    Strick knife laws in Australia? But where? I can imagine in the big cities like Sydney, but at the Outback? Paracord is a good idea. You even can hang it on a carbine on your belt (where it is not a problem to get noticed, like outdooring).

    If you’re worried about the knife closing on you, you’re using it wrong. Poor Kiwis, worried about getting arrested… in the US, the “government” worries about getting shot, as it should be.

    Great tips! Does this knife have a stop pin or will it dull the blade each time you close it? Thanks.

  • @RyanGr33n
    @RyanGr33n Жыл бұрын

    The handle is two separate scales which do not touch. The blade friction-locks between them, meaning the edge never bottoms out, it will never dull from closing.

    Do you advise using an umbrella with a straight handle or a hook/crook handle? Are there are notable pros and cons for self defense?

  • @AlternateSnake
    @AlternateSnake Жыл бұрын

    I think both would be very similar in a self defense situation. Crook handles are for people who may have a harder time making that tight grip but thats when they're used in non self defense situations. While there are HIGHLY specific ways you could benefit from a crook, at that point you were gonna win that tussle anyways. So one should choose accordingly I guess lol.

  • @RujioWR
    @RujioWR7 ай бұрын

    I asked myself the same and decided for a crook handle. It is not unreasonable to assume that the opponent might get a grip on the business end of the umbrella and tries to pull it away from me. Therefore I think having a very solid grip in a hook gives me a much better advantage to pull the umbrella free from the grip of the aggressor. If the aggressor is stronger and bigger than me I am not too confident to keep a firm grip with just a straight handle. If that theory works out and the opponent needs both hands to keep a grip on the sleek umbrella fabric and I have a big advantage due to the hook, I might be able to even bind 2 of the opponents hands with just one of my hand, freeing up one hand to strike. On top of that Since I would not really swing the umbrella but rather use it as a pike / spear to maximize speed, flexibility, recoverability and range, it feels better for my main hand to push in more force via the hook handle as opposed to the straight handle. As well as being able to extend the think a bit further whilst keeping a firm grip on it. Try extending a straight stick as far as you can and you will notice that your hand has to bend in an uncomfortable way at some point to align with the stick. Another combat related adventage for hook: If you align the hook correclty with your grip, it covers somewhat your knuckles. Therefore striking with your fist but not hitting with the fist but with the hook might be an option, similar to a brass knuckle. I dont know yet if it can wishstand the force though, will have to try. everydayuse: A hook has some everyday adventages. e.g. its easier to carry the thing in different ways because you can just hook it to the backpack for example for quick access. If you come home you can also easily hook it somewhere to store it. Plus who knows for what a hook might come in handy for. There may be a situation where you want to reach something out of your normal reach and having a hook is nice to pull something down for example. In a very extreme scenario you might as well use the hook to climb up something if its your only option. Or you want to help someone to get a hold and not slip and reaching them a hook is easier than reaching a straight handle. I know, those instances are not likely, so my primary reason is the one I layed out at the top.

  • @Ramesiel
    @Ramesiel7 ай бұрын

    @@RujioWR Thanks for your thoughts! I agree, the hook definitely gives a better grip and feeling of control over it, and is beneficial if used for thrusts. Interesting ideas about the other advantages, like using it to reach for things or for climbing. I hadn't thought of that!

    Great product. I have the full size and collapsible, I find the smaller one really easy to have in car or with you and a great umbrella. I also adapted it to your Lamb Method videos. It’s a little short but otherwise great for that as well. And I have beaten on them both and they are hard as nails and keep working.
