    Is this engine so difficult to keep in good condition? Normal driving outside the city with lpg conversion. Regular oil changes. How many things can go wrong ?

    I've got a BMW X5 2005 e53 4.8is 98k miles on the clock, just installed a new instrument cluster from id4motion, upgraded the head unit to an xtrons, tinted the rear windows, 4 new tyres, oh and did I mention the lpg gas conversion? 96p a litre! This BMW X5 is without a doubt the best car I've ever owned.

    @@harley84fly - I'm considering buying a 2005 X5 4.8is with 102,000 miles on it. It would be my first BMW. I'm a bit concerned about the reliability of this vehicle. Which year is your X5?

  • @_J.P._
    @_J.P._3 жыл бұрын

    @@paolo-n2000 as a 1st BMW I would advise you to reconsider your choice. If you have money to burn then yes. Go for it and learn as you go. If your budget is tight and it took quite some time to get the money togheter then you should probably get a secondary car as a backup or drop the X5 story alltogether. The X5 is great but if you want to get to know the feel and engineering get a E39 first. It shares a lot of parts. And if you get along with a E39, which are fairly cheap to get and easy to re-sell once you want to step out you are pretty much ready to reconsider the X5 again without having anyone to ask. Or stick with the E39. Or get something else. The X5 itself is reliable but every now and then you are up to a not-so-small investment to get it back in mint condition for like another 120k miles before you have to spend the same money again. Depending on the condition of what you are about to buy this "investment" might occur the next day you bought it or the next year or with luck even later. You'll never know until you reach that point and from then you can start counting yourself :) If you are a DIY person you can do a lot yourself but when you are a ''I'll just take it somewhere" person then you'll need a small money treasure that regenerates cash once you take some out of it :) Despite the fact it is an older car that aged fairly well it still wears the "luxury SUV" title with pride and honor. You can translate the last sentence as well into money :)

    @@_J.P._ Thank you for your response! The more research I did, the more I realized this wasn't the BMW for me. Awesome vid. i have a ZZR 1100 D2. I was just wondering what bike you overtook? i think its an R1 with a race can fitted?. after you eased off the throttle to roughly 120mph he passed you doing at least 170 mph or maybe 180 so i doubt its anything less than a 1000 cc. these ZZR 1100's are more than capable of keeping up with most of newer sports bikes on the straights despite the HUGE age gap. i owned a fuel injected GSXR 750 srad before i bought the 1100 and although the 750 is very fast the ZZR is a faster bike no doubt. i loved the 750 to bits but the 1100 is my favorite to ride because of the instant punch at any revs. you gotta thrash the 750 to t least 10, 000 before you get that powerful rush of acceleration but with the ZZR its everywhere in the rev range. I've lost count of how many low speed wheel spins in damp weather I've done due to the huge power yet i don't remember pulling them on the 750 cause all the power is at the top end.

  • @harley84fly
    @harley84fly2 ай бұрын

    Hey thanks very much. Yes it was a carbed r1. Admittedly if he was brave enough to accelerate hard on the r1 it would spank me on the ZZR. Like u say the 11 would spin up easily abut the r1 would wheelie. I miss my ZZR I’ve had two now and might get another one again as a second bike. Fantastic bike.

    Hi Roberto the only thing I can think of is you're ignition switch. If you go on to Ebay and search Nissan Micra ignition switch that should bring it up. It's not to expensive so would be worth while changing it. pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201293445977

  • @harley84fly

    Hi Roberto. If you can unlock and lock you're car then I don't believe that it is the nats. When you try to start the car and can't turn the ignition then it will be the lock that needs replacing. You can find them on eBay, but one from a running car or a refurbished unit.
