Steve Harris was on the top Bass list from 82-88, but Nikki was winning everything which is a farce, but of the era.

Guess it's never clicked just how BIG hair metal was back them. Pun intended (obviously I knew Possessed and Exodus wouldn't be anywhere in this magazine lol) that is funny how 2 songs sold that Crue album. Wild times for rock and metal.

I gotta disagree on most, but agree on some. And some of these are difficult to choose, particularly with the first few albums. For me, the list would go something like this: Love Them From KISS All The Way She Great Expectations See You In Your Dreams Then She Kissed Me X-Ray Eyes Torpedo Girl Odyssey (tied with Just A Boy) Killer (this one is hard to pick) All Hell’s Breakin Loose Murder In High Heels Uh All Night Bang Bang You Read My Body Spit I Walk Alone We Are One (tied with I Finally Found My Way) Hot And Cold Freak

I also saw Motley Crue during the 1985 Theater Of Pain tour. Here on the west coast the opening act was Autograph (Turn Up The Radio) I also missed the Shout Of The Devil tour in 1984 b/c my parents thought i was too young. Wish i had gone b/c Motley Crue opened for Ozzy Osbourne on the Bark At The Moon tour. uggh !

Vince Neil won best singer in all these metal magazines from 85 -87, Nikki Sixx best bassist also a lot. You can't argue with teenage girls

Would have been a bit different, if it was a UK magazine instead of a US. In the guitarist section if it was a UK magazine, you would have had Gary Moore and Michael Schenker. Surprised in the Circus poll there is no mention of Queensryche. Geoff Tate should have been in male vocalist.

Saw Yngwie with AC/DC on the Fly On The Wall tour. He went into an unaccompanied solo so I went to take a leak (not a fan). Decided while out there to buy a shirt. Came back to my seat and he was STILL SOLOING. Insufferable.

This is awesome, I use to get every issue at a newsstand in our mall in Waterbury, Connecticut. All of these albums were great except for the Motley and Bon Jovi releases. I may have lost interest in Dio’s Sacred Heart album at this point, still listening to the first two. I agree Y&T was killer on the tour at this time. Right on with everything you are saying.

Invasion of Your Privacy on vinyl is one of those records that sounds beyond the cassette or CD. It's like on a different level kinda like an RL Led Zep II. I don't know what they did to make it sound, production wise, so good. It's a go to record for me to show how records sound better than CD. You hear every instrument and they all sound good. I was really surprised by that.

27:52 Nicko also suffered a stroke in January 2023 that paralyzed his right side. With rehab he's been able to get back to a level where he can tour, but by his own admission his drumming is not at the level it used to be (being 72 y.o. doesn't help either), and Maiden has adjusted their song choices and tempos to assist him.

Just a little house keeping in regards to some of the points made in this fascinating video/recollection. 1) Nicko's appearance on the Sooty Show was broadcasted in early '88. Since then there's a Sooty glove puppet placed on the bass drum. 2) Rick Allen had lost his arm before '84 came to close, and Leppard were still working on Hysteria, making their inclusion baffling. 3) Ozzy reunited with Sabbath for Live Aid, hence come back 4) Lita Ford seemed to dominate the best female artist for years and well into the 90's. 5) Vince Neil was never a singer; entertainer but never a singer. Look forward to the next video 🤟🏻

Hi Matt, just wondering, after watching this video, whether AI has a place in new music production, especially 'Heavy Metal' type tracks. I saw you wearing a 'Venom' T-Shirt in a previous video and thought to myself..." Yes, Matt is an 'OK' guy...". Right, so on with my comment. Great new music is always something that someone like you, and me, and the reader of this comment wants? Obviously, or we would all be wearing old T-Shirts from the 1980's, or there about...sorry Matt... ;) But how about if I helped make that new music myself (?), got some tunes out of it that 'I' liked and want to share them...give them some air, if you will? Readers and Matt, the part of your brain that deals with 'musical appreciation' is a finely sharpened tool, with which you can tell a good from a bad one, in a very short time. Matt, this is personal, but please let me share a link to the music that I have made by using AI, and by doing so give others the chance to enjoy doing the same as I have done. I can post a link in a response to the music that I have made AI make... Does that make sense? Have a great day Matt, I'm now Sub'ed and will await a response. I MOD DayZ servers, if your interested in what I do apart from AI... :) GG...

Your list of pics is very different....very very different from my own. And I've listened to these albums for a long time...but when we're talking the elder...I've never heard anyone say they like Mr. Blackwell. It might be one of the worst Genes songs ever. At least "Just a Boy" fits with the over arching theme of the album. Craziness. I'm afraid to watch further. If you say something bad about "Good Girl Gone Bad" I might have to go into a rage. lol.

No idea if I can narrow it down to a list like this but I will say Finalé is my favorite Anthrax song probably. Love State of Euphoria a ton. N.F.L. Deathrider, Caught in a Mosh, Devil You Know are all favorites as well. Always happy to see Anthrax getting the love they deserve.

Fave song? "Gung Ho"! Saw it first on the Metal Hammer Roadshow video (also featuring Agent Steel and Overkill) and it totally blew my young mind. I don´t "get" State of Euphoria either so I sold my OG vinyl to Metal Mickey...

I'm just starting out, I have about 7 records rn. I've found some cool stuff, I've found a couple stores that sold great records, even S.O.D.'s Speak English or Die, (though unfortunately I bout some other stuff instead) but recently I think I got a great find. I went to a store in Orange County, though it was all miscellaneous and hard to find anything at all. So I went up and asked if there was any metal, and the dude behind the desk pulls out a collection of metal vinyls. He told me some guy sold his brother's old record collection, and it was pretty cool. Scorpions, Grim Reaper, Grave Digger, Venom, Kroakus, Van Halen, more my shit. Then, I go back a few records and find: Exciter: Heavy Metal Maniac, and Exodus: Bonded by Blood. I bought the Exciter album, went back the next day, sorted through the albums again, cause there were more Exciter records. I decided to buy Van Halen I cause I didn't own one, and got the Exodus album. I contemplated buying some more, records, but I decided to save the rest of my dough. I mean the records I bought there are some of my favorites anyways so I wasn't complaining, and I was proud to have found it in the middle of a swampy mess of records.

Metal Thrashing Mad would make my top 3. Pure molten metal classic! I'd also have to throw "Howling Furies" somewhere in my top 5. As a whole, I love State of Euporia, but I can see where pulling out a 'standout' track might be a little tough. I guess I'd have to go with the first track, "Be All, End All."
