I remember fitting a chinese turbo (designed for a 4L engine) in my E30 324td. Of course it pumped nicely, but it needed 3800rpm to build up 1.7bar of boost, while redline was at 4800. No boost up to 2300rpm. It was just too big. It's way better to mount just a slightly bigger turbo or make a hybrid (stock hot side, bigger cold side) than fitting a turbo that has huge lag, slow spool just to gain horsepower while making the engine useless within first half of its rpm range.

Was this a factory 6spd car? I have a tuned 335d that’s got a sutphin tuned 6hp28 or whatever it is. It’s nice now that it’s tuned but when it dies.. I’d like a 8spd if that’s a swap people do
