Panniers are really useful. Backpacks lead to a horribly sweaty back, and you can carry more in panniers. Use your ears - you will hear vehicles approaching from behind. That means NOT listening to music whilst riding.

I did an 11 mile commute for many years. I started by driving half way and cycling the rest, which worked well for me. I am now retired, and the fitness that I built up means I am looking forward to many more years of cycling for pleasure. One tip - if you cycle through the winter, you are likely to be cycling in the dark. I had a hub dynamo fitted to power my lights, and it was the best modification that I made.

Simple mountain bicycle frame like Marin bicycles from 1980s and 90s horizontal top tube, vertical seat tube and handlebars as adjustable as much as possible ,simple technologies no super high tech crap ,just chro- moly steel and simple design ,good quality materials. A good bicycle should be adaptable as possible. I want on my bicycle - brightest front/rear lights -loudest bell & whistel - front &rear fenders -rear luggage rack - rear saddle bags paniers -built in lock -easy to repair with minimum of tools and parts you can find in any bicycle shop and hardware store

Thanks for sharing, other reflective items I use are straps for rear pannier and high visibility water proof/resistant backpack cover. Alternative to the spoke reflectors are 3M Scotchlite or Oralite 5650/5700 reflective tape for bike frame, wheels and helmet.

Your choice, but why support companies that clone Brompton? They essentially are ridiculing all the research and development time and money that Brompton has invested in its product. It's disappointing and you're rewarding the wrong people.

When I lived and worked in Central London, I had a bike that was expensive for me: a brand new Dawes Galaxy. I used to leave it get as dirty as possible. Not the chain or the gears, or anything important, but the frame, the mudguards, the wheels, were as unattractive as I could get them. This made it less appealing to anyone looking at a rack full of bicycles deciding which one to steal, I thought. It seemed to work as I never had it taken.

for tires make it thicker, you don't speed, you need stability and over 40 millimeter are the best, narrower than that is not good for potholes and all urban jungle in car infested city

Hello, i’ve watched a lot of reviews on this bike, and looking to buy it? but whenever i go to the bike link, it says “250W” in the specs, what’s the matter of that.. isn’t it a 750W?
@Jarrych8320 күн бұрын
This was very helpful. I think the only concern I have about Continental is a lot of reviews out there about super inconsistent sizing that's made me a bit cautious. I like the look of the WTB All Terrain, but wish it had some puncture resistance, and that's basically what the Ride Tour gets. But they sure seem like a good balance of features for the price, which is sweet.

32 miles (51 km) for me. No shower at work and they’ve been downsizing the office and stuffing us into tighter and tighter spaces. Car parking $ has increased exponentially over the last few years, and if I take the bus, the nearest bus stop is 13 miles away and I’d have to drive there.

My favorite was a Raleigh C50. I shortened the chain stays and installed a different fork(shorter and less rake) with drop bars, eventually it got Sachs ergo power shifters and Shimano drive train. So it now has good cyclo cross geometry . Had a torch at the bicycle shop i woked at . Cool now it's a cyclo cross bike with a sloping top tube that's easy to get on and off. Gee why didn't anyone think of that sooner. Anyway nothing like commuting on tubulars (the cyclo cross type with the center worn smooth) daily and being able to go off raod at the flick of the wrist with confidence . Still have it.
