You supposed to Drill a small 1/4" hole in your mold & put a 1/2" circle sticker over it on the inside so gel-coat, chop, or resin doesn't clog the hole. When your parts done you put the air nozzle in the hole on the outside & one quick blast of air will pop the part out.
@dirtyaznstyle41567 ай бұрын
How do you keep the sticker from becoming saturated with resin? How thick is the material your molds are made of? I’m guessing pretty thick because it’s deep enough to seal a 1/4” air nozzle in it and not break if your mold release method didn’t quite work.
@skin-kneedesignsskd2697 ай бұрын
@@dirtyaznstyle4156 @dirtyaznstyle4156 Hi Dirty, say the mold is made and the hole is drilled already. I put the sticker on the inside of the mold over the hole and start making the part. The sticker gets covered with the 1st coat of gel-coat. The chop and resin never touch the sticker or drip in the hole. The air nozzle has a pin hole with high pressure when the compressors opened up. One blast will separate the part from the mold. After I pop a part, I peal the sticker off the part with my fingernail & swipe that spot with bondo. When I'm done sanding a part down, I use the same air nozzle to blow the dust off the part. It's not the kind of nozzle to pump up a tire on a car. Molds range from 3/8" to 1'+ thick depending on what I'm making. "Small parts" drill the hole in the middle of the mold. If it's something big like a camper top, drill the hole where you can get to it like on the cab side where the window goes. In production using a wedge on a mold that gets used many times will damage the integrity of the gel-coat on the mold. I've done this on every mold I've made for 27+ years now, it works every time dude. Try it.
@dirtyaznstyle41567 ай бұрын
@@skin-kneedesignsskd269 I would have thought the gel coat would wet the sticker. I was thinking of redoing the gel coat on a truck topper and it seemed like gel coat was waterproof polyester resin. Most of the stuff I make is small like hatches or covers for things like fuse boxes and amp racks, speaker boxes, fuse holders even, fish boxes on a boat… that or repairs. Would love some of the tools you have in a production setting!

@@dirtyaznstyle4156 That's cool & it's fun making a little this and that! I was thinking about making a wide body kit for my 350z and was scrolling to see what's been done. I'm wanting to design something different from everything that's out there but something badazz. As far as production, everything is in bulk. A little bit more maintenance keeping the equipment tuned, cleaned, and ready to go like the gel-coat gun, chop gun, & all the compressors, filters. When it's time to rock tho, the chop gun screams & gets the part done in a minute. Also another thing I noticed in all the videos I watched is everybody waits for the part to completely cure before they cut it & by then you HAVE to use an angle grinder with a cut-off disk. There's a sweet spot when it first starts to harden up, I can feel a lil' heat from the resin setting up. That's when you want to trim your part. You can get a razor knife & slice all the excess chop off perfectly while it's in the mold. It's like cutting through a sheet of paper it's so easy. Like I literally just trace the edge of the mold with a razor knife before it cures. When it does cure, there's no trimming, cutting, grinding, dust storms, nothing. I pop the part out of the mold, it's done. I can start my bondo and sanding, my prep work.

How do you keep the sticker from becoming saturated with resin? How thick is the material your molds are made of? I’m guessing pretty thick because it’s deep enough to seal a 1/4” air nozzle in it and not break if your mold release method didn’t quite work.
Try it.
That’s an awesome tip! Thank you! What is chop and gel coat though?
how much to do my g8 where do i dm u ?

does the fender liners fit perfectly after the new bumper installed?
They fit pretty good. Since they are a plastic material, you're capable of heating up areas and slightly molding them to contours of the car. It could've been done on this civic, but Gabe didn't get a chance to get to it.
@@BeardedPandaProductions o ok cause I have an 08 Civic sedan I was just curious if the fender linersfit like a glove. So the installation was a simple plug in no cutting or nothing lol ?
@Ejr82u lol. Nah bro. Any slammed car with flares or widebody kit definitely needs to be cut. You have to account for the width of the rim. If you don't cut, you can't be slammed or have wide wheels. I have the video on my KZread page. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnVlu9KxkciTn8o.htmlsi=0eqML-EQRXU1-g5T
@@BeardedPandaProductions ah ok I dunno much about cars my sedan is just basic with no kits or nothing anyway I can send u a pic?
@Ejr82u for sure man. I'd like to see and help you out on your ride. Hit me up on Instagram @bpf_jason
Where did you find the roll of carbon? I can’t find anything wider then 50”
Compositeenvisions.com sells 60" rolls.
Looks GREAT!!! What carbon fiber overlay do you use?
Thanks man. I prefer the higher end carbon fiber, it's by a company called Hexcel and the edition I use is their PrimeTex Carbon Fiber. They produce aerospace and high-end auto manufacturers used on the BMW M6 roof, etc. Compositeenvisions.com carries it.
Nice intro!
Thanks man. 🤙🏼
I got the same skirt but it didn’t fit the evo x. The back part that it comes up it’s narrower on the evo. Did you fit it over the stock lancer side skirts? I even removed my evo side skirts but I’d have to make a lot of brackets to fit it onto the car body.
I removed the stock skirts. Utilized the stock mounting points in the wheel well. If I remember correctly, I added one extra screw for more stability. 3 brackets on the bottom to reassure strength during drive time. Front, mid, and rear.
All he did was essentially give this dude a new carbon hood, it’s not a repair video tbh it’s a how to make a carbon hood at this point it would’ve been cooler and got more traction honestly if you took the time to repair all the cracks in the hood, I recently watched your 3 part series and it was interesting up until the point where you didn’t repair the carbon you replaced it
I initially was planning on and quoted for a repair only. Chunks of carbon fiber started to break away, so I had no choice but to reskin it since I only put out high-end products. In all honesty, a repair would've been far cheaper and quicker for me, and I actually took a big financial hit for this hood.
When I come across more damaged items, I'll make sure to get into crack and stressed repair details. Thanks for watching and the feedback on expectancy.
where did you get ur body kit ?!
I designed and produced it. Used to be an item up for grabs. We recently shut down the tC department, but it's still available as a specialty ordered item.
They have 4 in holes in the b piller just below the seat belt
Thanks man. I'm going to check it out. Can't go wrong with more speakers.
Hey, I’m interested in your wide widebody kit for my tc! I was wondering if you still make them??
We have our tC department permanently closed, but I can always make a custom order if need be. Reach out on IG @bpf_jason
