    Other counterspells to consider that I didn't see covered in this video: Wash Away - Basically 1 mana to counter any commander, but there are a surprising number of things that cast from a place not from the hand (impulse draw for example, flashback, etc.). Spell Pierce - probably more of a CEDH card where mana curves are tighter. Glen Elendra Archmage - A bit mana intensive but it is 2 negates at baseline, and if you have synergies with +1/+1 counters, or flicker/reanimation, or something to remove the -1/-1 counters, you can do it over and over again. Mystic snake - similar to Glen Elendra archmage; mana intensive, but pair with instant speed flicker or something and it can be pretty cute. Foil - For very low budget. The alt cost is pretty steep (island + another card), but I think it's under $1. Counterflux - Mana intensive, but for decks that can't or don't run a lot of counters, this helps win counter wars.

    I like Wash Away a lot to counter commanders and some other things. Spell pierce is very good!!!! Glen Elendra Archmage and mystic snake seem really good with flickering effects.

    Surveil lands always etb tapped, theres a typo on the first bullet in the C tier. I think theyre better than c tier tho, being fetchable + surveil is huge

  • @BaileeCakesMTG
    @BaileeCakesMTG2 ай бұрын

    after playing them more, I agree. They really work well as card filtering pieces in formats with fetches. I like them with bounce lands so you can get more than one surveils. I think as one offs in modern or legacy decks they are great. I wouldn't play too many in a commander deck because they do always enter tapped (unless you have amulet or spelunking)

    I think you're way off about Pathways. They're very high B tiers for me. Even if you have to choose a color, they're still untap lands and tap for whatever you need at the time. For them to ever shoot you in the foot, your deck has to have some crazy color requirements

  • @BaileeCakesMTG
    @BaileeCakesMTG4 ай бұрын

    I don't like them because they don't fix your mana and there is usually better options for two color decks

  • @CSDragon
    @CSDragon4 ай бұрын

    @@BaileeCakesMTG I disagree, let's look at the worst case scenario, your opening hand contains 1 basic forest and 2 GB pathways, You can have access to either G or B on turn 1. You won't need access to both. And you can have GG, GB or BB on turn 2. Unless your deck has a standard play pattern of T1 Thoughtseize into T2 Leaf-Crowned Visionary, your mana is perfect. Replacing pathways with a pain land, fast land or slow land each offer extremely marginal improvement with real downsides. And in situations where you do need 3 different pips by turn 2, you would run them instead because your mana requirements are so strict.

  • @savinobalducci6148
    @savinobalducci61484 ай бұрын

    it's not like you didn't said it but i wanna reiterate that bounce land are good! they always draws you a card but with MDFC's and Channel Lands they actually draw you a spell! also, the Signet Lands can make your powerstones tap for actual usable mana, niche, but interesting

    I just built my Gishath deck and it’s become my favorite practically overnight. In your list I noticed a few all stars that didn’t show up and a few anti-synergies (perhaps it’s YT comment bait idk). But in the interest of helping decks play smooth let me offer an insight that Marauding Raptor isn’t a may ability, so it’ll kill any 2 or less toughness creatures you play, including the Dino tokens from Bonehoard Dracosaur. And speaking of Bonehoard Dracosaur will put big Dinos into exile instead of your hand for Ghalta’s ability or any other hand dumping effect.

  • @BaileeCakesMTG
    @BaileeCakesMTG5 ай бұрын

    That is a bit of a non-synergy but I think that the two cards are strong enough to play that the downsides can be overlooked

    As a cEDH player it's quite interesting to see you react to bog standard plays of the format with question marks. using rituals for your rocks is pretty normal since it gives you a permanent mana advantage especially when your commanders will draw you a bunch of cards. remora is outside of winning one of the best turn one plays. tymna/kraum is the best deck in the format bcs it can adapt so easily to every kind of pod. I have played games were one of the decks is a more casual deck and its usually pretty frustrating for the other players. cEDH lives off of all decks being able to contribute on the stack in some way and one or two players not being able to do that can suck. That being said most midrange or stax cEDH decks lose to big stompy bois, but if you were against a single turbo deck they would just turn 1 win against regular commander decks since there is basically no chance of their win attempt being stopped.
