Well, Peterson is a psychologist who has to help people with problems and be professional, while doing so. He's also a professor who, if ethical, has to teach what the best information is on a subject to the students paying to learn it. "Clean up your room" is a basic, starter instruction, taken from a biblical verse on getting your house in order, for young people who are being bombarded with propaganda harmful to them or people in general, who are being bombarded with stuff from the media, guilt-tripping over non-actual-guilt things demanding unhelpful action that only benefits trillionaires, the encouraging of self promotion by people who haven't really done anything, etc., who don't even run their own lives well, but are told to go out there and make a major difference. Of course, there are some sloppy people who accomplish much. But if their space is organized, they can be less distracted and focus even more on the good they do.

How does america that commited genocide of natives, enslaved blacks and stole lands. Come out as pro life and pro multiculturalism? And how does hitler get blamed for everything only after commiting 1 genocide and everyone was just standing around not doing anything or taking kn refugees?

I said the same thing years ago but no one cares since I am not a public clown and I happen to have a real profession. I am going to repeat again: you need free market to motivate those people who react more strongly to reward and you need authoritarian government to motivate those people who react more strongly to punishment. Ultimate potency of that strategy lies in the fact that all people react to both rewards and punishments, albeit not in equal amount.

His respect for Jordan Peterson is simply an echo of Zizek's own self-respect.❤. Also, regarding his anecdote about the Slovene peasant, I would argue that the fairy in question actually represents the devil. The one who tempts.

Zizek is brilliant but i can never get anything solid or useful from him...he criticizes or make an analysis but never comes with suggestion or atleast thats as far i csn comprehend him..Any i rather benefit from "cleaning my room" than continue being depressed "so on and so on"

I might have misunderstood since I'm not educated in the matter, but isn't the statement of If you are attacked on both sides of ideology/spectrum/etc you are then possibly on the right side a bit dangerous for the listener that isn't very educated to justify itself in moments of history where there is 100% a side where is wrong but with that statement you can always justify yourself with creating arguments in favor of the evil just because you are dedicated and 100% believe in the statement

We live in a mixed economy now. There was only the briefest glimpse of freedom mankind had ever seen in America during the mid 1800s to early 1900s. After that the socialists and statists took over and say “don’t try and make your own conclusions you’re too stupid, let us make your sacrifices for you” as well as swearing they stand by reason, individual rights and freedom. “Today is already the tomorrow which the bad economists yesterday urged us to ignore” - Henry Hazlitt. Excessive government power and government control over the economy is the parasite of all free societies. Why let this booger pontificate on stuff he doesn’t know anything about. It’s no better than lying to your face and calling you an idiot in my opinion.

He likes to call himself communist because it makes him interesting and quirky, but his own definition of it has nothing to do with what communism actually is. Once again, it's just Zizek bullshitting which is what Zizek does and people buy into it only because they like his personality

Yes, the era of second globalisation resembles much the first, 1850 - 1914. Unfortunately or not, we skipped WW I and are now in a WW II reenactment. History doesn't always repeat itself. Sometimes it jumps.

Yeah, and thent the haitian revolutionaries created the first legally established etno-state by sentencing all europeans and mixed people in the island to death regardless of age, sex or origin, sparing only the polish soldiers who were legally considered "honorary blacks". Truly something to cry over.

Interesting inversion of Dostoyevski. Atheists often seem paralyzed by introspection and moral fear if they're not paroxysmically rebelling against some oppressor in an apparently intellectually dishonest way. Poppers paradox appears related to this. I think figures like Peterson and, more noticeably, Nick Fuentes, just want to jump out of the boiling water and into traditionalism for some sort of relief from association with the self-hating, bookish, immobile skeptics. It appears dishonest to some people, but it's honest in a sort of Shmittian way. Politics, the substrate of human life, is defined by the friend/enemy distinction, so let's play on the side of our own "team" as what Zizek may call a postmodern "performance".

People in the comments not understanding Zizek's point and assuming something else. What he is saying is not that communism works. That's a strawman. What he's saying is that "a new authoritarian capitalism" is coming.

The great Christian evangelist Paul Washer ( I kid) has said recently the he is beginning to see signs of an “Awakening” (as opposed to a Revival, which is within the community of believers). I’m beginning to have such a hope myself, and when people like Slajov Zizek unpack Christianity without attempting to undermine it but instead, clarify it and invest it with a deeper meaning than the average church sermon, perhaps he is correct.
