I know that these speakers work in symbiosis with each other, the planars and the subs, but it would be nice if you could make a video with only the planars in action. Just to get an idea of the bass characteristics of these alone. Best wishes from Norway. 😄

These amps were custom made by Manley as per my instructions. The EL 34’s tubes sound the best with the GT’s.
@melbguy1 Жыл бұрын
@@soundinsight Fair enough. Personally I'd just use a simple setup with the Ref 3's incl: a Vitus SIA-030 integrated with phono and dac/streamer boards, Vitus SCD-025mk2 cdp and a Pre-Audio ASP-1501N linear tracking tt. The SIA-030 is one of the quietest integrated amps in the world & is also very powerful.

@@melbguy1the speakers are designed to sound good with any gear that is made well. These are the only planar magnetic speakers that does not contain a crossover [which will cause phase shift time delay errors, loss of transparency, and loss of efficiency to the Amplifier). That being said what this results in is your ability to actually hear of your electronics and not the crossover. We’re not even talking about the fact that this is the most technologically advanced dual membrane that is available. Additionally, the pure copper traces, and the fact that there are almost over 130 feet of neodymium magnets make this truly a unique speaker in the industry.

Hey Steven Do you feel like the Manley Neo 250s are the best match for the GTA Ref 3’s?
@soundinsight Жыл бұрын
Absolutely - but we have Manley install at the factory all VH Labs ODAM capacitors
@gregt5996 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the Neo 250's are a great match, I use the smaller 100 wpc Snapper monos...more power than you will need . But for solid state there are many great sounding amps that will work well. I personally prefer tubes, they light up the sound stage with a harmonic bloom that is addictive. The EL34 tube is cheap and plentiful, just about every guitar amp manufacturer uses them. With the price increase of KT type tubes due to shortages, EL34's are a great choice.

Each 12" dipole woofer is rated at 90 db @1 watt input and an Xmax of 18mm peak. So even if you were pushing 105 db in that room at a steady tone of 20hz your total power needed would be considerably less than 1000 watts considering you are running 10 drivers, each one would only need a fraction of that power and keep the excursion levels of each driver well with the xmax rating. This is what gives these subs the ability to put out prodigious levels of bass with music program because you only need short term power output with a music signal.
