    So the part where the binding split and you cut a square to fill a gap...is that the only way to do that? I was wondering if it's possible to heat the binding on both sides and stretch it so both sides meet up. Or is that ill-advised? Thanks!

    I use the DVD case to keep the bridge up and after I changed my strings I took the case out and now everything's all out of whack somehow. I'm about to freaking sell this thing the strings are pulled really tight and the whole bridge is laying into my guitar

    God I hate Floyd Rose…I have one on my Sassafras Wolfgang and no matter what I do it doesn’t stay in tune…and if I use the bar and divebomb I lose tuning stability on 4 strings at a minimum. Sucks because I absolutely love the guitar and it plays better than any guitar I’ve ever played but the tuning stability issues have driven me to the brink.

  • @strumwoodguitars
    @strumwoodguitars8 күн бұрын

    That's a tough one to assess. Old strings can lose their stretch, Old springs underneath could also be an issue. Check that the hardware is tight also. Losse screws may have parts sliding when using the arm. Which is, of course, not desired.

    OK someone please help, no one seems to be having this problem so I don't know what I'm doing differently: Every time I tune a string to the right note once the locks are loosened, the tension of every single other sting diminishes, so their pitch lowers. Once I tune one back up to the right pitch, it lowers the pitch of the others again, so it's constantly too low and I can never get them up to the right pitch. I don't get how the string tension just vanishes into thin air, or how anyone runs into the problem of their strings being too sharp once they tighten the locks again.

  • @strumwoodguitars
    @strumwoodguitars11 күн бұрын

    You are not the only one. 2 issues here. 1, rather then tuning one string at a time, keep even tension on the bridge and tighten all the strings just a bit until final tuning. 2, The reason the tuning is going sharp when you lock the nut is the bar that is behind the nut is not tightened enough and the string is not lying flat in the nut. Hope is helps!

    So if that's a nitro lacquer, why with a spot that large, do a proper lacquer drop? The thin set in the cracks is a acceptable but as a professional finisher, a lacquer drop would have been the proper method. But as a quick, cheap fix on a polly finish this works!

    So it may have been answered in a previous comment but when noticing the very start of that, what would you or most recommend to keep it from getting worse out side of climate control. But by no means that bad as in the video. But being it literally just started hoping i can find something to keep from getting worse

  • @strumwoodguitars

    What often happens is that a small piece comes loose and lifts off. Then your shirt catches it or in and out of the case just starts to pull it off. It actually comes apart quite easily. So my answer to that is just be careful to not pull it. Without repairing it, I've also seen the area under tape which is A solution.

    In need to do that on a purple guitar but the chip has removed the paint so need to create paint match then do all that. Any advice?

  • @strumwoodguitars
    @strumwoodguitars2 ай бұрын

    Patience. Purple isn't an easy colour to match. If its a smaller paint chip, you may better succeed with car paint touch-up sticks. You can get them from your local automotive store. But you can also add tints to clear lacquer if you are wanting to attempt mixing. But patience to try different mixes to find the right shade, after the colour is down, you could follow the steps shown here. Hoping for great results for ya!

    Do you think the Titebond Instant Bond glue can be used as a substitute to Gluboost?

  • @strumwoodguitars

  • @strumwoodguitars
    @strumwoodguitars2 ай бұрын

    @NickVanCash Hmm, well, you should test the titebond on a scrap piece first. See if you like the results. A super glue in general will work similarly. It may just finish a bit cloudy due to a chemical reaction of the glue and finish of your guitar. If you don't mind and can remember, please update me on the results. I'm curious to know how it works for you.

    A few key errors here. Never tune a floating tremolo with it resting on anything. Always tune it while standing up, otherwise you will hear it straight away the moment you stand up it will go out of tune due to gravity. Also you should never need to use finer tuners if you guitar is set up properly. Tightening the locking nut should not affect your guitars tuning at all EVER. If your guitar is out when you tighten the locking nuts, the strings are not compressed enough by the little metal bar on the headstock which makes the strings lie flat on the metal of the locking mechanism. If the strings are not flat in the locking nut tightening the metal bar will mean you do not have to retune your guitar when you lock the strings down.

  • @ludwiglanestudios

    Where do you keep your hex key? I refuse to ise a floyd rose because the hours i practiced and improved my ear by tuning on the fly (from the headstock, as the rock gods intended) would have been wasted messing around with that floyd rose system.
