“This thing is awesoooome 🎶” I cracked up! 🤣 I just got mine, this helped make a decision…thx!!
I bet you do. Have not been out there in a bit. Wanted to get out in the evening but storms have been keeping me away
@@nickhatzistefanou960 All of June we've been leaving before sunrise, heading back around 11:30, checking the Doppler every hour and keeping an eye on the sky. The rains have definitely been showing up by 1PM.
Yeah. Work has me planted. Only day I had off went out to Anclote. One day we will meet up.
Would it be a stretch to say.....I know where you're fishin'😎🎣......LOL!!
@@WesLovelace Haha. Yeah it was a great area too. We got about four Rat Reds and two 22" Reds.
So nice can we get it at India
Nice Linesiders in the open water.....If people don't know about the ragged lime rock bottom they just need to run up the coast in the skinny water in a 1.5 to 2.0 low water tide.....LOL!!😎👀
That's for sure. I just cultivated a new track that runs from Bayport channel north, just in front of Pine Island, that essentially follows the 2' MLLW contour. I wanted an alternate route for when winds are high and waves are rollers at the Marker 3 depth. It is shallow though and you have to go down the way swerving like a drunken snake. It has to be 1.5 or better for me to take that. Never take anything for granted. But, hey, that is where the fish are!
@@longstrangejourney4776 I've had my track for 20 years..... right by Rock Island, Pine Island Beach and and brushing the mangroves by Nickel Island.....From there it's thru Mud Bay the S-turn and into Wall Bay.....Kinda skinny but I never lost my skeg in 19 years with the 2 stroker.....Got another 20 to go with the new 4 stroker.....LOL!!😎👀🎣
Very nice. I veer out by Nickle and come back in a Net Spread. The boat that you see in the vid is a 1988 Maverick Deluxe. I just had the bottom redone and when I did, I replaced the Jackplate and moved the Suzuki up one hole. I can get on plane in 1.5' feet and remain, but I do feel safer running out a bit at Higgenbotham bay and staying with the 2' depth contour. It's not a tunnel-hull boat like yours. But I do like how one boat can do that and run 30 miles off in the same day, so it serves me well. I grew up playing on the river, but only started fishing the outer NWR and creeks since 2018. What is interesting is that I have fished it pretty hard for the past 6 years yet in the last two trips better than 80% of the areas I have fished are completely new to me. So expansive that there is always some nook or cranny that you have never ventured into. Such a treasure.
@@longstrangejourney4776 It's great to have access to about 50 sq. miles of flippin' beauty!!
With the chop why did you not go with a spoon? Jimmy asked me at the Chapter meeting Wednesday that once I feel full strength that I needed to hit him up to go to the Chaz with him.
Good day Mark. A lightweight Aquadream might actually be good, but you'd have to keep it constantly moving. There is literally 10-12" of water over top these limestone rocks and the fish hide between them. It is not river-rocks or pea gravel, but large outcroppings of rocks, so any lures that fall towards the sea floor will get caught up in these rocks. For instance, in a similar location on Friday, I caught two of those Rat Reds I mentioned on a Jerkshad on a rigging hook with a 1/8oz belly weight. The thing is, I also lost two of those jerkshad/rigging hook setups to the rocks. Its only maybe $3 to lose a DOA jerkshad and an Owner Twistlock, but you wouldn't want to do even that that over and over. If you have something that settles to the sea floor, you will either lose it or end up blowing out the spot to get out and wade over and get it (the boat can only get so close). Especially if you pause your retreive to work the trolling motor or something. Having a lure that returns to the surface when you pause the retrieve is key. The Topwater, Wakebait and even a Jerkbait are three that work very well in this setting.
BTW: When you are ready ping me here or on Salt Strong Community. I am always going up there. Give me a shout and come on board. Jimmy and I fish together a lot and fish that way often. We've both been working like crazy and he's participating in a few digital tournaments, and it gives him focused fishing time, so we have been fishing separately a lot this Spring.
Curious do they make a adapter for type c charging ? Like the Apple type c to the iPhone 15
I don't think so. Just the dual USB-A is all I see.
That's funny and probably true!
you could also flip the remote upside down when backing up. so right is right, left is left again.
