My philosophy is quite similar: I don't see the point of clipless pedals and bike specific shoes for a gravel bike, unless you are racing. There's so much freedom with flat pedals and normal shoes. I have a Marin too, a Gestalt 2 with GRX...good company, great bikes.

For most manual drivers, the occasional annoyance of driving in stop-and-go traffic is made up for by the fun of driving elsewhere. I don't know what he is talking about driving down winding mountains. That sounds like fun with a manual transmission.

Mine has play witn less than 1000km. It is quite expensive to replace (60 euros with discount but a deore is close), I will go for shimano. The deore is cheaper and more reliable. The shifter is not as smooth as shimano. An 9 speed is not enought, there are too many jumps and the ride is not smooth. So 10 speed 11-32 and 2 chain rings or 3.

I have RockShox silver 35 RL is this Recon RC in video better choice ? I have been reading some negative comments about silver 35. But those people maybe dont have RL like me and I heard/read that 35 its not upgradeable beyond that - spring parts. I just want decent fork to last for around 10 years of use. With servicing it when needed ofc.

always make sure to get 2 sided gloves. Plenty of brands have 2 sides, one side with prongs like this for grooming, and the back side with a surface used to wipe off clothes, pillows etc like a lint brush. No need to buy gloves that are only 1 sided.
