LDFR Sim Racing

LDFR Sim Racing

Hey there, welcome! I produce weekly Sim Racing videos, mainly on iRacing.

I'm Lorenzo, a sim racing content creator on KZread and Twitch. My main focus is to build a wonderful sim racing community centered around fun and positivity.

I'm dedicated to creating sim racing content for a couple of reasons: firstly, I want to keep you thoroughly entertained and informed. Secondly, I hope to spark interest in sim racing among more people, as it's a fantastic hobby that could use some more love. The more sim racers we have, the better the hobby will thrive.

Every little bit of help through support and donations is gratefully received and highly appreciated, as it allows me to do more with the content!

Thank you so much for being part of this journey!

    Hi..very new in sim racing...wonder how you toggle between this apps...i tried but when sim hub is open the racing game is automatically minimised. But when running the the racing games can't move cursor to sim hub from the game itself. Running triple monitor setup...tried alt+tab but only 1 i can open at one time.

    Nice to see you making content 🎉🎉🎉 About the incident. It's a racing incident, but you posted yourself in the position with braking too early/hard in the previous corner so he could overtake you on the outside

    Racing incident. But the guy on the outside should not turned inn that much. You are having the innerline, he is passing you. Gravity will pull you outwards. Thats why the guy on the outside should stayed left. So he is to blame, but still racing incident. Nothing to report. In my opinion.

    Ah tough one to take at the end - some brilliant action previously. I think I agree it is a racing incident - you guys were racing really hard and it’s always a risk when running with two other cars close by. He could have given you more room for sure. But equally I guess you could have held tighter. Onwards to the next one!

  • @TheTrianim

    I agree with Ben, overall. But he was playing a dangerous game, cutting the line so close, considering how easily it could have ended his race, as well. Yes, it's true, you could have taken that corner even tighter to play it safe, as well. This latter point I learned from that very same Ben I mentioned earlier. 😀 😉

    Headphones usage is almost a requirement for this moderate bass shaker setup like used in his sim rig bass shakers guide, at least above the 30% overall volume level I would say. But once you do have your headphones on the noise is unnoticeable (imperceivable) to the driver through. The surrounding house mates nearby your rig though (especially your wife!) will probably complain once you go above the 30% overall volume level. Driving in your rig I can imagine won't be that pleasant for the noises that 2 x BST-1 transducers will eminate, if you use external speakers that are at low to moderate volumes, and most likely your housemates won't like the noises coming from your rig and will tell you so.

  • @jonferraez

    I had great results using this mount instructions guide video on using the VESA mount for the rear BST-1, attached under the Sim Labs GT1-Evo (2020 version) extrusion that the seat is attached to, and the front BST-1 direct mounted to the pedal tray underside (which has built in felt type material on the entire surface to help with direct mount to metal). My rear with VESA plate under the seat vibrations are at least twice as strong as the front are under the GT1-Evo 2020 pedal tray. The custom channels mapping in Simhub is set to 100% for both front and rear, and I'm hiding his custom channels profile imported. My GT1-Evo is the newer revised 2020 version that is 500mm total width overall, up from 480mm I believe, and has a beefier pedal tray (that does appear to have different screw hole locations than the original GT1-EVO pedal plate as well it seems). This can be made to work in the custom channels section of Simhub, since there you can define the front and the rear overall channel volume, like to set the rear to be 60% overall volume slider versus 100% on the front (to compensate for that front versus rear strength difference). My amp is similar to the one mentioned in the guide, a Douk Audio (Tone model), and is the same wattage 50 x 2 channels, and the front and rear BST-1's are connected to that single DAC amp, that acts as a sound card and amp. The result is quite good! I also had tried to mount my BST-1 directly to the back of my seat but it is pretty hefty and eventually the tape I was using list its strength, and it wasn't secure which doesn't help at all. The VESA plate mount solution is great, and is very solid, but for me I noticed about 30 mins trying to attach the same exact dimensions plate to the GT1-EVO 2020 version, that it wasn't going to be able to screw in on both sides. I needed to shorten the width distance for the extrusion pieces that run under the seat for it to be able to attach the VESA plate to both sides, from how I originally had the two extrusion pieces mounted. Once the two pieces were moved closer together by about 2" on both sides of the rig (that was the narrowest that my seat rails could support to be able to mount the seat to the excursions in fact) the plate fit fine, but I should have removed the seat and trying to screw it in upside down was a chore, to get it in the t-nuts. I also hadn't realized the BST-1 could mount directly under the pedal plate in the center even, Overall very happy with his GT1-EVO bass shaker guide method! Thank you! Note: I had very good luck with "4 Pack of Anti Vibration Pads 4" x 4" x 7/8" Rubber/Cork Vibration isolation pads" that can be had on most big online stores, placed under the standard rubber feet; if you don't want to go with the method he used near the end of this video, for the two products he used. The rubber and cork pads work really well and are about $15 USD for 4.

