We can not just "put to rest the retraction issue" as concluded by Ms. Frenz Obispo, to the contrary, it must be RESISTED w/ unabated passion because it runs counter to the very heart of the message of Rizal's 2 novels, the NOLI & the FILI! The Roman Catholic Church knows she must fight the "retraction issue" tooth & nail for it recognizes Rizal's massive, forcefully argued literary works as the "can of worms", exposing the LIES, MYTHS, BLASPHEMOUS & ANTI-BIBLICAL teachings of the RCC (i.e. the doctrine of purgatory & Indulgence) as well as the unspeakable atrocities perpetrated/practiced by them. You want prima facie evidence for the rejection of the "retraction issue"? The fact that RIzal's body was unceremoniously dumped outside the Catholic Paco Cemetery, w/o a coffin, haphazardly wrapped w/a white cloth & left UNMARKED, speaks volumes! It's the message of the RCC, the Frayles & Hispanic colonial regime, shouting at ear-splitting volume: "Viva Espana, Muerte a la traidor" (Long live Spain, Death to the traitor!--you can also read it as, “Vengeance is Ours”), while the brass band played “Marcha de Cadiz"...

Those who believe the so-called evidences of the retraction fall for the old lies and tactics we have been fed since the 16th century. Ceding the archipelago to the Americans was humiliating enough for the Spanish crown and RCC. Letting Rizal remain as the brilliant light that set the souls of Pilipinas free was something they could never stomach. The retraction was a desperate attempt to erase that consciousness that took root long before the reformists began writing and working for our freedom.

I learned a lot about Juan de Placencia and his writings through this video. Thanks to this video, I learned more about the development of pre-Christian Filipino culture. A video written by Frey Juan de Placencia during the Spanish colonial period also taught us a lot about Tagalog customs. How Juan de Placencia`s Tagalog customs provide a major source of information on Filipino life before the Spanish conquest, allowing us to better understand their early practices, beliefs and customs.

One of the most lovely aspects about our national heritage that we can be proud of is the fact that we have the ability to learn about how our language came into being. The fact that we speak our own language sets us apart from other people and establishes our identity as Filipinos. As a result of seeing the film titled "Las Costumbres de los Tagalos en Filipinas," I have gained new perspectives on a variety of topics, including how the people in the past lived their lives, what their beliefs are, and how their social system functions. The history of how our national language was developed inspires me with awe and reverence for our predecessors because of what I've learnt. I gained knowledge of the customs, beliefs, and traditions of our Filipino ancestors as a result of Juan de Plasencia's work, which is titled "Las Costumbres de los Tagalos en Filipinas." Through this book, I was also made aware of the struggles that our ancestors faced. As I watch this film, I am filled with a sense of immense pride because having our own own language contributes to who we are as a people and lays a foundation for the generations of Filipinos still to come. Before the Spanish colonization, I was not aware of the traditions that were practiced by the Tagalog people. I am grateful that Juan de Placencia documented these practices so that future generations of Filipinos will be able to learn about the country's early history. I discovered that the people of the Philippines adhere to a number of customs with which I am not familiar, including those pertaining to their culture, laws, marriage, statuses, and faiths. My knowledge of Juan de Plasencia and his writings, particularly "Ang las costumbres de Los Tagalog Filipinas," increased significantly as a result. In addition, he shared information regarding the inner workings of the costumbres, including its purpose and origins. My understanding of the various Tagalog cultural elements, such as diverse communities, legal systems, and religious practices, has been greatly expanded as a result of seeing this film, which provided me with a great deal of fresh information and new insights pertaining to the subject matter. In addition to that, I learned new information about how the Las Costumbres influenced the history of the Philippines, how they used Juan de Plasencia as a source of history, and how to correctly use " Ang Las costumbres de Los Tagalog Filipinas" by corroborating it with other authors to determine whether or not it is accurate or a fake. Relacipn de las costumres de los Tagalogs, a book by Juan de Plasencia, was regarded as a key part of Philippine history since it contains a wealth of information about the political and socio-cultural aspects of the Tagalog region. I have learned a lot of things about this matter after watching this video. It tackles how the system works back in their time, governments, justices, slaves and dowries. We Filipinos have our own traditions, beliefs, culture and practices that we abide to even before the Spaniards invaded us. There are different social status like, Datu who’s at the top of the chain, Nobles (Maharlika) who doesn’t pay taxes, Commoners and Slaves. We Filipinos as stated by Plasencia doesn’t have temple but we do have what we call “Simbahan”, a place of adoration. Some of this practices and traditions are still being held by tribes and indigenous people and even the concept of Barangay are still evident in today’s system but a lot more different. It is good to know about our history and being able to discover this kind of information, it only proves how rich our country is.

