    its really weird.. I have that same machine I bought back in the 1980s. It was my 2nd machine.I am kicking myself, however, as I had an older vintage machine that came with a table, but me being frugal and sensible traded that one in for this model.. I should have KEPT the table model!!. I don;'t know what model that one was.. but it would have been a nice addition. I do like my Merrit and it has served me well. The only thing WRONG with it is that it is YELLOW.. The Plastic is now this dingy yellow and I am trying to figure out the best way to bleach it cause it just looks gross.

  • @JacquelineJaroffaith
    @JacquelineJaroffaith2 сағат бұрын

    Yes, it's the sun and air quality that turns them yellow. My grandma use to say, was if your not using it cover it. Keeps it looking like it's brand new. I think 🤔 the plastic just gets old causes it to change.

    Please help. I have recently acquired a Singer 15k, the model without the reverse lever. My machine was threaded left to right when I got it, and the previous owner told me that was how you thread it. Now I've seen so many videos saying it has to be right to left. Now, my machine sews beautifully, no issues. Surely, if it was threaded incorrectly it would not sew. The needle is inserted flat side to the left. I'm confused. Please clarify. Mine is a 15K-1 from 1951 (and has a 100 year centenary badge on it). Is it possible later models were threaded differently.😏 Please clarify. Thank you ☺️

    The length is your reverse just lift up on it and you back up and then when you go in and go back down you have to push it down. Well I'm dyslexic so maybe I might have said that but I meant the other way it's supposed to be from the right to the left my problem is is being dyslexic, I see everything in reverse in my mind so I'm apologize for that maybe I'll make a new video Thank you for letting me know.

    @@JacquelineJaroffaith Hi. My model does not have a stitch length lever. It is the older model with a screw in knob to change stitch length, same as on my 1949 Singer 99K hand crank machine. I was not querying that anyway. My query is that my machine threads from left to right with flat of the needle to the right Your machine threads right to left. I've just checked online a pdf manual for the 15k and it states to thread left to right as my machine does. I was confused as to why not all the Singer 15s were threaded the same. Seems odd.

    Thank you for this video and the info in the commenrs. I took my 2662 Singer machine to a sewing shop to get it cleaned. The machine service man mocked me for reading the manual and for using metal bobbins that have worked in my machine for decades. Apparently, according to him, women shouldn't be reading manuals because they aren't smart enough to understand and they're just going to break their machines. The bobbins I use are the right size just not plastic. The plastic ones were very hard to source where I lived for many years. I've since moved, and the guy at the store in our new community would gladly sell me expensive bobbins that he claimed were right but he had to repeatedlytake jabs at what he percieved to be women's inferior intelligence. Your comment here in the thread about making sure the bobbins were the right ones even if they're metal was validating after this interaction with this man. Needless to say, I'll not be returning to that shop ever again.

  • @JacquelineJaroffaith
    @JacquelineJaroffaithАй бұрын

    Oh wow, I tell people to read their manuals it is so helpful to get things done right. Your manual would tell you what kinda bobbin for your sewing machine. Came across your video as I have a Singer 201-2 as well and love to see everyone’s machine. I wanted to mention that, according to the manual that came with the machine, the threading of the needle is right to left. Not left to right as you said in the video. That fact that it can still sew with it threaded backwards is a testament to how awesome these machines were made. Just wanted to add that for anyone else who sees it. Check your manuals 😊. You can Google a copy if one didn’t come with your machine. Simply search for “Singer 201-2 manual” and it will come right up. Threading instructions are on page 14 and 15. Happy sewing with the best machine ever made!

    Well, on this machine it wouldn't sew that way I tried and to get it to sew the way the manual said, I found out this person changed something on this sewing machine hub. Causing it to be threaded differently. She said, it's okay. Just leave it the way it is. Makes it easier for her to thread the way it is. I don't want to change what the customer did to her sewing machine.

    Sounds like you timing is off. You need to clean out the bottom of the sewing machine to see if the hook is caughting the Thread.

    Most Kenmore Sewing machines have a gear that makes the sewing machine work in reverse. Can you open the bottom of the sewing machine. To see if it needs greased. Check to see if all the teeth on the gears are still there. If they are use a clear synthetic grease put on them. With the sewing machine not threaded work the reverse until all the grease is in the gears. Now, if it doesn't have gears and then you need to oil the moving puts of the reverse. You can get a service manual. For most Sewing Machines.

    Sorry, that's one of the video I did when I was going blind. If this sewing machine comes back in I will do a better video. Since, I got my eyesight fixed I can see much better now. Thank you for watching and pointing this out.