Thank you. Your video was helplful
I'm glad it was helpful. I'm a pretty frugal guy, but there's two things that I will gladly splurge on: Quality prescription sunglasses and quality prescription dive masks.
Nice grocery haul!
I like the idea of building your tool with the safety line and putting it on the back bolt before install. Between that and the manual release valve reminder you probably saved me 2 hours.
Manda seu contato
Thanks friend. You may have just saved me 1500 bucks! The shop wanted 800 for the part and said 'this is an all day job'.
Yeah and it's already pricey as a diy if you want the factory motor. As an update, I did my motor replacement in that actual video at the time it was published. Still solid.
I'm going the less expensive way (Amazon). Trim isn't really an issue if it fails where we boat. Worth the savings to try it out. Btw love the fishing line trick... I'll be using it!
@@longstrangejourney4776 All went great! Thank you for your video!
One of my favorite ways to cover water! 🔥 Great video, Bill. 🫡
Never tried one. Will get one for sure. Great video and great fish.
So on occasion, in deeper marshy waters, I've fished freshwater style crankbaits with mixed results. If the fish are biting aggressively, the crankbaits work nicely. A wake bait is simply a crankbait that runs at the surface down to about 6 in deep. It can be really productive when the fish are holding tight to these craggy Limestone structures along the mangrove edge because, when you release tension on the line and stop your retrieve, the lure floats, so it floats free of the hard limestone bottom. Even if your lure snags typically, it's only briefly. If you twitch it a few times it floats free of the rocks. I've purchased two of the Salt Strong "Skinny Lipper" lures, which is basically a floating twitch bait. I'm assuming they work similarly but I just haven't had the chance to put in the time with them.
That’s what I used the other day. Skinny lipper in white and black with chrome sides. Works awesome.
That’s awesome. Saw a few the other day.
How's the cleaning?
Pretty Easy. Just clean well after use incrementally and not let any oil stain patina build up.
Been there don’t that multiple times. Just can’t get that 28 or bigger in there.
It's definitely tougher there. I usually move to Ozello when I actually want to harvest one in September. So much better habitat for larger ones and so much easier to sneak up on them. We've seen some big ones in Chaz, so I know they are there, but I've come up short so far. In fact Jimmy Tintle and I have fished the Chassahowitzka NWR consistently for the past six years and have only harvested one Snook and that one was just a hair over 28". I think due to the shallow water, they so often see us coming... ;op
Was out there yesterday. Lost an over slot at the boat. Broke leader. Was not expecting snook and only had a 15 pound leader. Missed a few due to jumps. Landed a 24 inch. I’ve never hooked up with so many snook in Chaz.
@@nickhatzistefanou960 Heartbreaking, but fun. I was running 20 lb leader so I was babying it, but with gill plates and barnacles, all bets are off.
Nice fish. Can’t beat that area.
I'll have some Grits and Hushpuppies with a slab of Spot Tail if you please.....LOL!!😎🎣
nice video sharing..always succes
Got the top pulled down and those wayfarers on and the spot tails lookin' to chew on some plastic!!😎
The only challenge was, though I found a Hernando County Trout limit of 18" Trout, I couldn't buy a decent Redfish between 6:30AM to Noon.
@@longstrangejourney4776 I'm finding all the big spot tails as far back in the bushes as you can get.....I call the back out creeks......No way and no where to turn around.....LOL!!😎🎣
I need to go way back? I only had a half a day Sunday morning and low water levels. Looking forward to getting back into fish creek again.
@@longstrangejourney4776.... I was way back in there last Friday trying the new motor in pretty skinny water.....I flipped for 15 minutes and lost a Snook and Red and managed 2 hours on the meter.....Definitely enjoying the new play toy!!😎
I would love to see a walkthrough of the boat. I have a 1992 Deluxe and love it. I haven't seen anyone doing videos with a Deluxe.
Sure. I just completed a renovation of the hull itself and the top side two years ago. I'll do a complete video soon. Just waiting for it to get a bit warmer to hit the sandbar to drop a walk around. I just put a new video up today, and there is one in my video list called Running from the Sun.
Looking good out there!
Great video, thanks a ton
So with the YakAttack version you don’t have to crimp or cut any cables? Just plug n play?