After viewing this educational film, I believe I learned a significant amount of information through the help of Juan de Plasencia and his majestic writing works. His written work “Customs of the Tagalog,” broadened my viewpoint and understanding concerning the culture, traditions, beliefs, and various aspects of the lives of people in the Philippines long years ago. To think that it was written fifteen hundred under the Spanish Colonial Period, his work touched my soul as it was well written and greatly tackles how our ancestors survived during the Spanish period. Moreover, thanks to Plasencia’s document “Ang las costumbres de Los Tagalog Filipinas,” I was able to comprehend how our society lives in ancient times, the diverse beliefs, and the significance of different cultures and traditions we had in that period. Additionally, Mr. Ramos also discussed how Christianity was brought to our country and how it influenced the life of every Filipino. As a student living in a modern society, it is valuable for me to be informed about the past events of my country. Thus, this video helped me open my eyes and be aware of the history of my country. It is a great experience to be able to discover how rich the Philippines is when it comes to the practices and customs it has. I can say that the works of Juan de Plasencia are good primary sources as he well explained the remarkable events he witnessed during that time which made me more interested in studying history. It was like going back to the past and remembering the simple life we had before modernization. I am proud to say that some of the culture and traditions are still alive today and I am also still doing it. It made me appreciate more the life I have now and the life the Filipinos had during the Spanish period. Plasencia’s works contributed to the lives of many people and made me feel more connected to our history.

This account of Juan de Plasencia strengthens the claim that even before the Spaniards colonized the Philippines, Filipinos already have their own set of traditions, customs, practices, beliefs and government that they abide to. He provided information that are helpful for today’sgeneration in understanding our history and in discovering practices that are no longer practicedtoday. Even now, it is noticeable that some of the practices during the 16th century are stillpracticed by some ethnic groups here in the Philippines; the Bagobo system for example whichrequires the bride-to-be’s father to make a return present equivalent to one-half of whatever isagreed upon as dowry and there are still people, especially the elders, that believes in theexistence of tikbalang and tiyanak. Even the concept of Barangay is still evident in today’sgeneration. It is undeniable that our customs and practices changed along with time however, there are still fragments of our past that remain and will continue to remind us of our origin. It issuch an honor knowing about our history and being able to discover how rich the Philippines wasin terms of our customs, beliefs and practices.

This video helped me learned about the history of tagalog like how Plasencia was trying to say about customs of the tagalog He said that there is no equal rights or treatment for the slaves. It's true and it is really happening in our generation like the only powerful ones treated the smaller ones or the slaves harshly. And I'm really amazed to Plasencia on how He came up with this wonderful book full of wisdom that us filipino learned to understand both spanish language among the natives, local languages among the missionaries just to facilitate the task of spreading Christianity.

Juan de Plasencia's book, Las costumbres de los tagalos en Filipinas, contained various traditions and occurrences in the early lives of Filipinos. The book's context revealed various topics such as religion, folklore, society, and others. It also addressed some of the potential scenarios, such as "what if a maharlika marries an alipin?" ”. As I was watching this educational video, I have realized how it is important for us as a filipino to learn and look back on how our fellow Filipinos lived back then. It is also said in the video how learning about the Customs of the Tagalogs can be an important starting point to understand and learn about our country's history during the Spanish occupation in the Philippines. Through this video, I am also able to gain insights of checking credible sources as used by historians. Learning about how "Las Costumbres de los Tagalog en Filipinas" by Juan de Plasencia was written as well as the influences of this document to our history is such a great knowledge. It has further helped me to understand the importance of historical criticism, such as externally and internally criticizing the documents and the author. The contexts and contents of the Costumbres were also helpful to further understand the ways of living of the people back in the days, as well as their experiences. Also, it contains some interesting information that we can still see up to now such as cultures, traditions, and many more. I have also learned how hierarchies existed during that time. Furthermore, this video also explained that during the pre-hispanic Philippines, almost every culture, tradition, or ways of the Filipinos have changed due to different influences. It was also highlighted in this video the importance of criticizing our sources, as other historians did with some of Juan de Plasencia's works, which is through corroboration; that is why he and most of his works were used as primary source of history.

Mr. Nikko Jay Ramos introduced "Las Costumbres de Los Tagalos en Filipinas" how it came to be and the purpose of this. It opened my eyes to the early culture of the Tagalogs; stratification of their community or their hierarchy, marriage, heritage, law, and religion. What caught my interests are about Juan de Plasencia, for he is influential when it comes to the decisions in “Manila Synod” and noticed that Filipinos need to be united in order for the christianism to grow. Furthermore having insights to Costumbres is that there are Cultures in Tagalog and It includes aswell the main persons in the society, which are the chief , commoner or freemen and slaves.
