This is why we have been afraid to even attempt international shipping as we sell very delicate and antique glass items. We are nervous enough with local selling; cannot imagine our precious pieces going overseas.

I hear that! I've received so many shipments damaged by UPS, and it is truly depressing. And they make the insurance claims process ridiculous. Right now I only ship items that aren't overly delicate. I didn't even offer international shipping on my main items, because the shipping cost more than the item. Until a customer requested it. Such a compliment for my humble little creations. 😁 In my own "treasure hunting" I've found that antiques seem to be more plentiful (and cheaper) in Europe anyway. So you probably aren't losing much there. Packing tips that I've learned with delicate items - Packing peanuts really do a great job. I only use them to surround a well bubble wrapped item, and FILL the box with them so nothing moves. The thing that personally drives me nuts about them is the static cling (and inevitable mess because of it). Quick solution - dryer sheets. I even include a dryer sheet inside a thank you card, explaining why I did. 😉 As for the bubble wrap, I've sometimes wondered if I've damaged delicate items before, just trying to get them out of the bubble wrap. Some people really overdo it with the packing tape. The tape doesn't provide that much more protection anyway. While packing tape looks better, I started using painter's tape instead. So much easier to unpack. I'm not sure what happened at UPS, but in my experience, they're just not as good as they used to be. Even when I've paid extra to have them pack it for me. I've had no damaged shipments from the Post Office. And only one with Fedex, which was more about how the seller had packed the items anyway. I hope you found something here that is helpful. Smh! I am in a shitshow with a Ebay International shipment to the UK which ebay destroyed my customers art sculpture and they charged me for the refund, can't get anyone competent on the line.. filed a case with the BBB. I'm not letting this go!

They charged YOU??? After my issues, I went back and read up on their International Shipping, and the only benefit I could see was that they were supposed to cover things like that. You don't have to scroll down far on this page to read: "You’re protected Lost or damaged items If your item is claimed as lost or damaged during international transit, you won’t be at fault." www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/ebay-international-shipping

P.S. The last time I had an issue with Ebay, I actually did resolve my problem. Be prepared that it probably won't be quick tho'. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on "Contact us". It starts with automated assistance. But if you keep typing in things it doesn't understand, or the word "agent", you will eventually get a live agent. I hope that helps. Their selling of Ebay international is that "They handle all damaged, missing, destroyed and bad feedback..." in your favour. Why did they charge you for the refund? That is against their own policy.