When you buy the unit it comes with a pigtail that connects into the connector system of the YakAttack and then you would have to crimp that into anything that's not USB. So for charging GoPro batteries or my mobile phone no, I don't need to crimp or cut anything. I just used a USB accessory. But for operating a depth finder chart plotter you would need to crimp it into whatever cabling comes from them. Garmin is different from Simrad/Lowrance which is different from Humminbird so those are not standardized. For powering a chart plotter you would need to crimp the power leads into the YakAttack pigtail.
Never heard of Bo berry biscuit but they look delicious! 👍
The properties I have rented I always end up fixing them because the landlords dont bother.
I'm trying to plan my first trip now with a 22 seahunt bxbr. Trying to know ahead time places that stay deep enough to cover a good amount of water and good spots to anchor overnight and sleep on boat or beach camp depending on mosquitos. Also wheres best to launch and get around for somebodys first time out there
If I hadn't picked a specific location yet, and I had a boat of that size, I would consider Goodland in the north first. It has much more generous water levels and well marked channels and almost all of the beachy island are unregulated. If you want to stay in the Everglades area itself, Everglades City isn't bad. There is a main channel from there and it goes out to Indian Key Pass. As you go out Indian Key Pass out to the outside, just to the north is Picnic Key. I think that is the northern most boundary of the park, so north of there is unregulated island camping. Indian Key Pass and the narrow channel that connects it to Everglades City is pretty deep. Your boat should be able to handle it well.
Very nice video
Amazing brother 👍

If I can only run as shallow as you, thanks to you and your channel.
@@MirrOlureManiac Thanks James!! You've managed to survive all the landmines in the Refuge.....Very few do and I really enjoy those who can get around.....It's almost an art to find fish in these extreme conditions... says a lot.....FISH ON!!
@@WesLovelace Thanks Wes, definitely learned a lot in the short time fishing there. It's always throwing me a curveball though.
Great video, fellas!
Thanks!! I appreciate the feedback.
Nice job guys! Odd seeing you both throwing plastics instead of mirrodines.
Too odd for sure. But we fished so much water that was less than 18" that the smaller soft plastics made more sense. Much quieter entering the water. I did catch one rat Redfish on the mirrodine 27MR in Pork Rinds, while casting into deeper water for trout, but it was funny as the Redfish wasn't much longer than the lure.
Yeah, when you are fishing that shallow hard baits are hard to throw. I do have a trick to do it, but I would have to work it too fast for winter fishing
Awesome views around those mangroves. Tarpon breaching was pretty damn cool. I just subscribed to your channel. Good luck and tight lines my friend.
It has been incredibly windy here, but that caused me to press into a small saltwater pond that is fully surrounded by mangroves which provided nice wind shelter. There are a quite a few resident Tarpon in there, but boy are they tricky to get a bite. Thanks for the watch and the subscribe!
Beautiful fish brother!!
Thanks Nathan. Those Hoodwinks are excellent and work great.
Nice fish
Thanks 👍
That’s a peacock
Really cool video!
Thanks Bill, I came to your page from the recent link on SS from your trip to the Chaz for Redfish on New years
Welcome! Hopefully you find the content both entertaining and helpful.
Now that's Xtreme skinny fishing in the Refuge!!😎🎣
Nice boys!
The seagull whisperer……enjoy happy endings. 👍 good job.
Thanks!
How’s fishin in the Chaz been.
It was good yesterday, but the tide table was very misleading. We had way less water than we expected and it limited the scope of where we could get. We played it slow and found a deeper flat that was near a zone that the tide had taken all the water out of a big inner bay. We polled around and we're able to sight fish two nice Reds. I need to parse through all the video footage to make the episode, and I will do that tonight, but we got most of it on video.
My Dad gave me an old Ryobi V Mag after I got into baitcasters. Its probably my most used baitcaster I have now and makes me feel good to put that old horse to work.
Nice. They are golden, the oldies work really well when kept clean. I fish saltwater and use two Curado DC reels on a regular basis. Though not technically a saltwater reel they work very nicely if taken down and deep cleaned a few times a year.
What reel was it?
I think it was a Lew's. The lettering was badly deteriorated.
