North Carolina Living

North Carolina Living

After living in Oklahoma our whole life, we sold almost everything we owned and moved to Western North Carolina. We needed a change…
Little did we know that God had been preparing our hearts and a place for us in North Carolina.
Being surrounded by the beautiful mountains has changed our perspective and shown us just how much we’ve been missing out on in our life.

The week is for work and the weekend is for the mountains… Each weekend we will try to explore a new area and bring you along for our adventures. We hope you enjoy our videos and that maybe you’ll find some inspiration and encouragement to finally take that trip or make that move! If we can do it anyone can. We also enjoy landscaping and gardening at our home in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Japanese maples is one of our favorite trees in the world of plants.

We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to email us at [email protected].

Being that I am originally from Colorado and I got to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains daily, I love seeing any mountains as they are my favorite place. I miss them every day, and that is what inspired me to make a home garden. It is tough out in Texas because there is no way to really mimic that mountain feeling.

God knew that we needed trees to do more than create CO2...thanks for your testimony. The special trees you featured are some that I always watch for. -- The Striped Maple...it is not considered rare, but I don't see many when I'm hiking (that was true of the magnolia also). I have a striped maple in my backyard woods (lucky me) that has developed black bark after the striations faded. -- So cool that you featured those two trees because the leaves jumped out to you -- they are special natives to the Blue Ridge and Smokys. You are so knowledgeable and also talented at creating your vlogs.

I have a Temple of Bloom (Seven Son Flower), Heptacodium Miconioides. It has year long interest, which is why it surprises me that it is not used or mentioned much! It is a small tree with lovely foliage. It gets fragrant white flowers that attracts pollinators, including hummingbirds!! These in turn give way to beautiful red bracts in fall…..and over the winter it has beautiful peeling bark!! Your videos are always so calming and relaxing! Your garden is lovely!! If I wasn’t so old, I think I could get hooked on Japanese Maples and conifers!! I truly enjoy your channel!!
