I'm around these guys age so for me being more of a hard rock fan than of any other music Nirvana was the current hard rock band that era where amazing bands like Zeppelin, Aerosmith, etc were 70s bands I graduated in 86 and MTV was New Wave and rap neither of which I liked. During highschool I would go to AC DC and Judas Priest concerts but by 90 they were old and I wanted something different. Hair bands I didn't care so when Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins came along it was new hard rock to me. I grew up in the St Louis area so we listened to hard rock and Hank Jr while underage drinking. Good times
