What people don't realize is that in the "To Whom It May Concern" Album, 9 out of the 12 songs are for and about, and for, Michael Jackson (So Lovely, was for her children, Lights Out and Nobody Noticed It were for her dad, and the rest were for MJ, who she had just left, after being with Michael for almost 10 years!!) That is why she is so angry talking and singing about him at that point, besides it taking oxygen out of her own career. The pain was all very fresh. They continued their relationship for 5 years after they divorced, and Lisa was still in love with him when she left and bitter, so she built up walls against MJ using this CD as a start! She was trying hard to keep herself from going back to him, so she kept on doing things to distance herself from him. (man, I could relate!!) She said Michael Jackson was like a drug for her, and an addiction, but MJ was the one with the real addiction to painkillers, that started when his head caught on fire in the Pepsi Commercial, and that he beat for a while with Lisa's help, but then went back to, and that caused a lot of pain in their relationship.
Great tutorial ❤
Blink 182 they are natural comedians Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge. There’s banter can go too far but that’s what makes it funny
Love her heart ,amazing Woman.love heard her dad,! Only 1 "ELVIS ",
Lisa Marie Was Such a Baddie!! & Sooo Beautiful!! likeher dad!! She knew EXACTLY how to answer !!! The interview was bout her, but David asked much bout EL! She did an Amazing Job!!! I Lvd When She Told Him "Ur Very Handsome get him off track 😆 LISA MARIE UR SOO MISSED! 😢IN ALL WAYS!!
Thanks for all the tips, public speaking isn’t easy. I can sing and play freely but talking to the crowd is just a bitch for me.
I thoroughly enjoy these sessions Crafty. You're educational, informative, fun & so much more. Admittedly at times you lost me with some of the technical jargon, but I still like to learn. You're candid in your approach. Darren in the garage shaving off something ?. Is there ANYTHING you folks won't do to bring us the best ??? 😆 Ty 🩷
That goes without saying, the song from the movie Annie: in every job that must be done there is an element of fun you find the fun and snap! The job's a game. Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in a most delightful way😊
"Are you not entertained?!"
I always got the sense that Carl and Al were told that their job was to drown out the other vocals. On "I Get Around" Mike really has to belt it out to be heard.
Nothing else than four band members all talking at the same time
Miss him. Such a brilliant song, timeless..
Bruh i've been trying to learn this but i'm searching up "rhythms" instead of time signature😭
Yooo my guy, thanks for this Tip, made things a lot clearer. 🎉
I bloody love all the memes, quotes and anecdotes. Keep it up Crafty!
The vow of silence, works! I don't want you to talk between songs! The Grateful Dead never talked between songs, it took them 20 minutes to pick the next song! GD are the biggest cult band in America! Legions of Deadheads!
Don't say anything. Never tune your instrument when on stage(if you must, do it quietly). No one likes that 'song'. You're welcome
Awesome Video!
Darren your an awesome producer man,,,,, the video looks and sounds great. Dont ever stop doing this in your studio because that place produces a special feel that we out here LOVE!! AND Crafty man, your rockin awesome, keep dancing bro, love it! And the girls,,, Stunning stuff!
✝️💖🌈👩🎤
ladies and gentlemen, i have suffered for my music, now it's your turn -- neil innes
"I didn't get a wink of sleep last night, women were bangin on my door all night long, I finally got tired unlocked the door and let them out" Works every time..
Here just to say that you are a true legend! Thank you for not only great explanation but for explaning in such a vivid and fun way! 🙏
Most of the information wasn't really wrong, but there should be more clarification. To start with, never call gain volume, like input volume. Gain is gain and volume is volume, They're different, and if you don't have a clear understanding of which is which, you can have a hard time if you run into problems. This is what you must know. Gain controls are always on the input of a component and volume controls are always on the output of a component. Only a gain control can overdrive or distort the signal. A volume control can't. It attenuates the signal and nothing more. If you have a gain related issue such as excess noise or distortion from too much, you can't fix it with a volume control. You have to alter your gain structure to fix the issue. That's where the term gain staging comes from and why you never hear the term volume staging. Using the guitar amp as an example is very good. Its the only type of amp that you want to make it distort on purpose, and that's why its such a good example. This is a bit off topic, but I think its relevant given the discussion. If you are working with digital products, you should know if your volume control(s) adjust volume in the digital or analog domain. With digital volume controls, you run into a unique problem called bit stripping. You only get the full resolution of a digital music file if all of the digital volume controls in the signal chain are set to max. I'll give an example using MP3 because there's always a bit rate associated with it and everyone is familiar with the format. The highest quality MP3 is 320kbps. In order to get the full 320, all of your digital volume controls have to be set at max. As you lower the volume the 320 keeps going down the more you lower it. So, if you have a mix of digital and analog volume controls, set the digital ones to the max, if possible, and use the analog controls to adjust volume. But if you have to make a choice between too much gain or too much bit stripping, gain is still more important. Also, the best way to mitigate the effects of bit stripping is to go with the highest resolution format possible. Bit stripping will be much more apparent with a format like MP3. Standard CD quality (16/44) is much better, and anything high res, the effect is even less. (24/192).
