Él abusó de una criada y contribuyó a destrozar su vida. Quizá debería haber escrito una ópera con esa sórdida historia autobiográfica.

The conductor didn't like her in rehearsals because she took too many liberties with the tempi and he wanted a substitute brought in. Ela não pede proteção, na verdade está nessa hora alheia ao terrível drama que se desenrola. A prece é freqüentemente interpretada em tom de aflição, mas não foi a intenção do incomparável autor da música, que adivinhou perfeitamente os sentimentos da personagem.
