s always concerned me how long it takes to get oil coming out of the rocker holes. In saying that I’ve never really taken note of it on any of my road powered grey cars. With them I run by the mantra of the oil light is not one we are good to go but with this car being what it is I notice every knock, bump, rattle and squeak..

    Looks good mate good job I’ve got a cousin who drag races an EK called “special K” not far off an FB…… He told me once if you put big power through em the chassis twists and they need to be strengthened up….. Hopefully you won’t have to do that he’s doing 10 seconds quarter-mile, which is pretty fast as you know

  • @Greyghost_138
    @Greyghost_138 Жыл бұрын

    Is that Sam Rhodes from WA “special K”? If so I grew up watching that thing doing massive wheel stand launches. A very cool car and definitely an influence on my love for this model. This will have the usual chassis strengthening required for engineering, plus we want to be able to Tow our vintage caravan and nostalgia dragster with it (as well as hitting the odd drag strip). Thanks for watching 🍻

    @@Greyghost_138 Yup Sam Rhodes and his Mrs drove a yellow Charger - Cassie I think….. His dad was my mum’s younger brother And that EK Holden belonged to my uncle - my mums oldest brother - and Sam bought it out of the shearing shed on the farm in Narrogin in the late 1980s for a couple hundred bucks and it only had a tickle of rust in 1/4 panel I think he now for many years has a spray painting business called Vulcan panel and paint and he’s done very well out of it. I had an EK wagon that I let go due to rust issues and prioritising other projects like my HK coupe. Lost a few cars in the bushfires so decided to thin the herd further. I would have loved to do something similar to what you have planned. You have a really solid example there by the looks. Look forward to following the build. New subscriber. Cheers.
