    Two FACTS people need to know about these stoves. 1: The attached igniter eventually does and WILL melt off due to the position of it and the proximity to the flame. It sits IN the flame the whole time. 2. Using propane with these stoves WILL eventually cause fuel leaks and render the stove useless. Propane has a MUCH higher fuel pressure than isobutane, and because the stove and seals are designed around isobutane, high pressure propane will blow out the seals, and there are NO replacements. (These chinese stove manufacturers hide this fact). Use isobutane only if you want it to last long.

  • @adventurelife1972

    @@cindylees391 thanks for the question, the hatch props it up a little but it does stay in place when you close it no problem. I did that when I slept in the jeep.

    Do you just use the boat launch on the south side? or do you launch from other places for free. White lake looks very nice to fish from a yak.

    Hi Chris I’m going solo camping/first time camping in a few weeks in the Sierra Nevadas. It’s a proper campsite but I’m nervous about black bears in the area. I was planning on snacking in my tent, making s’mores, etc. How would one go about storing food and tent snacking?

  • @adventurelife1972
    @adventurelife197222 күн бұрын

    Great question. Rent a cabin ! Kidding. First of all you should never have any food in your tent, even the smallest amount could attract hungry critters large and small. Keep your food and scented products in a bag and suspend them from a rope over a line between two trees if possible, or keep the food a good distance away from your tent. I cook on the campfire all the time (including s’mores)and I clean my dishes right away or keep them away from the tent where my food would be, usually in my vehicle. As for the larger animals (bears) I recommend getting some bear spray which has proven to be effective, make sure you are given directions from the retailer and read the instructions. Typically if a campground is busy you don’t often have issues with bears but anything can happen, not to scare you. The only item I have in my tent is water. There are bear proof containers available which is also an option. I hope this was helpful and I wish you an awesome camping trip. Feel free to message me with any other questions. Let me know how it goes !! The Sierra Nevadas is on my list also !! Happy camping ⛺️

    Well i love the el capitan it's prob the most over built tent ever made they make a mountain pass now that zips up all the way on the inner like you're tent and they advertise it as a4 season tent. The el capitan could easily be advertised as a for season tent as well

    I use the old (1962) coleman liquid fuel stove now, fuel is way cheaper, it works better in wing or cold weather. I have used propane and butane stoves, but I like the old coleman best for car camping.

    Supplies on the island arrive by ship. If you are in a situation where it's rough water (red flag beach) every day, count on supplies to run low. The supply ship can't cross the sand bar into the marina area becasue of breaking waves. I've seen this happen several times over the years.

    The El Cayito "Lobby Bar" (@ the 7:55 mark in your video) is open 24 hours. For a price, they occasionally have some really high end Cognac at that bar.

    Interesting transition at 4:40 in the video. Before it was rough water, too rough for snokeling. But once the amigo at the Chiringuito beach bar handed you your Cuba Libre, the water was intantly clam. Green flag. Get out the snorkel gear!

    Thanks for the video. I just bought one. Haven't used it yet. Looks handy as well as the adjustable fuel will be easier than my coleman single burner. Ps...I eat out of the pan. Saves on dishes and food stays hot longer.

    Thanks for the test/review. I have this tent as well. Sadly Eureka is going out of business and parent company is discontinuing their products. I like this tent so much I just ordered the newer model before its gone for good, Whatever stock they have left will sell out soon and never be replaced. Buy while you can. Thanks again.

    It’s made by Sportneer, mine is fabric top with poles to give it some rigidity, they also make one with aluminum folding top which is more sturdy I think, both on Amazon, worth the extra little bit to bring.

    I just come back from Cayo Santa Maria and there are a lot of abandonned hotels there. Memories Paraiso and Grand Muthu are partly abandoned. There are more but it was too hot to walk on the beach to visit them. These hotels have been build in 2011.
