I have degree in Software Engineering (aka Programming). I am The Professor of Operating Systems (OS), software and such. To install ANY software, you must NEVER mess with your OS, or anti-virus, or such. Any "software" that requires you to do that is made by Communists spies who wants to steal your data. (PS: do not reply. I need no answer from mechanics). Requiring new OS is like saying: if you are going to buy a car, you need to remove all concrete in your driveway / garage and install new concrete / pavement so that you can drive car in. Requiring to disable firewall (or anti-virus) is like saying: we are going to pay you by check a lot of money: give us your Debit card and PIN so we can pay you.

How do you reprogram the steering wheel using the service mode? Is it available still in 2024?

At the time of this video, NTSB recall for horn under airbag was not in effect. The steering wheel I used in this video was plug n play at that time. Recently, I have tried to do a software reinstall when installing the new steering wheel with the new horn location and was not successful at clearing the errors.

@@AustinEVonly thank you for the info. Im trying to get a price from tesla but the information is everywhere. Some people got a replacement for free, some $700 retrofit and I even heard $1,700... such a frustrating experience.

For anyone who wants to know - the paddle gear is available from Tesla and others for a few bucks. Save more than $90 and make it a lot easier. Also, no reason to loosen the window regulator. just slide the handle behind it to the front of the car, and then out towards the rear in front of the regulator. But helpful to remind me - ours is doing the open all the time thing.

Hi, I have a 2011 leaf and in need of the onboard charger. It seems when i check on ebay the part numbers and letters are different. Does it matter if i get a used one with different numbers and letters? Also does it matter of which charger i need if single charger port or dual port type?

What if you can’t supercharge because of chg f_012 fc contactors drive circuit short to ground. Seems like the drive circuit is located in the gen 1 which switches the hvjb fc contactors closed. No issues otherwise. No codes and drives perfect. I might open it up and see what could be shorted. Just wondering if you have an idea because no one has fixed this and I’ve tried many on board chargers from working supercharging cars. It has to be a code or a small short in the onboard chargers themselves.

@AustinEVonly Thanks for this video. I just replaced my front Aft links after cutting the bolt out and replaced them with Tesla supplied bolts and now the alignment on the passenger front won't align lower than -1.2 degrees of camber. Did you find a solution to this problem?

No. I now know why it cost $1000 to fix. The plastic piece that this actuator turns broke off. I tried to glue it back, but the glue didn't hold. One needs to replace the whole air box and it's a PITA to get out. Oh, and the car's horn attaches to the air box. Not sure why they can't reuse the horn, but it makes (a little more) sense why they are quoting a new horn as part of the air box replacement

One desoldering technique that I have used from time to time is to heat the solder, and blow compressed air on the wet joint. Be sure to remove all the splatter from the board, though because all those tin droplets may cause short circuits.

  • @ukko1998

Most likely just: old bulb: bulb doesn't turn on new bulb: bulb turns on if with new bulb bulb wouldn't have turned on, then problem would have in ballast.

Hey Austin. Thank you very much for the awesome videos! I wanted to ask if you actually noticed a big enough difference in ride quality after changingthe sway bar? Is it worth voiding the tesla warranty? I have a 2024 model X coming in two weeks, and I am looking to change the camber and sway bar for a better quality ride and to increase longevity of my tires. Thank you!

I installed the N2itive camber bars on my early ‘21 X and they appear to be very well made. I checked toe-in and camber before and after and the car was toed out a lot from the factory so I’m not sure which was worse on this car the toe-in or the camber. Someone told me any new car should go in for alignment and that’s probably good advice. I adjusted the bars to +7MM per the N2itive help desk and that put it near perfect on camber and I had to run the toe at maximum setting to get it in spec so I expect if you run more camber you will need the adjustable toe-in kit as well. Austin EV has great videos! Wish they were closer.

Any software that requires making a whole clean OS install and disabling all your anti-virus and anti-malware protection should be a huge red flag! A bit of googling this application shows it is apparently/allegedly malware. If you insist on using it, don't install any other software, don't store any personal information, don't use this PC for connecting to bank accounts, etc and use this PC only for this application. Don't connect to a home or work network. Don't leave the computer running any longer than you have to. Other analysts allege that some of this program is actually cracked versions of commercial programs from companies like Toyota. If true this would be a copyright violation and illegal, in addition to the malware potential. So... buyer beware. It should be obvious that legitimate programs don't require you to make your computer defenseless and open to outside hacking, Trojan horses, etc.
