Don’t know if this name of group, if so than fine, but Fiji is not Polynesian for non Pacifica’s who might come across this. Polynesia is just part of peoples inhabiting Pacific islands. French explorers separated us by appearence, even though our cultures & languages are more similar than different. There are Melanesians and Micronesians as well, and not in small quantities either.

@@Kaiviti_JonteFijians are both Melanesian and Polynesian because culturally, linguistically and the way of life of Itaukei is Polynesian but the skin is Melanesian. The classification was done by the palagi's but Itaukei Viti ties more to Polynesia then to Melanesian. @@benbasaga2013 Thats actually not true. Our culture is really melanesian, you can see it. Our skin & features isnt what makes us Melanesian. Our language, culture, & island is Melanesian. We just have Polynesian influences & islands.

@@Kaiviti_Jonte No, the culture is Polynesian from the tapa, the chiefly system, the tobe, etc which is more related to Tonga and Samoa and people see it. And same for the language, it's Austronesian whereas only some parts in Melanesia speak it but in Fiji it's language is an ancient Austronesian language that is Polynesian and related to Tongans and Samoan, structure and phonetic wise.