😢love the Gibson, loved the Artists more, play the Artists in a jam and nobody cares as long as you enjoy. It's not the axe your playing, it's the way you play it.
The rest of the song is NOT is 4/4
Mi canción favorita de Robert Palmer, no tuvo mucha rotación en radios pero la primera vez que la escuché quedé encantado,
thanks for those vids, they bring me back to my 16' to 25' when I was in a band, I refind all the little details, ambiances that I loved so much, chalenges, directives and subtility that makes a cool song a "woaw" song. they're the perfect complement for the singit live vids.
Hey Crafty much appreciation 4 these clips. I learned that I don't know MUSIC as well as I thought. The process of 'constructing' a song with ALL its parts is FAR more involved. TY 4 answering questions that MANY of us would have. Also seeing a more 'serious' side of YOU was so fitting 4 such a Beauty of a song. The glasses were u all the way, in character. . . The slide guitar @ all the right moments from TZAN. It was intoxicatingly beautiful ❤
If the band Im playing has a gaff kf sorts, I tend to announce as a bit of humor to the audience by saying...dont try this at home folks, we are professionals!
💞👌👍✌
THE CLAW! XD
Always learn something from these "Behind the sound" insights - indeed I don't think I listen to songs the same way nowadays - I have a deeper appreciation for the amazing detail, planning and talent that goes in to the few minutes of excellence we see each and every week - There's nothing "average" about anything Darren and the singitlive crew create
Thanks for your generosity in sharing the background in making this video. As a bedroom Musso I find it fascinating, and it shows just how talented you guys are. The magic only happens if you work at it. THANKS GUYS.
I love seeing your Behind the Sounds videos! It's amazing to me how much actually goes into the production of one song! And, the Glasses were a Great touch! Darren was right he wouldn't have looked natural wearing them, but with your style and personallity it really was a good touch to bring in energy and interest into the performance! Thanks!
Darren is no weak link!
Hi Crafty, another great "behind the sound" video. The more times you are on SIL the better it is for us because we get two for the price of one. Lol.
Love these videos. I like the fact that you understand that the way acoustic fits into these mixes involves playing just a few strings, not banging across all 6 like a sidewalk busker.
I thought you guys did an amazing job on this. The Bass player nailed Dee Murray's bass part and I found your way of mixing the piano very interesting. I use AKG 414 XL 's on my piano and it does not sound as good as Darren's set up.
a genius class. the likes I have never heard in my entire musical life . (75 years old) DO A MASTER CLASS SERIES PLEASE !!!!!!
My first visit to a Behind the Sound video. Nice job! While not trained in music (at all... I do it all by ear), I'm happy to say that what Darren was saying about Mario's approach is something I noticed as the song progressed. Can't say enough about the talent of this group. Must be a great feeling to be part of something like this. Cheers!
Crafty, I'm glad "it's gonna be a long long time" before you stop making these videos! You've put together a nice catalog of them, all with great interviews and editing. Thanks Darren for indulging us in so many details. Sing it Live really elevated this song. Beautiful guitar sounds and outstanding vocals all around! Darren: could you sing 'Dirty Work' by Steely Dan? You'd crush it. (It was sung by David Palmer instead of Donald.) And of course, 'Do it Again' which is almost hypnotic. More Steely please!!! 🤩
Loved it, great version again 👍
Thanks, Crafty! Love the performance and the BTS. God bless from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Darren's comment about the Eagles blocking videos makes me wonder if SIL makes any $ doing this. I assume all the videos get claimed and take the ad revenue.
you’re an absolute legend young man ☝️ stay cool buddy
This is a mount rushmore gig!
A bossy musician, I think is a part of another music group.
I play with various bands, and far prefer those that don't have a control freak calling the shots!
Love the song. As always a wonderful performance by everyone. Could listen to Darren explaining the process for hours, so thanks for doing this BTS Crafty. Personally I enjoy all of Eltons early work but that's my age I guess. Would love to hear your take on Tiny Dancer for example. Keep up the good work!
Definitely more Elton John! Don't go breaking my heart Darren (with Nikki) would be a good choice. Darren does a great Elton John and Nikki with her awesome vocals and bright smile would make an ideal Kiki Dee just an opinion
Beat me to it!! Nice!!
@@paulguthrie4857 The more voices the merrier! After that Rocket Man performance by Darren I'm game for more..
Great job Crafty Wacky Glasses, thanks Darren great insights into your processes. You are all Super Stars!
