I'm an award-winning composer, songwriter, producer, and live performer based in New York. Besides my solo work and producing music for film and television, I'm also the co-leader of the modern rock band Circuline, and work as a sideman with other bands and artists, such as The Tubes, 3.2 featuring Robert Berry, Frank Wyatt (Happy the Man, Oblivion Sun), Cell15, Awaken, and the Prog Rock Orchestra. I love writing, recording, working creatively with others, and performing live.

Genius!
Oh no it’s 6 years ago but this is gold for me . Thanks mate
Hey Andrew, I recently launched a masterclass on music business, specifically on how to virtually sell music online in creative ways. It focuses on how to build direct, recurring sales as well as getting your listeners to invest in you as an artist.. It’s free because I’m a youtuber and love to educate and help artists to go full time in the music industry, and there’s also an offer at the end to learn with me on a close basis and get the entire system plus some bonuses for a couple hundred bucks. I think you’ll love the value in the free class. Would you mind if I send it over?
A beautiful piece, wonderful arrangement!
this is very very helpful! thank you <3
It's great when a tester introduces the new keyboard that you just bought and will get in two days with their favorite songs!❤️ Unfortunately, the sound of the video is not as good as the musician's skills! Nevertheless, thank you for this very entertaining video! It could be longer, maybe 90 minutes, there are still lots of great songs! 😁
thanks for the vid, can you do the same if your patch is an alias and I am not able to access my patch library on an external drive. Is there a way to change the patch library to my external drive?
Sorry I forgot the MX before the 61 question about the second review ?
Question, you had mentioned a part 2 to this Yamaha 61 review but I was never able to find it ? Was there one or are you still planning to do one in the future ?
What a hoot😊 Such a sweet man❤
Thank you, very useful!
thanks for this I'm viewing 5 years later and setting up MainStage as you speak.. good stuff
Hey Andrew. I think I meet you at NAMM a few years back. Dave Medd introduced us. Dave bought my case company and we have been friend for years. Enjoyed the video and great advise. Sorry if you are not the guy that Dave introduced me too, but thought that you probably are.
I'm a drummer but great stuff Andrew, thanks for the run down 👍
Absolutely beautiful, Andrew. I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend, George. ✨
5/8/2023....Thank you Andrew. Winter is my favorite season. Loved the music and your video ❤
Fantastic in all ways--video and musical!!
This tutorial looks like exactly what I'm trying to do. The problem: I've purchased the latest ver. of Synthmaster Player and some extension sound banks. I've installed the player following the install "wizard". I cannot figure out how to get MainStage to import the Synthmaster Player as a plugin or whatever it needs to be recognized by MainStage. Help.
Excellent choices, excellent taste. Excellent performances.
Thank you!
That was great, thank you so much I had to come back and watch it again. Going to be playing an acoustic guitar gig and although I don’t wanna depend upon a sheet or screen in front of me, it always ends up being an evitable that you have to glance over at something to reference by.
This was very easy to understand and follow. I got a question. I got the Arturia collection and plan to use it with this software. Instead of the keys displayed by Mainstage is it possible to display the plugin itself? For example seeing the DX7 plugin on the mainstage window when performing?
Beautiful piano playing.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hey there Paulo, thank you so much for the enthusiastic clapping Emoji hands! 😀
Sound fabulous.. better then the original... Keep Rocking Andrew ...I'll keep listening 🎹
Hey Sal! Thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! I appreciate all of the support that you give me and the bands I work with. Keep on rocking with your own awesome keyboard rig! 😀
I saw Boston do that live in 1987
Hey Billy, thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! WOW, that's AWESOME that you got to see Boston live in 1987! I bet the concert was FANTASTIC! I was fortunate enough to share the stage with Boston guitarist Gary Pihl, during the "Robert Berry's 3.2 Band" tour in 2019. Super nice guy, and AMAZING player! I hope you're well. 😀
@@AndrewColyerMusic it was incredible, it was at a Texas Jam concert, the line up was Tesla, Poison, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, and Boston headlining...with a bunch of other lower listed bands. 86,000 people at the Cotton Bowl, wish they still had arena shows like that. the good ole days are gone forever. I retired from live gigging 3 years ago, its tough in my area to make it anymore. still recording at home though
if I was still gigging sure would have been fun to jam with you, you are an awesome keyboard player. I had a cover band in my area for around 12 years and did solo work all over the south east united states for decades, had a lot of fun, but so much has changed i had to just quit all together. altho having a lot of fun with the studio work, really enjoy your playing
I can feel the vibe!
Hey there, thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! I appreciate you being here as part of our extended family and community! We can all use good vibes! 😀
What a beautiful composition, Andrew. I'm new to your channel, and looking forward to hearing more.
