Not going to defend Ubisoft because I haven’t enjoyed one of their games since Farcry 3 but why petition it to have the inaccuracy removed instead of cancelling the game if it isn’t just for racist reasons?
This is why this is all about war: people defend something and others get angry because some don't care about history accuracy. People talk about "place of speech" but it's not that relevant when you want to force feed other countries about their own culture... this guy made things pretty clear: It's not about race, it's about respect to history.

Hmm I mean it would be nice to learn more about japanese history outside of the sengoku jidai(sorry if it is the wrong time period I have a bare bones understanding of japanese history) in general I feel most games just focus on that particular period it would be nice to see something different

Japanese historian Yu Hirayama has also agreed with Lockley that Yasuke was a Samurai. Then you add Sachi Hori the Japanese historian consulting on the game, that's 3 historians. Finally you can add Dr. Natalia Doan (Okinaga JRF in Japanese Studies) who also agrees Yasuke was a Samurai. 4 historians say yes. Please provide the names of historians that say no. Thank you and think critically for yourself!

Just to be clear, a “woke” person is someone that is aware of societal facts and issues. You’re upset about how your countries history is being misinterpreted, that’s what a “woke” person would do. Looks like you learned the word “woke” and just ran with it without understanding what it means.

And as if a company like Ubisoft actually cares about anything other than money. They obviously saw the success of GOT and wanted to copy it but needed some way to stand apart so they added Yasuke. The people complaining about it being woke are literally being woke lmao
I believe I heard something about the Japanese government getting involved. Then again, I didn't read much into it

My only gripe with this game as someone who's not Japanese but Asian (CBC) is them making Yasuke look bigger and stronger than the other males, while ALSO not making a Japanese male playable. It reeks of the ongoing efforts to emasculate Asian men by the West. I have a ton of both Japanese and Black friends, and most of my Japanese male friends hang around 6ft tall, the same height as me. For the Black friends, they range anywhere from 5'6 - 6'3. Yasuke is documented as being around 6ft tall from what I know. I believe there would have been plenty of 6ft tall Japanese males at the time too, given how many there are now and how the Chinese army averaged around 5'10 - 6'2 2000 years ago in the Qin dynasty.
