Such easy charm. I have no idea why Hollywood didn't scoop him up and make him a huge film star. He could have made millions doing ads, like for Gillette. I know that wasn't his thing, but it makes me sad that he left the industry after LIS.

A mystery to me why Hollywood wasted the huge talent and good looks of this great actor. Far better than Errol Flynn or anyone else. He deserved far better opportunities than he got.

People might have missed or forgotten, what I believe was his first TV 'screen test' before the ',Zorro' days. It was a short, multi-episode series in a bit part opposite Broderick Crawford in 'Highway Patrol' as a rookie officer in 1955-56. That "safe as you bet" smile and chuckle at the conclusion of one episode was a real winner. Sadly, he was written out of the series by being killed in a standoff with the bad guys in the line if duty. His 'wife' on the show was only mildly shaken by his death, but then we're talking about a TV show that was a veritable 'clearinghouse' for many an actor and an😮😢actress, who later became stage and screen stars on their own merits. Many were beginning with bit parts on that show. From Clint Eastwood, to Stuart Whitman, and I believe Cloris Leachman to Beverly Garland, there were a bunch of them filtering their ways to stardom in the 'Highway Patrol' series of early television.

A 4REAL class act if you ask me. Such elegance, class, and a handsome man among men. He had a personality, that emanated a humanness, even innocence of a sort rarely seen in today's world generally. A cool cat for those times. No axes to grind, a no lowlife motivations seemingly.

Williams biggest problem is he had to deal with one of the most batshit crazy producers who never really knew what he wanted his shows to be: camp or serious. So one off the rails episode followed by a sort of serious one. He had to be looking at Shatner in Star Trek and think: lucky bastard.😮😮😮

I have a question about the smoking. Since John Robinson never smoked, I have to think this part of the test, was seeing how nervous Guy was, or how he could handle a prop ? Does anyone know why they would ask him to light up a cigarette in the middle of a screen test? And thanks for posting this! It’s fascinating!

Moses stopped coming in 2004. Probably passed. Also believed Moses was a female who lost her eggs/brood and still had mothering instincts with Cassie. Ann passed away in 2006; age77. Wally passed in 2018 shy of his 99th birthday. Cassie passed in 2014 at age 15. In 2011 Lisa Fleming wrote "Cat and Crow: an amazing friendship" for children with photos, newspaper clippings, illustations. If you google cat and crow, Cassie and Moses quite a few articles.
