  We have used 25 of the SSV series in 7500 size, for the past 9 years on charter. They have done more than 800 days of hard fishing, catching snappers and yellowtail kingfish. The only service requirement in 9 years has been broken bail arms, caused by forcing the bail open when the swivel has been wound tight to the tip. Apart from that, zero service, and the drags are still smooth. Never had this longevity from any other brand, the extra weight is worth it. We have Just ordered 20 BAILESS spinfisher 6500 V11, thinking they will probably be bulletproof

  Amazing reels for the price range. I started with the SSG's and original Slammers, I've had probably 30 from 2500 to 9500. I got my hands on one of the Vi and started replacing all my reels with Vi and Vii. Penn has been stepping up their spinning reel game the past few years.

  I am glad century is going to produce the best surf rods ever made.I bought zziplex rods for years in the USA.I would hope to see the NG1,Quattra,and Dream Machine come back for the anglers and casters of these classic rods.

  I've used Berkeley Gulp baits for about 20 years and have ALWAYS caught fish from the shore, pier and rocks, both here and in the Med. Personally, I think live baits are messy, expensive and whenever kids are around you get lots of "URRRGGHHS!" TIP: NEVER store in your fishing bag - keep separate, because you will get smelly leaks. I used to use a small cool box solely for my Gulp and Japanese lures in liquid. Easy to clean out. However, I now use old cleaned out product jars with good screw tops, which stop any leakages and keeps the lures fresh. You can even buy what I call Berkeley's top-up or refreshment juice in bottles. I have also used strong fishy Far Eastern fish sauce product sauces as an emergency too. Once you open the little bags, pop them into a jar and they will keep for ages. I have also found that the "Gulp" plastic jars can leak too, so beware. I have caught all the usual species of fish in the Northwest using this bait - and endured the mocking jeers and sarcastic insults by "real bait" afficionados. I have used Gerry's of Morecambe on and off since the 1980s.Gerry and his team have ALWAYS given me excellent advice on fishing in the Morecambe area when I used to live there and on all other fishing related issues. Glad to see they are getting "Zziplex" rods again!

  I was lucky enough to use one of these whilst on a guided trip in holland with a westin sponsored angler and its hard to put into words how this rod feels in the hand. Its incredibly lightweight and the sensitivity you get is crazy. Very expensive rod but if you used one you'd know why.

  You missed out the metal band at the butt with the rod serial number that you can read and send to C for warranty registration. Well you can read it once you have got it out of the butt cap as it pulls off the rod complete with the masking tape used as a filler/gripper!

  Hi Chris, would it be possible to buy a couple of M4GT blanks I've been rod building for 17 And don't like the American tackle rings or the soft shrink tubing that century are currently using Plus it keeps the price down a little, cheers Nik, Portland, Dorset..

  @@mrlittlemouse1 I rod and lined 2 ton of Bass last year from my licensed boat , I had 200 bass over 10lb and about a Ton in weight of Cod , previously i shore fished for 20 years and it was not good then even worse now unless you go to Chesil in September , the rods make no difference as the fish are just not there inshore anymore mainly due to over netting , so if there’s something you can teach me I’m all ears fella please tell me 👂

  @@mrlittlemouse1 it’s not Rod and line that’s the trouble as YOU well know it’s the many netters shooting out 2 miles of nets leaving then down for days bringing back in then reshooting that’s what F--KS it up even when they are spawning they still do it , boats from Aberdeen are catching 800 tons a day !!