    Great video! I took notes and will definitely be trying this out. I do have a question about the "ghost racing". I feel like AI racing might be better than this because the AI will react to you like a person would if you were in a real race. When you ghost race, isn't it true that the situations are not always realistic, because the other drivers are not behaving as if you are racing with them? Hope that question makes sense.

  • @LDFR
    @LDFR13 күн бұрын

    Thank you! Regarding your question, I think that in general ghost racing is more useful to compare your pace to other drivers, and also to see where the main "pain points" are on track, i.e. where people tend to crash and where you tend to have pile-ups. Figuring out that stuff in a ghost race will prepare you better for the real thing :) But yeah it's not the best option for practicing racecraft, which is what you are describing.

    FFB Wheel should be an S. Switching to DD from good belt driven wheel - is at B. Switching to solid cockpit from good well-setup table and racing style chair - is an C, but when you start adding stuff like buttkickers and othe haptics its an B. Getting haptics, virbomotors or basshakers - is an B, but if you set it up correctly, removing unnecessary things - it can be an A. Good pedals is an A, but if you tune it for your liking and get better quality pedals - it can be closer to S. Gloves, Shoes is an solid C, but its a preference things. Also adding small fans that blow air on you is solid C. Going from screen to low tier VR is an A. Going from single screen to tripple is also an A. But going from single to high tier VR with wide FOV, OLED displays, low latency is an S. No tripple can beat depth of view in vr, just not happening. D tier is only stuff like some small mods and accessories.

    Hah the entire first 4 tips i was saying loose hands, loose hands. And then tip 5 wad relax hands anf you mentioned suelio, i was right, keep the best for last. I swapped to the lmp3 last week after months of gt racing so its a huge change and very difficult to find pace. Relaxing the hands on entry really does make a biiiig difference and for me is the sole reason of spinning on entry. The ffb catches the car before you even feel whats going on so let it do its thing. Good fun tho

    Sore really helpfull tipps, exept for the "disable car damage" part, i rather take it more careful. Creating a habit that it's ok to crash the car is a really bad thing in my opinion.

  • @LDFR
    @LDFR13 күн бұрын

    I completely understand that for realism and for the experience it may not be the most desirable option. However, I still find that disabling car damage is absolutely key when limit testing. When I test the limits of grip of a car, I tend to crash a lot. If I had to reset the car each time, practice would take waaaaay longer.

    Excellent video, to explain something that’s a bit confusing for getting started with haptics. And making sure you don’t have both LFE and Simhub running the same effects at the same time and making things sloppy. I’ve mounted a Dayton TT25 on each of gas and brake pedals. One BST-1 bolted to the rig near the back. And I’ve got two TT25 left over that I’ll probably stick in the seat itself. Using a Nobo 2x50w in front and a 2x100w for the rear and seat ones. And will be using some of your tips to fine tune. Thanks.

    I just started iRacing one week ago, during the Season 2 Week 13 break. Competing in the MX-5 Cup, I've been making it my goal to learn the track as it switches every 24 hours. A lot of the circuits I've never even heard of before, save Oulton and VIR. On Day 7 now, Charlotte Roval being the final course and it is absolutely murdering me. Going to use your advice and try and keep pushing through because I'm in the top 500 for the series with a 3.4SR, and I want to get my C-class Fast Track Promotion before the start of Season 3. It being Charlotte gives me some bad ju-ju, so I'm hoping these races don't go sideways.
