It's really great that unlike Dairanger, Kakuranger actually managed to get ALL of its main cast well developed. It is a bit of a shame that its story is kind of rushed, and that it could get hard to tell which Ranger was who since a couple of them wore blue a lot, and it would've been nice if the Rangers, as well as Ninjaman/Samuraiman, had about the same amount of Moves as Sasuke, Tsuruhime had more Moves based around Kark, and one of Saizou's abilities was better thought out, like not using a mask, but overall, while not quite as good as Dairanger, it's still vastly superior over Zyuuranger, and probably one of the best 90's Sentai Seasons! I agree, I never understood why Ninjaman was never counted as the official 6th Ranger, hell, he's not even counted as an Extra Ranger for some reason. He generally did a great job helping out the Kakurangers, and was also developed really well (way more than Ninjor ever was), so he really should've been counted as the official 6th Ranger. It's so disappointing that when you watch MMPR Season 3/Alien, and then you see Kakuranger, it almost feels kind of insulting, several of the Youkai Monsters were never used, the main Foot Soldiers, Dorodoros were also unused, most of the Alien Rangers were horribly ignored, the Kid Rangers Arc had a good concept, but was horribly executed, Gashadokuro was literally dumbed down when he became Rito Revolto, yet, still fought really well in Zord fights, so there's inconsistency with his character, and overall, Season 3 just continued to suffer from having to combine THREE Sentai Seasons, and would've benefitted so much more if either the Kakuranger Suits, and Weapons were used much earlier in Season 3, or the Alien Rangers arrived a lot sooner, that way they could've had more time to flesh out their characters, etc. There are some interesting facts though, like how Jiraiya's actor actually doesn't speak fluent Japanese in real life! Once again, solid Video, archer! With Mighty Morphin officially over now, maybe you could talk about the MMPR Movie, and what elements of Kakuranger were actually used in it in a future Video! See you next week when you go over the differences between Zeo, and Ouranger!

Couldn’t agree more. I didn’t like Enterprise when it was on, and through for a long time it was the worst Trek series. Then I saw STD and well, it lives up to that abbreviation. We didn’t know how good we had it with ENT.

funny enough Jiraiya's actor, Kane Kosugi, is japanese american and he actually wasnt fluent in japanese when they were filming for the show, so Kane is learning Japanese like Jiraiya

A 30th anniversary reunion movie is premiering on the web in Japan starting August 4, titled _Ninja Sentai Kakuranger: Act Three - Middle-Aged Struggles_ makes me wonder if it was inspired by _Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always_ that premiered prior to _Power Rangers: Comsic Fury_ debuting back in September 2023.

I don’t think it’s inspired by it, Sentai has always done this kind of thing for awhile, with Hurricaneger 10th, and 20th years after, Dekaranger 10th and 20th years, Abaranger 20th years, Go-onger 10th years, Gokaiger 10th years, and i would still count Kyoryuger 10th crossover with Kingohger. It just we would never expect a 30th years with Kakuranger, now hoping for a Magiranger 20th years. (Also this years is also a 40th anniv for Bioman)

There were a bunch of sci-fi shows around that time that tried to incorporate X-Files-like storylines. Space Above and Beyond and Earth-2 are the first that come to mind. Amazing premises ruined by the need to have a big conspiracy or out of place aliens. Seaquest got a bit of both. Plus the belief that ratings for season 1 were low because of the slow pace/ecological focussed stories. Season 2's focus shift is why Roy Scheider left the show. I would love a reboot, not a sequel, but a ground-up remake. Maybe shorter, self-contained seasons with an overarching plot. That original first season was kind of meandering. Give it more focus and character and it could run for years.

Good video. I used to watch SeaQuest re-runs on a channel here in the UK, can't remember which channel. It was a really interesting concept, such a shame they mishandled the series so badly as it could have been great.

I thought the show was pretty good. I was hoping it had more episodes but it looks like it only had 13. It did follow the pretty well, but it's just too bad it got cancelled.

2 reasons why bad: 1: Hulk constantly whining about how he really can't be a hero like others because he's the Hulk, Despite his overall character and personality at the time the show starts greatly contradicting that. And 2: It's A Fantastic Four show disguised in Hulks.

The exact comment I came to make had I not found it here. Jack was way more interesting and enjoyable to me. I liked Cleo but if I had to choose one I would go with Jack of all Trades every time.

I loved the first season, it had such a COSMOS vibe in something believable. Especially with the credits oceanography segments. I mostly gave S2 a pass at he time where I lumped it in with Unsolved Mysteries-type sci-fi. I was really in on the S2 cliffhanger, but the season 3 premiere pissed me off so much. I don't think I ever got over finding seaQuest in a corn field. I have yet to even finish S3 for more than a couple episodes. Also, Roy Scheider also was livid about the production move to Florida, as it was not the same show he signed up for. So he completed his contract and left the lead role in S3.

I really hated all my fav cartoons got cancelled way too soon not even getting a decent ending. And worst of all they did NOT get a second chance in the new era. Nowadays I see junk on the tv of writers trying waaaaaaay too hard, making alot of things too cringe too watch. Trying to make everything woke, getting writers and directors not even trying to to their best, some actually say: "I just took the job for the money". Netflix go to the 90's try and make something of our childhood, even making a reboot of gargoyles is on the table (just don't mess it up)

This is my second favorite sentai. I just really love the japanese folktale stuff they used in the show. The show being split into 2 arcs was really unique. I even love the mecha and suits. I also love mmpr season 3 with how unique it was with adapting kakuranger but i really think the show needed more episodes and to split the show into 2 arcs with having the alien rangers be introduced in the first half having them substitute for the mmpr team while they go searching for new powers by going on different quests. the second half would have the rangers coming back with kakure daishogun and tsubasamaru while the aliens got the muteki shogun and the jusho fighters in the first half. Both teams are now together and it can allow more variety in the individual episodes.
