i'm with you. you need to respect the wrestlers. Sportsmanship is missing in the world. It's everywhere. Egocentrism has been adopted as a virtue - even at State College. Remember when celebration after collegiate touchdown was a penalty??

I was totally bummed when Nick Lee lost to Austin Gomez and didn't qualify the weight for the Olympics, but in hindsight I think it worked out the best for Zain because having him have to go through the Last Chance is a great prep for the Olympics. It gave Zain an opportunity to compete is some very high level matches at 65kg.

  • @craigwhitaker6397

Same here. I think Lee would beat Gomez in a rubber match. I don't think Gomez is going to survive a match with Zain.

@craigwhitaker6397 yea I like Zains chances now to win/medal at the Olympics. I was concerned about the weight cut, but after his performance at Last Chance clearly he's ready and in the conversation for winning gold.

Basch….Great job lining this up. Good Stuff. Has anyone noticed with this hire, no major hoopla, no wonderment as to salaries by everyone, no animosity within their own, everyone seems humble and willing to work together. If you don’t think CHEMISTRY is part of the secret sauce to winning, you’d be wrong. This was a great hire by Penn State, and I hope Penn State never considers DT for any position ever down the road.

one thing I'm learning from the past couple of months of wrestling news: Carter Starocci, Aaron Brooks, and Bo Nickal are some haters. I'm huge fans of all 3, but the amount of undue disrespect towards legends like David Taylor and Jordan Burroughs from these 3 is astounding

I'd heard he talked some smack, but I had no idea it was to this level. I don't believe god decides who wins wrestling matches and I definitely don't believe god helps you beat someone so that they will believe in the god you believe in. If that were the case, Brooks very well may return from Paris as a Muslim.

Fantastic interview. I am a little late to watching this after all the talk it generated. This man gets attacked more for using his podium to bring people to the Lord than he would if he decided to wrestle in the women's bracket at the Olympics.

So what happens when guys decide to enter the transfer portal and they don’t get picked up by another University or College? I don’t hear anyone talking about that. Do they then stay at the University they were trying to leave and then what the heck does that look like??? If they were even on scholarship does that University still have to honor it after they decide to enter it? Or can they just say “ok, you want out, so you’re out” then go out and recruit someone else for that weight and give them that scholarship?? Lots of questions I know, but I don’t hear anyone talking about it and if they did then I missed it.

If the Iranian beats Aaron, will that be a sign that Jesus favors followers of Mohammad? Aaron will one day get old and be replaced by a younger man. If that person is not a follower of Jesus, what will that mean? Father Time is undefeated. Jesus is not.

This is utterly disgusting and appalling: Aaron Brooks digging into David Taylor's rectum-that deep-is shocking and reprehensible. I am extremely disappointed and appalled by the recent match where Brooks resorted to such highly questionable and illegal tactics, specifically "oil checking." This act, which involves invasive and deeply inappropriate contact where one defecates, is not just illegal in the sport of wrestling but also a gross violation of the principles upon which sportsmanship is built. This tactic-where one wrestler forcibly invades the personal and private space of another, akin to inserting a panther paw into the opponent's singlet to disrupt their core muscle stability and concentration-is deeply disturbing. It's not just about the unfair advantage it momentarily provides by distracting or disabling the opponent; it's akin to the methods used to stop an aggressive animal. This behavior might happen accidentally in the heat of the moment, but the deliberate and deep invasion by Brooks with more than just one finger is a predatory act that degrades the sport's integrity and shows outright disrespect to fellow athletes. Actions like these not only pose a risk of physical harm but also tarnish the reputation of the sport. They send a dangerous message that could influence young, impressionable athletes, potentially putting our children at risk. This is not just a breach of sporting conduct; it's behavior that borders on the sexual violation of an opponent, something we should all stand against to protect our children and the sanctity of sports. Athletes, coaches, and officials must all hold themselves and each other to the highest standards to ensure that wrestling remains a respected and fair competitive sport. The governing bodies of wrestling must take stringent measures against such misconduct. There must be a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated, with appropriate penalties applied to discourage future occurrences. Furthermore, this incident should lead to broader discussions about sportsmanship, the enforcement of rules, and the ethical training of athletes to foster an environment where fair play is at the forefront. This sport is about more than just winning. It's about how you play the game, how you respect your opponent, and how you honor the tradition of wrestling. Let's not allow the pursuit of victory to degrade the nobility of this great sport. We must demand better from our athletes and from the institutions that govern our sports.

I’m all for having your own religious beliefs and am a Christian myself. But the context here is a little much. Like David is supposed to become more of a Christian because he saw Aaron “walking on water.” I like Aaron and am happy for his journey but he’s going a bit too far. Just my opinion. Also, it’s competitive in the room at this level. Just what it is, people want an edge. Obviously he is talking about how Jimmy ran the room. I’d like to understand more regarding this.

The fact that Aaron and other athletes truly believe that the Lord is picking them in this athletic event is the most narcissistic belief system I have ever heard. You think God almighty honestly cares about a wrestling match? You were an underdog and pulled it off. Very impressive but not an act of god. Jeez.