Hey Greg, thank you so much for watching the video, and for your kind words! This song is from the 2000 album "Gift to Gaia", which was written for American artist Kirk Reinert's work to be sold in Japan. Upon release, we toured Japan, playing the music live and at Kirk's shows with Art Vivant. We sold about 2500 units, and then it just kind of sat there for.....20 years. In 2020, after the Producer of the album passed away, I got the rights back to the music, did a re-release of the album, and started releasing some videos. Thank you so much! I will be sure to check out your work as well! 😀
22k views and only 700 subs? COME ON GUYS…
With The new versión of Cakewalk I can not The arturia vst work, play
Very helpful Andrew Thank You very much Sir.
Amazing performances !!!! 👍👍👍
Hello James, thank you so much for watching the video, and for the kind words! 😆🎹🎵
Stunning music video, tranquil, peaceful and a real massage for the soul. Excellent job ❤️
Andrew I dont know what Im doing wrong but I bought this keyboard for the fact I can change sounds and hold the old sounds with my sustain peddle while I change to the new. I cant seem to make it work. Can you tell me how you did this?
How to map every each key to control Logic Pro x loops transpose, and the reason why because I want to use Logic loops as a styles like in arranger keyboard to play live.
Hey there, thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! I made this video in 2014, so it's interesting that you found it here! I use many different types of keyboards, software, and hardware, but I am not currently a Logic user, so I'm sorry, but at the present time I don't have plans to make a video describing what you're asking about. BUT thank you so much for the question, and if I do start using Logic, I will be sure to do a video on it, and comment back to you here! Thank you so much. - Andrew Colyer, New York 😀
I came across the "Prog Rock Orchestra" on Amazon (really enjoying their cover of The Court of the Crimson King) and was intrigued. There's very little info on the internet about them. Now I see that Circuline's keyboardist was a part of that band! I like the song here on this video.
Hi, great tutorial!! I'm looking for an app for my band whereby the singer has a master ipad and the 3 band members have slave ipads. So when the singer selects a song depending what he feels the crowd should here, everyone else knows what song is next rather than him having to turn around and tell us!!
OnSong does this.
Amazing!!! Loved hearing Life Beyond LA in there!
Hey Charles! Thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! With Robert Berry's "3.2 Band", we opened our show with that song every night, on our 29-date North American tour in Fall 2019. It's a fun tune, and it was always nice to kick things off with that one. 😀 We should hopefully have a CD/DVD/Blu-ray out soon, with that song being featured on it. Thank you so much! 😀
I want to use iPad as a Sampler player, what a waste to use it only to read music notation, I think a musician on stage must know by memory the whole songs so he can feel what he is playing.
So you only use iPad like an electronic music script? wow!
Can you plz help me? I can only hear sounds on the virtual keyboard but when I try to play on my actual keyboard no sounds come out
Hi Andrew.. Great video it helped me tremendously.. I am new to using an Ipad for live use.. Never used one before, I am old school with tons of chord changes and notes written in tablets, notebooks, song lists etc., you get the picture... It will be so nice to just carry an Ipad and a extra stand to handle all the music notation.. I was working with 2 bands as a fill in player and had to learn over 100 songs for each band in only a few days and retain all the information.. This looks like the answer to my prayers.. Thank you again for taking the time to create this video.. Take care and God bless...
Anybody know what song he was playing at the beginning of the video?
It’s a song called ‘The Way It Is’ by Bruce Hornsby
Where is the first gig?, With 3.2 , is available on KZread? Thanks
Hey there Miguel, thank you so much for watching the video, and for commenting! There are many 3.2 Band videos available on KZread, from our 29-date North American 2019 Tour. Try searching for "Robert Berry" or "3.2 Band". Thanks! 😀
@@AndrewColyerMusic ...Andrew, wasn't there some talk on Facebook a while back about Robert releasing a video of one of the 3.2 shows from later in the 2019 tour? Just curious if that's still in the works...
@@johncolling673 - We've had a CD/DVD/Blu-ray product from our 2019 ProgStock performance ready to go for production and distribution for months now. Frontiers Record Label is supposed to release it. We're waiting on them.......
Or you could just you learn your material and nail it. It's impossible to sing a song with conviction if you do not know the lyrics! Or play a song with conviction if you don't know the changes!
That's true with artists who are playing their own music with highly polished and repeated sets. However, wedding band hacks who are playing tons of different songs and requests need to have the music with them. However, I agree that a song is not truly "nailed" unless it's memorized and internalized.
Hi Andrew, do you know if the Transport controls that appear on some of the keyboard controller templates are editable as are the pads, sliders and pots.. Been trying all day to get information about setting up the transport buttons from the model I bought (Keylab61 Essential) but I can't seem to get any info from Arturia or their site about it. Needless to say it doesn't work out of the box at all other than sending note PB and MW info. Thanks.
You are a salesmans dream!
HAHA dude - you are probably right! 😀
friend, I have the same controller I would like to know if you could help me
